Ehh, I wouldn't go that far and he has a few other tricks up his sleeve but I understand your point, the matchup isn't too hard to learn, and once you learn it it's over for Plant

To a Plant main to a Plant main: good video! and to add the reason to main, sniping Ptooie on a recovery attempt is the most satisfyng feeling I just think the disavantage state is underated, its bad but its not that bad, you can hug the stage wall/ceiling to not expose your head and throw of the oponents timing. also since its go far, you can stall a bit before comming back or even try a reverse edge guard with Ptooie or LSS, whch the later has super armor to save you sometimes.
Yeah, sniping with ptooie is extremely satisfying. The stalling is something I probably should've mentioned tbh, but I still wouldn't call his recovery good. Thanks for your comment!
really good video man, one thing that I think should be mentioned though is you can pull a ptooie right before a grab or hard hit it'll fall and might end up killing your opponent or just doing good damage (this happened the other day with a friend)

This is kinda why I wish I knew how to mod smash. I have some great but not broken ways to fix plant. 1: fixing hit boxes and frame data 2: press a different button during down B for command grab that slams the pot into the opponent and it snaps to ledge 3: poison cloud is multidirectional 4: fixing the spike yeah that's kinda all I was able to think of so far that isn't broken
I'd add a recovery buff so like make the hotboxes of up b bigger or make him travel up faster but I do agree with your ideas for sure! Thanks for your comment
While I definitely agree that Plant is not a very good character with how the characters meta has been pushed the last few years Id say shes far from a one button character. Ptooie is mostly used as an advantage tool, and is also used to punish opponents who are out of position in neuteral (IE Yoshi landing on plant with nair) In neutral poison, in my opinion, has become a lot more defining for plant neutral game, using the move for stage control, spread damage, and using its charge animation for movement, being able to cancel its animation when landing or while grounded to bait options. Another optimization to Plants meta is the growing use of Plants frame perfect Ptooie tech, specifically Spallow (which halfs ptooies endlag). Spallow has been known about for some time but has been proven to be a threat in game as TAS has been able to master it and use it consistently on a game to game basis. Now that this is being looked into further, it's very possible that Ptooies' main weakness of its commitment due to its endlag is somewhat mitagated in the future, as Plant players brcome more consistent with the tech. Finally Plants recovery is 100% underated, long distance that can be extended by tech like Toxic Boost, Plant having many great stalls offstage and the ability to go under some stages, alongside the ability to stagespike or gimp with UpB makss challenging her offstage too much of a risk for the majority of the cast, as despite the linear UpB Plant mains still have many mix up options at their disposal. Good video though you 100% gained a sub, glad more people are covering this goofy under represented character 💯
One other note: Jab is a strong combo breaker (F2) and while Plant has a rough DIS overall her unique fallspeed and hitbox can cause many characters combos to not work as well on her, leading to instances where she dosent die from combos ither characters do (IE Bayo Ladders)
Hmm, yeah I'm not gonna lie I'm not really a technical player so while I know about techniques like Spollow and Toxic Boost, I don't quite know how to apply them in matches myself as I just didn't learn how to use it. Poison I probably should've covered more in depth as I do believe it's Plant's second best move, so fair point on that. Jab is a move I didn't cover despite it being pretty good for Plant because the move was too simple to give an in-depth analysis on, but a brief mention of Jab as a neutral tool would've been good.
