10 years later and it still looks brand new. Incredible styling. 10 years ago many cars looked really tired and boring looking, but this car still looks incredibly stylish and modern.
I own one and it's sensational on road trips. I bought mine with just 12k miles and no mechanical issues. It is quiet, comfortable, economical, reasonably agile, spacious, luxurious... Can't think of any better option for the same money.
@@captainjacksparrow1 I replaced the oil pan gasket because of a minor leak. That's it. Despite the low mileage, the time (11 years) ruins these kind of materials.
I love the fact you do reviews of cars that are in your stock and yet still 100% transparent about the issues and negative parts of the car. Saw this in your stock and it did get me thinking about taking a closer look. But others comments, not yours have got me thinking about how well maintained it has been by previous owner.
Go for it mate, you only live once, many years ago I wanted a Jaguar XKR, even though I was driving 130 miles a day, I got it, LOVED IT, then realised I was a prick. I would never change it, my first Jaguar, a beast.......BUT A GOOD MEMORY.............Currently on my 3rd Jaguar with an XFS.........love it!
Finally an F01 review, I love mine and just drove nonstop from Liverpool to Kent and with the comfort seats I had zero fatigue. I love the looks of the car, its a blunt instrument purposeful and well proportioned.
I have owned a 730ld 61 plate since 2015. It had 20,000 miles on the clock when I bought it. It now has 250,000 on it and still runs flawlessly. I’ve changed the consumables and battery and alternator but that’s it. I service it when it needs doing, with parts I source myself, relatively cheaply, and a good mechanic to do the work. Mine has more gadgets than I need. Heads up display, comfort seats, rear entertainment pack plus a lot more. Buy a good one, look after it and you will never want another car.
Yeah, as someone from a..."developing" country I'm used to seeing 10-20 year old BMWs being driven here by "successful" people and trust-fund kids, but I saw one of those brand new ones parked up and audibly went "What in the hell is this monstrosity? That's the ugliest car design ever!"
Just bought my first ever BMW diesel after decades of most other ‘attainable’ makes and I love it. It doesn’t make me want to drive it like I stole it but it does provide plenty of smiles for the sheer class of handling, torque and comfort, love it 👍
Hopefully pickup my first BMW on Friday after 20 years of having a new Focus every 2 years. After being quoted 30000 euros for a Focus decided to push a bit further for a 12 month old 318 touring.Fingers crossed.
I have the same a 2012 Msport 730d in black. Exact spec as this one and it has been absolutely hands down the best car I’ve had. Goes like stink, comfortable, fuel efficient, well optioned and has been faultless the whole time I’ve had it and it has 180 thousand kms on the clock. Will 100 percent be replacing it with a new ones soon 👍
i have a f10 5 series.... all this guy is complaining is something from someone that never had a bmw for sure.... you want softclose you pay for that... otherwise you have to close it like a tank that it doesnt close like in other cars... you want a good stereo you better have choosen the option hifi and really expensive speakers.... its a bmw.... even the fukin tyres are on a particular size that just happen to cost double than if you buy with less travel.....by 5milimeters.... but is not legal in my country.... also the f10 is way better looking and I find mine way to big.... at a size of a van... a mercedes van i might add. i love my 5 series but bmw should be sued. they fuk their clients on porpuse .
No totally boring. I've just bought a 21 year old E38 728i and it's absolutely wonderful. The best thing is people keep complimenting me on it how nice it looks.
I’ve had my 2014 730d for 18 months now and still absolutely love it. Yes it as not been trouble free, air suspension struts had to be replaced with genuine BMW ones at £1300.00 each, servicing at specialist is reasonable, run flat tyres are a bit steep at £200.00 a corner but all worth it for such a fantastic driving machine. Mine’s missing a few options being a standard SE model but does have the head up display and 19” rims which look a lot better than the standard 18s.
I have one of these - same 61 plate. I agree with everything said here. I makes you feel very special and has huge road presence. I would feel happy any day to start it up and drive to the south of France! The power just keeps on coming, and Just feels indestructible- but of course it is not ! I had an oil leak from the gearbox as the two seals either side of the box were leaking - cost a few pounds each, but by the time the box was drained, new oil fitted, filters changed (both of them) the bill came to £600 so you need to keep a grand set aside for unforeseen costs. You must get one with a full service record from a main dealer or specialist garage. Mine has heads up display (which is excellent), soft close doors, and screens in the back with Bluetooth headphones so the kids can watch their DVDs with the headphones on - bliss! So make sure you get one with the options you want. Mine has done 110,000 and feels almost like new. Some of these have done 200,000 miles!
@@HighPeakAutos There's no nice way of saying it, but there really hasn't been a good looking 7 since the e38. The f01 just happens to be less of a ditchpig than the others. A G11 facelift video will be a fun watch, it makes the grille on this car look almost tasteful.
I have a 2009 730d and I have to say I fell in love with it. Comfort, safety, space...... but as you said.. some parts are expensive. Servicing every 10k km is seemingly vital and with a good oil. They are also prone to EGR/DPF problems. The boot not staying up is a common problem and is generally the spring has come off its holder. A lot of car for the money but the tax here in Ireland is the killer at €1200 per year on pre 2010 models.
You called the car ugly, I disagree. This car is beautiful inside and out and very well made. Don’t take it out on the car because you made what you thought was a bad choice and had to spend money for a few repairs. Most people sell cars because they cannot afford to repair it or it keeps breaking down. A BMW requires maintenance. Don’t buy it on a Hyundai budget and expect not to pay out for a required or needed repair.
