Hence why I believe the GTRs wouldn't be even close to as valuable as they are now if they were available in the U.S immediately.
Especially seeing as you can get regular skylines here in new zealand for the same price as a civic, and the R33 GTR sells for the price of a basic new car. Sure the R32/R34 would be worth more than the R33, but they wouldn't be hitting these $100k + prices that they do now.

You know what kind of trend I would like to see in American cars, especially in Japan? I want to see the itasha trend carry over to those cars. Yes, I like the classic low rider scene (and Japan has a surprisingly good low rider scene as well, which this video did not cover), but if I have like an old school muscle car, like, say, a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, I would like to see it done with a Sailor Jupiter theme because that would look awesome.

back in the mid-1990s I saw this Japanese national here in Jacksonville walking towards the bad part of town. Through my broken Japanese and his broken English, I figured out that he was just traveling the entire United States continent with nothing but a credit card in his pocket.
He said he was heading to Daytona since it was spring break. At the time I was driving a 1991 ZR1 Corvette, and it was that one month or two period that I owned it where it was actually running well. I blasted him down to Daytona from Jacksonville. He loved every second of it.
He told me his best friend had a Mach 1 Mustang over in Japan and he could name every classic car we passed on the road.
That was a good time and I often wonder where he is today.

There is nothing surprising about this. This has been going on for decades. When I worked at a Chevy store back in 1987 a Japanese buyer came over and bought 10 step side pick ups. They were anything from 2 1956 Fords to some '70s and '80s trucks. They also bought a few new Pontiac Fiero Gts, we also had a Pontiac store, which I had to modify to comply with their laws there. I heard stories from way back about the Japanese taking their old American cars, like a 1959 Cadillac, out for a Sunday drive collectively, shutting down the highway and having lunch on the hoods of their cars. There should be nothing surprising about something that has been happening for a long time.
