    Bought a 2024 in June. Now with 4000 miles. Been an absolutely amazing truck. Pull a 16k fifth wheel at high elevation. Zero oil consumption. Came from a 2020 Duramax.

      I had a 2020 Duramax too. I loved the truck. Power was insane by comparison (pulling, no real difference empty). Fuel mileage was not what i expected though. Only 2 mpg better in all the same conditions/situations.
      Ultimately that truck just kept the check engine light on. In its defense I think it was a bad ECM because after they replaced that the check engine light made it over 2 weeks and hadn’t came back on but I traded it away. But no joke from November 2020 to May 2021 it never made it 2 full weeks without having atleast one check engine light come on. Always was “lost communication with TCM”.
      If it would have been red (it was white) I would have kept it longer to see if it was truly fixed but I was fed up with it.

      How are the seats compared to the 2020, do they have more cushion? I had a 2020 Denali Duramax too and sold it due to the rock hard seats. Road trips were not comfortable at all.

    Allison wasn't a "nobody"... they just weren't known in the consumer market. They were true HD. Same with Cummins at one point in time. That being said, this new 10 spd is "Allison branded"

    Just purchased a '24 Silverado 2500 Custom gasser a couple of weeks ago. It's a truck I had not given much thought to at all, before watching your channel. I moved up to it from an F-150 to tow our travel trailer with more comfort. I have to say, I'm already a massive fan of this truck. I couldn't be any happier with it. We're looking forward to many years of towing and driving with it.

    I love your videos and I love my 22 gasser the same way you do your 24. But....let me try to clear up some misnomers concerning the 10 speed trans. It is a 10L1000. Just like the one on the diesel. But it's not. The gasser 10L1000 has a smaller torque converter and less clutches. They are of the same size but less clutches in the clutch pack. Now it would be cool if they were the exact same trans. for reliability but they are in fact not. They have the same designation larger number (10L1000) but are totally different if you add the dash to the actual part number. I was curious about that when they first came out as well and couldn't imagine GM putting in the same exact 10 speed diesel trans attached to a gasser, it was confirmed they are not the exact same beast. Just FYI. But I'm not saying it's not a great transmission. I think it is, I love my 6 speed but how can you go wrong with extra gears right? Keeping the gasser in its torque curve with the 10 speed is amazing!! I think it's awesome! I was just trying to clear some things up is all.

    Your videos have been awesome to watch and learn about the 6.6 Gasser. I have a lawn mowing business and I have been towing everything with a '06 Dodge Ram 5.9 Cummins for 9 years. My dump trailer with grass and equipment weighs in at 6500lbs. Do you think the '24 Chevy 2500 6.6 Gasser will be able to handle towing this rig day in and day out? I don't go up and down a lot of hills mainly flat land. Do you have any concerns about the long term effects on the engine and transmission of towing every week with this gasser? I do know the 10 speed Allison has got to be a game changer for towing all the way around but wanted to see what you had to say. Thanks for all the awesome reviews, they have been very helpful.

All winter a fisher polycaster during storms loaded with salt with a blade on the front. Absolutely no issues with my truck. None! I had a 2021 Duramax I sold cause issues . I ordered a gmc 3500 with 6.6 and Allison. I’m personally done with the expensive diesel’s for my type of work. I don’t think you would have any issues with towing with the 6.6 .

    Not one issue!!
    I only had to replace the radiator.
    That transmission is NOT an Alison!
    And for the hard shifting, the soft shifting causes more transmission wear..

    Three months ago I just got rid of a Duramax diesel 2400 HD Chevy pick up lotta software problems took it to the dealer for just an oil change had it for a year I only had 400 miles on it and the mechanic said to me, it’s a good thing you didn’t drive it, because the emission software would’ve blown out the cylinders with too much fuel I said to him hold that thought and then I traded it into a Tahoe with a 62 gasoline engine that unfortunately has dynamic fuel management so then I got rid of that one and now I have an electric hummer and now the electric world is crashing so today when I am leaving this comment I’m going to buy a 66 HD pick up truck great engine, cast iron block no dynamic fuel management and all you have to worry about is using good gas and change your oil every 3000 miles That’s the truck you want bare-bones no problems

    Does octane effect fuel injector performance. I would say are you changing out the fuel filter on any particular schedule differently than manufacturer recommended interval. Do u need high octane if it is timed for regular octane gas. I like your review. Tu.

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, I appreciate it. As for those answers, there isn't a fuel filter to replace easily, so I would just leave it. The manual says to run it on 87 or better, the system adjusts to the octane a person uses, but I haven't seen a huge difference, just what I've always done on my gas trucks. The zilla actually de powers itself if you use less than 91. I think that a better octane would help reduce wear on injectors and less carbon. But I wouldn't have anything personally to prove that.