Not being a CEO or a chauffeur I’ve never quite understood what the 7 series offers over the 5, the looks have always been a bit hit and miss between generations too. It certainly wouldn’t tempt me out of the 3.0 G31. Top review as always.👍
@@GG-ml3vr Probably one of the most reliable cars I ever had was a BMW E30 325i. I just kept changing the oil, oil filter, air filter and plugs and gearbox oil. In 100,000 miles I only had to change a water pump that's bearing went. That was a 30 minute job. Take a VW golf now. If the water pump fails it is driven on the timing belt and is a 4 hour job because you also have to take off engine mountings that are fixed to the engine inside the belt. I drive a Toyota Hilux diesel now and it is basically just oil and oil filter changes and air filter every other year.
Thank you for the long awaited review (7 series). I owned an year 2000 E38 (735 iL), my 1st ever car, most beautiful looking 7 series. Yes, expensive to keep, agree with you on that. That is why my 2nd car was Japanese (Mitsubishi Pajero) in UAE, Shogun in UK. All the cars and SUVs are petrol in the Gulf. I love 2nd hand luxury cars, quiet a bargain but again it’s a pain to park at public places here.
Great video Matt, I had a facelifted 2013 730d m sport which I bought in 2019 with 45k miles. Despite a FDSH, I had numerous niggles with mine including air suspension, e-handbrake and washer jets(!), all costly to sort out (as were new brakes and tyres like you said!). When lockdown came, I barely used it as my job became remote-based, i went from doing 15k per year to 1k. It wasn't too happy about being left on my drive, very complicated and 'boinged' a lot. I am a BMW fan boy (owning several 3 and 5 series) and still have a Z4 'toy', but I didn't have the best experience with the F01 so sold it this year (at 60k) and bought your favourite car... a mk5 2008 golf gti-simple, reliable & fun runabout! With the left over money from the sale, i plan to upgrade the wife's SUV for a larger one... would be keen for you to review a 2016 onwards VW Touareg R Line Plus 😉
Yeah it felt a waste not using it, loved driving it, especially on a long journey, effortless! Will keep my eyes peeled for a Touareg review! Keep up the good work 👍
Greetings from Scotland! Just step up to the next model and go for the 740d G11. If there are any (serious) faults with this model I haven't found them in the last few years! A bulletproof 3.0L inline 6 with a twin scroll turbo puts out a whopping 235kW - 315bhp - 320hp with 680Nm, 502 ft-lb of torque! Enough to tow start a Jumbo jet! Huge power which hits 60mph in 5 seconds and has no problem shaking hands with the speed limiter at 155mph. 8-speed auto box makes a super smooth progression through the gears. Interior is super comfy that makes really long journeys a dawdle too! The standard spec is ridiculously good with everything and a lot more at your fingertips! I know, I sound like I love it - because I do! Every time I drive it, I smile! I make excuses to take it anywhere I can! I get an average of 42mpg and I don't drive it gently! On a long motorway journey it often averages mid 50's mpg which for a beast is pretty impressive and it's also ULEZ! My MOT emissions test is so low it's almost fresh air! Oh and speaking of MOT's - it's had 4 yearly MOT's all without previous work and aced every one! Yes, nearly 7 years old and not one issue! Poor reliability/high service costs/expensive repairs - Not something I can speak about, because I haven't experienced any of them. Fully dealer serviced from day one and no complaints about charges. Am I rich - nope, I'm a pensioner who travels a LOT! I often spend a month travelling around Europe with it - why? Because it's cheaper and less hassle than aeroplanes! Seriously, what are you waiting for? Go get a palace on wheels and have some fun! 😂😂
My F01 is on it’s original injectors at 250,000 miles. But I’ve almosr never used regular diesel in it, just bp ultimate. Just mildly lumpy as of recent during the warmer months it starts fine. This has been the most reliable car I’ve owned. Put 100,000 miles on it in about 3 years and has cost maybe 2000-3000 gbp in repairs / regular maintenance. Engine and transmission still very healthy at 250k miles
I've had BMWs for 13 years. Currently have 3 (!) Many other brands before that. Just got a Mitsubishi to replace them all and it feels weird knowing maintenance will be easy and cheap. The other funny thing is that it's from the same era as the BMW's (Late 2000's) and has all the same features and settings in the controls, cabin and electronics that the BMWs do and then some - except without the fear the dash will "Boing" with an error if not driven for a week.
I went to see a 5-year-old BMW 525, the salesman showed me all the garage bills for this car, they amounted to £6000. I asked him what's wrong with this car. He just shrugged his shoulders and said it's a BMW. I bought a 6-year-old Mazda 626 diesel instead for £1700 with 125.000 miles. I went all over the UK and Europe with it - it was flawless. I knew I could trust it to get me back home without needing any visits to garages in foreign lands. Eventually, parts of it rusted to dust because the previous owner lived right by the sea and the salt got to it. I've now owned a 10-year-old Yaris for 6 years, it too is flawless. My cousin bought a GLA Merc. Within a couple of years it needed new shocks.
@@DiscoFang Japanese and cheap don't go together in same sentence. Define cheap? I had to change a gasket in the spark plug well and had to strip pretty much the whole engine. You have no idea how difficult it was. Took me few days and lots of cursing. Parts may be cheap but the labour will bankrupt you.
@@svetoslavtodorov2427 Gasket in the spark plug well?? The only gasket that’s down there is the metal gasket from the spark plug itself. How long had that spark plug been in there? Lack of prior maintenance is hardly a design fault.
Totally agree on your comment relating to ‘low mileage shouldn’t return failing injectors’ for example, but -and this doesn’t discriminate by brand-, it’s all dependent on how the previous owner(s) maintained them. Maintenance records a must.
The build quality of this car is 🔥. Best 7 series still !! Just keep up with the maintenance and don’t gas it hard on a green light . Drive it smooth and have fun !!
Great review, I fell out of love with BMW’s, not as good as you would believe. And what is it with anthracite head linings. They make the interior so dark, test drove a mini clubman and it was like being in a coffin on wheels. Give me a light head lining and a panoramic sun roof any day.
