Went to order a Recording Custom 4 weeks ago (3 drums) BD, T, Fl and was told, "Yamaha is not taking orders right now, and haven't been for the last 12 months." I said, what about a Absolute Maple Hybrid, same sizes? They said "same for those drums." Lol so, "made in China" and you can't get em?? They did say you can get the PHX which is made in Japan. I did do further investigating and one drum owner said, "the people they get they're paint lacquer from - they're having problems." Okay, theN why can they paint the PHX in Japan? Here's the bottom line; most of us respect 'honesty' so if Yamaha would just communicate why and/or announce that right now until further notice you can't order our drums, hey we would respect that and maybe hang in... Because we all know "life happens" and things can be upside down in this crazy world we're living in. But no communication and honesty well, i'll let you make the call on that one? "Buy our drums, here we are at NAMM, but for your professional working drummers ahhh -- yeah we can't make those, they come from China." "The Japanese PHX OH YEAH WE CAN 'MAKE THOSE FOR YA!" tripE
I have the 6 with TCS pads and it sounds amazing. The snare sounds are premium, far better than any of the many Roland kits I’ve owned. Same goes with the tutor functions. It monitors my accuracy on every pad and has drastically improved my timing and overall playing by practicing with this kit. I use acoustic with the Roland TM-6 for playing live, which is incredible. I’m glad I didn’t spend the extra money on the Yamaha flagship since I only use electronic for practice. Super affordable.
Yamaha, if you are watching this, please get your act together on custom orders and delivery. I was there as well, saw Shane from the drum center portsmouth laying into the Yamaha reps on ordering and delivery times. Lets hope they fix this soon!
Amazing the Absolute Hybrid Maple Drums are gone and have been replaced by the Tour Custom Maple Drums, the finishes are nowhere near as good as the Absolute Hybrid line. It looks like Yamaha has totally downgraded their drum line and are manufacturing way less drums than they use to, it's sad to see Yamaha pull out of the drum business very slowly.
Great detailed video with Yamaha! They have some seriously cool kits on the market. Thanks

God all that noise must have been awful. You are a saint for sacrificing your ears good sir.
It was like being in Guitar Center, but worse xD
I wish Yamaha makes a larger TCS pads. I really the playing feels since previous gen DTX line.

same old crap. Yamaha needs to drop out of the E-drum business.
You would have a different perspective if you played them.
