The anime-like opening was the most platinum shit ever and I loved it
I’m not super into these types of games, but I love Bayonetta as a character enough to buy her series, so I checked Astral Chain out! It didn’t disappoint at all, the loop of getting S ranks on missions > new costume, etc... it’s good!
It’s more forgiving than Bayonetta for sure, which I appreciated a lot. I don’t care enough to get Perfect Platinums by not getting hit, but I care enough to get S ranks in Astral Chain by going ham on the chimeras and using every tool available

I've been on the fence on buying astral chain. I am a fan of platinum games stuff but it just didn't look like my cup of tea but this video was both really entertaining, well put together and has convinced be to buy the game thanks for not spoiling buy the way. Keep up the good work and don't falter.

@Golden Lightning i loved it. The characters were great and i feel in love with the world they inhabited. The combat was really fun once i got to learn it. The difficulty to get the best ranks were a bit on the easy side compared to bayonetta and the such and the story was mediocre. But over all it was a magnificent experience and a purchases well worth it easily a 9/10 for me.
Dude i hate Bayonetta, Played DMC series it was ok but not WOW. I can proudly say Astral Chain is WOW.

I did get this game per your recommendation and I can agree that this game was really, really good. I kinda thought the game felt a bit short, but that's probably because I'm on my 3rd playthrough of Fire Emblem Three Houses and I finished Persona 5 not too long ago. I definitely thought the gameplay was really good and all the small little side missions (red and blue cases) were a good way to give people optional stuff to do. Despite using the same model for all the male and female NPC's (kind of thought it was funny to see basically clones of me throughout the game lol), the visuals were pretty good and some places in the game look amazing. I will for sure try to 100% the game on the hardest mode and spread the word about this game to other people. 10/10, would play as a Legionis again.

Axe legion is really meant for when your overwhelmed basically it’s way more defensive which is jarring but as the last legion it’s really cool how it stands out

Everything from the aesthetic, the story, the gameplay, the music - such an over-the-top, existential, nonsensical (in a good way) game.
Already played and really enjoyed the game back on launch but despite that still a super entertaining video to watch!
I finally fell in love with this game today.
I consider myself an ex-fps junkie and this is one of the many games I bought and played for an hour before hopping back into my shooters. Having shifted towards single player games lately I reached for this after getting burnt on Xenoblade and I CAN NOT believe how long I’ve had a game this good just gathering dust on my shelf. I also appreciate the slow down missions you mentioned. As much as I like constant action in theory, I tend to get bored quick with hack n slash games that have a simple loop of ‘walk forward then clear the room’.

I remember thinking this was a Xenoblade X sequel when the trailer dropped and I bought it just to fill that Nintendo cyberpunk hole that X left in my heart. I made Elma in the character creator and everything.

It’s 2023 and I still think about this game. I played it day 1 and instantly fell in love with it. It always made me upset that not a lot of people know about it because it’s one of the best game on the switch. I’m still hoping they will make a sequel because it deserve it

Astral Chain is pretty much Evangelion x Jojo's Bizarre Adventure x Ghost in the Shell all wrapped in fantastic 90's anime aesthetic.
It's absolute peak kino. It's pretty much the best Jojo game ever made despite not having the official license. The only thing it was missing was some more "Platinum-isms" like flashy boss finishers.

I have the collectors edition lying around since September and I promise I will play it. Someday.
This game is an absolutely amazing one, not the best of its genre for 2019 since that easily goes to DMC 5, but such a perfect thing for many of us. Each and every part of the game isn't the best or most innovative, but instead is a melding of mostly all of platinum's games and even a few ideas from other franchises. Sword feels right out of MGR, some of the enemies and on rails segments feel similar to Nier Automata (and a ton of the music too), Beast feels like a mix of ideas from Bayonetta and MGR, the chain mechanics feel similar to some of the set-ups in 101, Arrow feels like something out of Vanquish sometimes, Arm feels like a mixture of all the games and battle anime into one legion, and branching out further both Sword and Axe have many moves and abilities that feel straight out of Dante and Vergil's movesets from DMC. Everything in this game is a love-letter to fans of this genre, and while it doesn't surpass DMC, MGR, Bayonetta, or most of the others in its own mechanics, it pays some of the best homage to them that any of us could've asked for! Easily a 9 or even 10/10 for what it was going for
Astral chain looks great on a switch OLED model and that's why I replayed it again....