The anthracite is an option. Therefore it's selection imparts a feeling of exclusivity and being one-up. If light grey was the option then that would be the bling. No rational reason.
I think most cars in this class look slightly ungainly. I love the interior though although yes it is a bit tight on the toys. The big selling points for these cars for me is comfort and refinement and on that score it seems to excel 👍🏻
I have an 740d from 2012. And mine has soft closing doors, head up display, heated and cold seats, blind spot warning, front camera back camera side view camera and even for curbs. I have even keyless entry. Cruise control with distance keeping and lane steering assist to keep you in lane. Mine is kinda fully loaded. You just found one with no extras thats why it makes you feeling that way like is nothing special. I mean you bought one without any extras. And the 740d looks amazing because you have the exhaust on both sites and they look gorgeous. I’m happy with mine. I drove 155’600km i never had an problem and i still have the same battery from the factory (2012).
I love your reviews because you speak for a lot of us who are into cars yet don’t want to be taken for fools when paying for the privilege of owning them.
It’s one of the best looking 7-series in my opinion. Don’t quite agree with your asessment of the front. I would of course prefer an XJ ‘barge’ even though they may also have a few issues. All big luxury cars do, don’t they?
Many of these were used by limousine companies and for-hire drivers, so the specifications were often lacking in the optional extras department and they have quite high mileage. Though they’re relatively cheap to buy second-hand with all the massive depreciation, they’ll cost a LOT to maintain.
That is something to keep in mind. The one I bought a few months ago has 125k km on it, was most likely owned by a for-hire driver, and I'm at least the 3rd owner. While that sounds pretty terrible, 730d's are super rare here, so someone really really wanted one. I had it professionally inspected before buying and was told it was mechanically perfect. Remember though, that with these diesels, over 100k km you must change the timing chain, which involves dropping the engine and the transmission. That's why you see a lot of diesels being sold with around 100k km. I knew what I was getting into though and had a mechanic lined up and did the timing chain swap, replaced all the seals, filters, gaskets, hoses and rewrapped some of the wiring. So tack on another 5-10k to the price. Once that was done though, that car is great and can go another 100k km without needing a new timing chain (and more gaskets, etc). On the plus side, these straight 6 engines can easily last way over 300k km.
Saying this having a bigger kidney grill makes me wonder how you would react to the face lifted g12 , wonderful review not many people review this car , glad to have found yours
@@HighPeakAutos Fair enough still looks wrong though. I've got an 08 E92 335d. Same engine I think but with twin turbos. Brilliant car, so far, main issues have been DPF, and snapped coil spring and subsequent ABS sensor. Also a leaking fuel tank breather pipe. Picked mine up for £4995, so yes as you say go for the pricier ones as you'll likely avoid a headache.
@@HighPeakAutos it is an eBay job, someone has stuck a £3 knock off M badge on the boot. I mean you can see the red stripe has already gone pink. Trust me. I made the mistake of fitting an M Sport badge to my first BMW…it rusted on so I couldn’t remove it.
Superb Motors these. 63 plate Facelift in same Colours as Matt's. Best car ever at the time. Worse thing was indeed the hideaway Interior Door Handles. Used to drive me nuts when passengers started yanking on the Door Pocket Card or door release catch!! Apart from that...Loved it! :)
I'm probably buying a used 7 series tomorrow. Been trying to talk myself out of it for a week. I'm not even a big BMW person, but there's something about the 7 that I like. I found one... I know it will frustrate me. I also know I'll love it. And being that I live in America, the pistol storage is totally a selling point for me. Anyway, what convinced me, for the first time in my life, just spend the damn money on a car that I really like, rather than just four wheels to take me somewhere. You said in another video that all cars break, all of them cost money, so buy something you like, suck it up and change the oil and pay for the repairs. Yeah. So I'm probably going to buy a stupid BMW tomorrow. I will let you know... anyway, thanks for making sense of some of the reasons people buy or don't buy cars. it was helpful. (unless I get the car and the engine blows up on the way home, then I'm totally blaming you... lol. kidding.) Update: I bought it... so, it's not a 7...its a Alpina B7. I love it. I love it. The car is insanely fast, so quiet, so comfortable. My only disappointment is that it's TOO quiet. sometimes you want a little noise. Anyway, thanks for the way you explained things. I've wouldn't have gotten it before watching your videos. Now parked in my driveway is the most beautiful machine I've ever owned.
I have an F02 750li. Haven’t had any issues and owned mine for a year and a half. Drives and handles great. Not as great fuel economy as this one though, the 4.4liter twin turbo will do that. Pro tip though, make sure you don’t buy any that has the standard n63engine make sure you get at least an n63b44tu1 engine
Idk how you got lucky but my f02 750li went to poopoo after a week of owning it. Transmission started going out. Battery kept dying, gas gets absolutely SUCKED outta it, constant refilling oil, gets stuck in gears along with jumps/slams into gears. I'll turn my car all the way off , turn it on next day and have a code telling me something was on the entire night and is eating my battery power.
Thanks for doing that as requested. In the meantime though I've bought a pampered 635d loaded with options. It's fantastic, love it but then I did have to get a new rear foglight and it cost £200, Higher spec BMW'S are not cheap to run but as long as you are careful the depreciation will get you into a fantastic car. I could have bought a much newer Ford Focus or similar but then I would be bored to death.
Matt, I'm with you on the design. I like the sharp old BMWs rather than the newer ones. Also I hate how all big manufactures put their M, RS and AMG badgets, on every model. I think it should stay unique just for the top top models.