    I purchased mine a a couple of weeks ago. Every time I get in it, I find more bells and whistles. Some I like, some I don't need, some I turned off. I do love the truck. It pulls great, while I find plenty of power but mileage is poor. I am getting no better than 8.4 and hope that it gets better. One thing that has been bothering me is the steering wheel is off to the left a bit. I have watched a ton of videos on this truck and they ALL seem to be off to the left a bit. If I let go of the wheel, no matter what road I am on, the truck drifts off to the left. I took it back to the dealer, they put it of the rack and said it was within spec. Within speck if it pulls to the left?? Anyone else experiencing this?

    Nice truck and a thorough description of the vehicle. I have a 2019 1500 with the 5.3 8spd. I really like the truck and am thinking about trading for a new one in a year or so. I don't really need a HD truck but I remain concerned over potential lifter failure in the light duty V8s. Mine has been fine and it delivers great fuel economy as a daily driver back and forth to work. What kind of mileage does your truck get on routine daily commutes? I do like the 3.0 diesel as well but I am unsure that the increased fuel mileage over the 5.3 really makes up for the higher diesel fuel cost, def fluid requirements, etc. And the cost of the 1500 trucks has gotten so high it is not much more to get the HD model. I do haul a light utility trailer, an enclosed trailer, and some firewood. Your thoughts?

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for being here and watching. You are 100% correct, you can get a nicely optioned hd truck and
      Never sweat ability, and other than the 1500 diesel, you'll get about the same MPG's with the 5.3, 6.2 and 2.7 turbo as the 6.6 l8t. The 3.0 diesel is great on fuel economy and is rated high for a half ton on towing, but, you ad the diesel emissions stuff and potential issues. On the l8t you'll get 14 to 17 on the hwy, and in town you'll be 11 to 14. No active fuel management on the big guy, so it's rock solid. But if you can option the little durmax right, it will be the highest mpg truck in the half ton segment. I would pass on the 2.7 turbo though as it doesn't get that good of fuel economy. Chevy has continued its active fuel management in the v8s.

    • @automotiveinquiries9673

      In my 12k, almost all towing, zero oil consumption. My friend who is a contractor bought the truck from me and he is at 30k. Zero oil consumption. We do however always change the oil at 5k, and never stretch it out to the higher approved intervals.

    I tow a 17000 lb 5th wheel about 4K miles a year currently have old 5.9 diesel drw . Thinking of nee truck and would like gas on a 3500. Do you think 6.6 gas would be ok ?

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it would get it done just fine. I don't think you'd even need a dually unless you preferred that. This 2500 pulled the Cruzin castle a 40 foot 17k 5er this summer in the battle of the plains series I did and it handled it great. I think 20k plus is a lot to ask of a Gasser, but under that. I think it would do great, and the rest of the time you aren't pulling, you can enjoy better fuel costs.

      I don't have any power steering noise at all. Although we did get a new power stroke at work that had a slight wine when pressure steering under low speed. Topped off power steering fluid and it went away. If your level is good I don't think that any noise would be acceptable.

    Hmmmm I guess my nephew who is a master GM tech and diesel tech is wrong then about the Allison not been a true Allison. They are built by GM and licensed by Allison so it’s really just a name and no the 10 speed is not the same in the duramax and 6.6 gas they have different internals. Just a note not all 8 speeds used by ram or dodge are true ZF either, the 8 speed in my new Durango V6 is a Chrysler built 8 speed again licensed by ZF as I found out after I bought it thinking it was a true ZF

      You can think whatever you want but it is Allison approved. Also, the only difference between the diesel 10 speed and gas is the programming and a slight difference in torque converter. Everything else is exactly the same. The smoothest most reliable 10 speed on the market currently…

      I heard that the Bosch fuel pumps that are supplied to GM, Ford, and Dodge fail due to the poor lubricity of US diesel and there isn’t a replacement. Supposedly European diesel is better all way round including emissions.

      In my experience pulling with the 6.4 hemi, light stuff 10k or less, the hemi did fine. We had several of the 6.4 hemi crew rented at work last summer. Neither made it without issues pulling through the mountains. So I would say yes, the l8t pulls better and with the allison, it's light-years better than the zf. As far as fuel economy they are both close to each other. The l8t outdid the godzilla also.

      @CodyTheBmxMan so ford keeps you posted through the app and website. Gm and Ram rely on the dealer to notify you step by step. When my 16 mega dually diesel was built I called them weekly to get am update. It was a pain in the but doing it thay way. But in my experience from ram and the Saltillo plant, from the build date to your door could be up to 2 months from the build date.

    I disagree about towing, gm’s independent front ends seems to be to light while towing! My tremor towed wonderfully for a gasser it was a f350. Interior comfort in my opinion is far better in the newer fords!

    • @Billybob50119
      @Billybob50119 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      IFS is superior in ride and handling. The Ford while loaded is jittery and darty and solid front end wanders. The interior of the Ford has higher interior noise along with wind noise from the aluminum cab and door variance. Ford is also behind in camera and touchscreen technology. This channel has shown that the GM HD has been the best truck at everything while the Ford ate itself from cam and lifter delamination while also not handling a load as confidently.