Well I remembered this game because my friend plays it sometimes on the bus, but it didn't look very fun to play to me compared to Bayonetta, but thanks to this video maybe when I get bored with my Switch games Ill give it a try or go over to my friends house and play it.
Man axe was actually my fav. If ya get the hyper armor mod you can wreck some house with him. Plus he leaves a bomb after every few attacks,

I remember fighting the last boss and dying during that fight and said I'd fight the boss later...3 months later after my job was settled enough for me to play, I was loaded back up to that same part of the fight. I thought I would go through the stage and shake some rust off.. but no, I'm going in super rusty for the fight and it took me like 3 hours to beat that boss when one more retry would have done it 3 months early...procrastination man.
When I saw this game in the store I added it to my wishlist because it looked like bayoneta but I had no idea it was made by the same people!

I am a huge Bayonetta/DMC/MGRR fan so yeah, I HAD to buy Astral Chain on first release game. It's still one of my favourite switch games !
The only thing I can criticize about AC is that the post-story game is repetitive and almost non-existant post-story scenario.
It's literally fighting levels, while why I like AC a lot was because of investigation and exploration ! Its levels were a break for me playing Bayonetta/Devil May Cry (fight fight fight fight). Oh well, I guess I can do these post-story levels easily and chilling and getting the game on 100%...wAIT WHAT 70 FIGHT LEVELS ?! 😭😂

Everything about this game is fantastic. It gives you just the right amount of hand holding, the combat and enemies are SICK and I could hack and slash enemies forever, I actually really liked the story, and the MUSIC. BRUH THE MUSIC SOMEONE PLEASE GIMME THE LINK TO THE SOUNTRACK OF THIS GAME I CAN'T FIND IT. I've seen people hate on the combat and the skill trees but I absolutely LOVE that, it gives me the sense of progression. The replay value is also GREAT bc the game saves what achievements and collectables you get when you first play it which makes it really easy to 100% the game without trying to do everything at once. The only real issue I have with it is really really small and insignificant: you can't customize your twin and there's an outfit they wear at the end that is just like 😬😬😬. That's pretty much what I don't like about the game. The one suggestion I have is that you should probably play as the female twin first because personally I think that the dynamic between the slightly older and evidently more powerful twin (bc the player always has to be the strongest duhhhh) being a girl and Akira being a boy and having the emotions and obligations he feels like he does makes a lot of his reactions make a lot more sense. These same reactions with the girl Akira just seem whiny and annoying.

Bro I didnt know this game was as good as it was until I played it. Usually its harder to finish games for me than it is to pull teeth, but I loved almost every second of it. Its your like most anime RPG games but the design of enemies, and fluid gameplay really kept me coming back. Honestly the only thing they could've added on were the other characters, cause they were pretty boring

Why does everything have to revolve around Smash? Being in Smash isn't an acknowledgement of anything nor a big achievement.
@@LeonStephan if it gets put into smash it spikes the games' sales. More sales = more likelihood of getting a sequel or related content. Adding the Xenoblade 2 character got a huge audience of new eyes on that game where it wasn't before. Basically if you care about the game and hope it will have a future smash is the best marketing route imaginable, doesn't have anything to do with if it means anything acknowledgment/achievement-wise (I mean this dude could see it as an achievement and that's why he wants it (like you assumed)), but that stuff aside -- yah it would be a big deal for the game.

I disagree with your opinion on Axe Legion. It deals literal craptons of damage, especially in sync attacks. It basically was my go-to legion when fighting slower foes or crowds of enemies. Spin attack is just too good, and deflecting attacks with perfect calls feels badass too.

Do think its a bit of a bummer that your character is silent for every cutscene except after ******** dies, and while I would really want a character from this in smash, I feel like we'll either get a Rosalina Echo Fighter or a character so complicated they would become a Terry 2.0.

The problem with Astral chain and Wonderful 101 is that even though they're great, they have a pretty nieche battle system and some tend not understand the gameplay because reviewers don't have time to get invested enough most of the time