I have a 740i F01 2010. I have done 80k in it and I love it. It’s not faultless as you describe but as an all-rounder it’s brilliant. My biggest niggle is the rear seats don’t fold down. The second biggest is the stereo could be better. It gets 35mpg on a run and that’s not bad for 3.0 petrol and 326bhp. The sports front seats (the ones in the video) are excellent. It does eat brakes but it is massive so what do you expect?! Thanks Matt keep them coming 💪🏻
Thanks Matt for an informative insight into the 7 series. BMW were renowned in the past to be tight on standard equipment, but it is still surprising that they still do it with their Luxo Barge.
I love it. I have been driving a 530i for a long time, and a friend finally got to return home after COVID, and made me a deal on his 740i. Personally, I didn't think it was a big car, I have had two other luxury cars, a 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood, and a 1970 El Dorado (8 liter V8); a 740i looks like a peanut next to a hot dog compared to either of these. Perhaps the way it drove made it seem smaller, it was firm, responsive, with no body roll. It wasn't until I got it home and tried to park it that I realized how large it was. I live in Tokyo, and my condo has one of those automated parking garages. I was barely able to squeeze the 7 series into it. If the car were an inch longer and half an inch wider, it wouldn't have fit. It would have sucked to have bought a car and found the space too small, my current space costs more than the monthly payment on a brand new 7 series, a larger spot would cost 20% more. Anyway, its a great car, and a great value.
@@Ctparty I drive about 6000 km per year, the oil gets changed every summer. So far I have replaced the battery, tires, and brake pads, and one fuse. It has needed no other repair work. It does use more oil than other cars I have owned, I have to add about one liter per year.
@@HighPeakAutos thankfully no MOT here, but I put in a valvetronic. Muffler or straight pipe. Funny enough, with the muffler, there's no smoke at all. The stage 1 tune really helped.
I went to the dealership and they offered me a 2024( don't like) and I ended up buying a 2013 750li and I'm satisfied with my purchase. TV's, DVD player above glove box(hidden) retractable window shading, cooled seats ect.. (stock)
I always thought BMW used the same engines for both 5 and 7 series. So, I don't exactly understand why that engine is so unreliable on this 7 series....unless the previous owner wasn't as caring as he should've been...otherwise, I really do like this car. I have been considering buying an S class for long journey from England to Turkey, which is now impossible to do due to restrictions. But, I love the 7 series and perhaps if I can find a good one then I'll buy one of these. Many thanks for the video. Great as always 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
If there’s one thing I’d change when buying a used car it would be the steering wheel… when the leather gets highly polished they just don’t feel great to hold. Though I hate to think what that would cost!
Na not anymore, maybe in the 00's but manufacturers completely promote this now. M spec, S line, AMG line etc etc, performance branding used to be special; now it's just a marketing tool to sell all the lesser models.... Sucks big time but meh
@@GoldenCroc Poor sarcasm. You have to admit that those wankers who put different alloys, spoilers, exhausts, stereo systems, susoensiondifferent lights etc just look (and sound) ridiculous. It's not fast n furious in your 1.0 ltr Corsa, it's just pathetic.
When you say a massively depreciated luxury barge, you have to bare in mind that while you own it, it will become a deprecating luxury barge, losing more until it will be £3,000 in 2026. That's a big loss. What a shame. My last BMW was an E34 M5 which when sold went towards a 25% deposit on a house. Times have changed. Loved the video as usual.
I am starting to see a few more of these since they are getting cheaper but I am impressed by the mpg. Obviously repair bills are what puts people off with cars of this class. Problem with Birmingham now is a car has to be euro 6 diesel not to get charged to get into Birmingham city centre thanks to the new congestion charge
Hmmm should I get one of these with 89K miles in black and M Sport trim for £13,500 or opt for a 2016 Jaguar XF R-Sport with 80K miles on the clock for £15,500? 🤔
Such an honest review... is that why nobody is buying this of you? Sounds like you fixed it up so someone should snap it up, if they want to waft in luxury down the motorway at the price of a second owner family hatchback. Superb review as ever, and great to see how you sort your cars out for sale so they actually work for the owner!
@@HighPeakAutos Hi Matt, I need a recommendation please! Im doing a 700 mile Autobahn business trip every other week and leasing is not an option for me. I had several x308, x350, and now a VW Phaeton. All nice cars, but for Jags, parts become a problem and after doing 200k miles in the Phaeton Im tired of it. Honestly I dont care if the car is a little thirsty, but I dont want to lose too much money on depreciation. Always buying cars in the 15-35k range. "That warm and fuzzy feeling..." 😆 One day the front end of these with their huge grilles will seem attractive compared to the monstrosities on the new 4 series and X7 😱
Got a 7 Series, would I recommend? Yes of course - IDK if many cars are nicer than it -Not an Audi or Jag or Lexus - Maybe Benz, Bentley & Big brother rolls. Just prepare for paying thousands a year in repairs, and those repairs can take a month to complete with part wait times, and labour times. Best of Luck!
Hi Matt, another great video from you, i love the Lexus references throughout and the fact you prefer the Lexus to the BMW. Compared to new BMW'S that front end is petite and beautiful and not worth complaining about, I agree not many luxuries but those seats look scrumptious.
Once nearly bought a E32 on a J plate - this was around 1995. So it was quite a nice looking car, It even had a fridge in the back. Tempting but it was silver with black leather. Which put me off.
It’s a yes. When should be a no. It is a yes. It reminds me of east European crimesters and well, James Bond from a few gens back. The current Jag XJ is better looking the 7 is all kinda cool with heavy depreciation. I suggest buy one finessed all fixed on her tech/toys. As it breaks leave it all run it from IOk down to a grand and bin it. It isn’t ugly it isn’t pretty it has presence. Must be black. Tho.

