I absolutely love your channel, and I love your videos. Your subtle jabs at the bigger overlanding channels and their "ideal drives, to beautiful locations, and cooking amazing meals on the latest campstoves" or however you said it exactly had me rolling! 😆 I cannot believe that with how small the IH and Scout community is, that you don't have more followers and views. I just figured more people would have found you by now. I know that when I found you, I went back and watch your videos, and have followed you ever since. I can't wait to see where your adventures take you. I grew up on the back seat of a 74 Scout II, my first vehicle was a 78, and now I have a 73. Hello from Fort Worth, Texas, and yall keep up the great job!
Thanks man. Really do appreciate it. It’ll happen… maybe. Not gotten anything yet from TH-cam but it’s not really the reason I do it. Mostly just for fun but I’d not complain about a little 💵. Share the channel if you know anyone interested. 👍 and thanks again.
Thanks again for the video. Stay cool... it's not too hot here on the Kenai Peninsula and when I cleared off enough snow to set my coffee cup down on the picnic table there were no ants. Take care and Godspeed.
On old carburetors that have a lot of miles on them, the throttle shaft bore can get worn out and cause the throttle to stick like yours is doing. Great channel, I have a 61 Scout 80 that I am restoring right now with the hope of doing something similar to what you are doing.
That is no doubt the issue with the carb. Took me a while to narrow it down but that's absolutely it. It's just worn out so much that I'm not sure a rebuild would even help. I've since replaced with a new two barrel that works very good. I don't really like it as much as the single but it's basically because I can't use my cool original air cleaner. It has that weird cheap chrome rectangle filter, but it does work much smoother so ... ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Get that 80 on the road man. Remember that perfect is the enemy of good. It's better to get out there in a good Scout then have an unfinished perfect one sitting in the garage. Or at least that was my view. They're great little traveling rigs if you're not in a big hurry. You'll see much more of the country tooling around at 55 than 80. If you get over here on the east coast with it look me up!
Wish I would have known you were that close I would have tried to meet you and bought you guys a meal. I live 100 miles East of Mammoth cave, In Somerset Ky. on the shores of Lake Cumberland.
That would have been awesome. In the beginning, we were moving kind of fast but towards the end we were chugging along and taking our time waiting for Harvester Homecoming in Fort Wayne. It won’t be our last trip. 🤞 next time.
Wonderful, thanks for joining us! The Scout is a 1969 Scout 800a, so.... 53 years old and still chugging along. The Little Guy is perfect for the Scout, not much weight and practically 0 wind resistance with it tucked in down low. Not sure it's a deluxe, it's a 4 wide that's about 20 years old with a shelf in the back. Not much deluxe about it but we love it. 😂
i got 2 = scouts 1961=1963 63 has a snow plow===the scout needs my new slave cyl put on and bolt fixed on gas pedal nice shape not much rust ==61 is a rust bucket parts only both are scout 80
Nice scout collection. Do you still work the plow? You might need it with the snow but Id say it wouldn’t be too warm this weekend. It’s cold out there, even for a guy with Alaska blood. 😂

I see that you have invented a new item on your journeys…a dry erase windshield. 😁. Great video again.
Without a working gas gauge it was the best way to keep up with our fill ups. The magnetic pens work great! 😂
Thanks again for the video.

I bet, the summer was brutal but I won't miss the wind in Bethel this winter. 25 years of that was plenty. Now the Kenai, that's beautiful year round.

Just found your channel. Glad you know how to pronounce Appalachia. How old is your Scout? I have a Little Guy Deluxe camper.

i like your 800 but like 80 more old school 55 top all day speed
With the 196 and 4:27 gears we weren’t much better. 90% of our trip was at 60 or under. I do like the 80s too. Work horses for sure

Shes going to beat you if you keep putting her on camera!
😂 She does get a little touchy on the subject.