Blah, blah, blah...
Same here Mark. I bought my first car ever a BMW 318d diesel 120hp, love the car!
Had several, 5 series, saloon, estate and X5 but yes I would buy a 7 series, sod the expense live your life.
I love when some one is honest no bullshit , gives you a true review, well done sir.

Front is horrid, but then you see the newer models and they manage to be so much worse that they are repulsive. Great barge!
how is it horrid? This is probably the best looking after e38.

Much better then s class that looks outdated....
For the man who wishes his 5 series was a bit longer...
i have a f10 5 series.... all this guy is complaining is something from someone that never had a bmw for sure.... you want softclose you pay for that... otherwise you have to close it like a tank that it doesnt close like in other cars... you want a good stereo you better have choosen the option hifi and really expensive speakers.... its a bmw.... even the fukin tyres are on a particular size that just happen to cost double than if you buy with less travel.....by 5milimeters.... but is not legal in my country.... also the f10 is way better looking and I find mine way to big.... at a size of a van... a mercedes van i might add. i love my 5 series but bmw should be sued. they fuk their clients on porpuse .
No totally boring. I've just bought a 21 year old E38 728i and it's absolutely wonderful. The best thing is people keep complimenting me on it how nice it looks.
Well, quite! The e38, e39 and e46 are like Grace Kelly's face, timelessly beautiful and will always draw attention.
Hey how much have you paid for the 728i? And what is the current mileage?
I love the E38

I’ve had my 2014 730d for 18 months now and still absolutely love it. Yes it as not been trouble free, air suspension struts had to be replaced with genuine BMW ones at £1300.00 each, servicing at specialist is reasonable, run flat tyres are a bit steep at £200.00 a corner but all worth it for such a fantastic driving machine. Mine’s missing a few options being a standard SE model but does have the head up display and 19” rims which look a lot better than the standard 18s.
Why dont you replace the run flats to standard tyres it'll save u money i did on mine rides the same tyres are cheaper but ive got Michelin tyres
Best looking 7 since the E38.
That’s a nicer way of saying “better than the E65” 😂
@@HighPeakAutos There's no nice way of saying it, but there really hasn't been a good looking 7 since the e38. The f01 just happens to be less of a ditchpig than the others. A G11 facelift video will be a fun watch, it makes the grille on this car look almost tasteful.
I agree. The E38 was the high point
@@HighPeakAutos Oh I dunno... th-cam.com/video/Kird5TYaj8A/w-d-xo.html E66 looks pretty damn good with proper wheels.
You guys are crazy. Face-lift E65 sports look 10x better than the F01. Boxy, brute shape and much better built interior.
I’m thinking to buy a 730d 2011 with 170k miles . What you advise? Please
Protest is robbery 1200 eur for what ?Taxes are theft and should he banned ..Especially considering that you already pay tax on the fuel.
Totally agree

Love your commentary! I own two F01s. Love them, never had any troubles with them. You are right it's a mixed bag of sorts.
Saw this in your inventory and was hoping you'd make a video of it!
Fair enough. Its a waste to have a car like that and not use it. I need to get a Touareg on the channel, not done one of those yet
Yeah it felt a waste not using it, loved driving it, especially on a long journey, effortless!
Will keep my eyes peeled for a Touareg review!

My dad owned a 730d F01 from March 2013 to November 2016.

@John Carroll I see too many cigarette chucking spivs driving mercs and beemers to believe that they signify class.
Great point!
The anthracite is an option. Therefore it's selection imparts a feeling of exclusivity and being one-up. If light grey was the option then that would be the bling. No rational reason.
The 760li is so underrated and it's unreal with a v12 again very good review mat
Whatever about the cars, I'm very much enjoying the 10 minute summer trips around England's green and pleasant land.

(unless I get the car and the engine blows up on the way home, then I'm totally blaming you... lol. kidding.)
Update: I bought it... so, it's not a 7...its a Alpina B7. I love it.
It was because of your review of the 5GT F07, I bought one. Now you are making me change my car!
Nothing can compare with the 740iL e38. Had the f10 530d and sold it for this old guy, didn’t regret it a second…

I hope so too!
10yrs ago a friend of mine bought 740xd. What a car it was! Great engines
Thanks for watching. I thought the stereo was pretty good in this

How is maintenance
@@Ctparty I drive about 6000 km per year, the oil gets changed every summer. So far I have replaced the battery, tires, and brake pads, and one fuse. It has needed no other repair work. It does use more oil than other cars I have owned, I have to add about one liter per year.

@@HighPeakAutos thankfully no MOT here, but I put in a valvetronic. Muffler or straight pipe. Funny enough, with the muffler, there's no smoke at all. The stage 1 tune really helped.

Absolutely, own 750 Li and I LOVE my BMW.
What are the restrictions about taking the car to Turkey?
If there’s one thing I’d change when buying a used car it would be the steering wheel… when the leather gets highly polished they just don’t feel great to hold. Though I hate to think what that would cost!
When I finally become a dictator I will eliminate people who stick those MPower badges on their cars .
Don’t forget the people that paint those ///M lines on the grille like a trashy eyebrow piercing.
Na not anymore, maybe in the 00's but manufacturers completely promote this now. M spec, S line, AMG line etc etc, performance branding used to be special; now it's just a marketing tool to sell all the lesser models.... Sucks big time but meh

"thumbs up" I seriously thought about getting a BMW as my "last car" having never owned one before, so pleased I chose the Lexus instead. Keep up the great Vids Matt and take care, looking forward to your next one already.
Im driving an F01 730d with 98k km
Only problem i had is that the daily running light got damaged yesterday hahaha
Also the a/c air compresor got damaged at 92k km, got it fixed the same day.
I got the soft close door, and cooling seats
Also the head up display., which is an amazing feature
The only think i regret, was not choosing the long wheel base,
I feel that the rear seats are little bit too short
Overall an amazing car
very nice review (even its about 3.0 diesel) ... i own a 750Li (2013) and i m very satisfied !!! previus owned few BMWs - m3, 850csi, m6, m5, x5M
I promised myself never again regarding BMW I have had 4 x Lexus,s and they were excellent , a A8 is on my Radar , hope I won't regret it .
Think Matt has one…he’ll probably knock a couple of grand off if you message him 😁
AUDI!! 🤝
thats why i bought a 728i e38 it drives beautifully and its done 115k .
I have often thought about a 730d affordability excellent for long long journeys..I used the 750 petrol the previous model 2008 thankfully my employer paid for the fuel. An excellent review as ever mr peak
Love 7 series
Some right bargains about such good value just the repair bills can be a bit scary if you get a lemon
Love this car. This review got me to subscribe.
Thanks!
Would you recommend a 730 or a S320 for a weekend and occasional cruiser to Last you til it is a classic
Compared to new BMW'S that front end is petite and beautiful and not worth complaining about, I agree not many luxuries but those seats look scrumptious.
I have a 740d love it and for a big car it keeps the little boy racers in check! I have the 2014 model
Love your videos keep up the good work
Thanks!
It's got "Terry's boss" written all over it! (Terry & June).
640d Gran coupe is so much more stylish and just as luxurious
I agree. Its a stunner
640d is faster cooler 7 looks like a bad 5
Nice car but gimme a XJL anytime they just seem to look more exclusive and sleek. Loving your work Matt , thank you
They are beautiful cars - just bought a 2016 750ix with 50k miles.
Tho.
Easter Island Head front end - 😂 Though, unlike the A8 or S Klasse, they actually wear Alpine White or Mineral White Metallic quite well too.
It looks gorgeous mate :) i think best looking since e38 lets be honest
From your experience what would you choose all around? W221 a350, 730d or a8 d4? 💪🏻
