I'm sorry to say but at 4:04 you called it a 280z and showed a picture of a 280z s30. As it was an s130, it was a 280zx. Vastly different car than the 280z. As an owner of an s130, I couldn't be more honored to own the same model as one of the most legendary cars in existence
@@4our6ixkwvmz the 280zx was a completely different chassis with a slightly different engine. The later model 280z's (s30) had the l28e, and so did the 280zx, but the 280zx had a few different changes. I believe it had a different fuel injection system than the 280z (the 240z and 260z both were carbureted). The 280zx had a complete redesign to the interior, a completely different body, different suspension, and a whole lot more features. The 280ZX was now aimed at being more of a luxury Grand tour car. So it had power everything. Power windows, power mirrors, a really nice stereo with tons of features, velvet velor seats with leather siding as an option (mine has them in blue with white siding), power antenna, rear window sprayer/washer, and a brand new thing to Nissan, removable T-Tops as an option coming out in 1980. In 1982 they came out with a Turbo model. A digital display guage cluster came out with this car, and it was really ahead of it's time. This car had a LOT of horsepower for a Japanese car at the time as well. 197hp. The 280zx beat multiple exotic supercars of the time in racing, including the Ferrari 308 I believe. A lot of guys who were used to the s30 did not like the 280zx because it felt softer and it wasn't as raw as the previous generations. Which it was softer, but it was a much much better daily driver and much better for taking on long trips. It still handled amazingly well though, and it was faster. If you put aftermarket suspension on them (I have Tokico racing gas struts on mine), they handle better than an s30 and it brings back what people love about the previous generation. Overall a very different car with different features. And it really just depends on what you prefer. This car was at the point where they were phasing out the Datsun name and changing back to Nissan, so there is a badge on the back that says, "Datsun 280zx by Nissan." This was the last z car in history to go under the Datsun marque. Hope that helps!

4:17 That photo of Kumita-san's S130Z is a heavily doctored image of its 1994 speed trial at Yatabe. Actual recorded speed past the banking point was 265.37km/h. Car was running on a Tsukuba circuit setup, therefore the lack in longer gear ratio for a top speed run. The exact Z did not partake in any 1996 speed trial whatsoever. It has never *officially* crossed the 200mph mark. Note that I said "officially" as the car MAY have crossed beyond the point during usual street cruises. This is the same for Yoshida-san's 930, whereby the maximum recorded speed it has ever reached was 302.52 during the 88' speed trial in December. I was hoping to avoid this video until it kept popping onto my recommendeds. This is the exact reason why I stopped watching this channel, pure garbola contents. If you people are so-called "passionate and enthusiastic", you would've put in the extra efforts to do your research, be it hunting actual article scans of magazines from the era.

Wym the 300zx still holds the record fool?
@@phines93 I think he means hp wise
You made me fall in love with the 91 NSX, and it never changed since
James starts off chilled, but then he can't quite fathom the speed and power of these cars and he starts to slip into absolute madness and goes absolutely bonkers.
The Speedwagon Foundation approves of this video
Best D list for ages 👍
My personal favorite is the ABR Mid Night Z, just because of my obsession with the Mid Night Racing Team. Or the Top Secret Supra and Blitz R34 because of seeing it on so many Super Street magazines as a kid. The JUN Z32 surprised me on this list. I believe it was referenced in one of those old Japanese street racing games with that body kit. And the Re Amemiya AZ-1 might be the most beautiful car on this list in my opinion.
The days of Super Street and Import Tuner haha
thank you for giving me something to watch while im in in school suspension
What did you do😕😕
Finally the ACTUAL cars that need to Chill Out/
Your comment was stolen
80s and 90s Japanese stuff has such a cool vibe. Some awesome cars here, including some I’ve never heard of
There are so many cars not on this list, but they got so many cool cars from back in the day on here. The team really enjoys this stuff and they really do their homework.
I thought that was the problem, they chilled out
Yea I fuc,in hate this clickbait bullshit... the channel would be way better if they stopped
Donut needs to chill out with all these chill out videos 😄
Just kidding... keep on punchin'!

What are the differences?
This car was at the point where they were phasing out the Datsun name and changing back to Nissan, so there is a badge on the back that says, "Datsun 280zx by Nissan."
This was the last z car in history to go under the Datsun marque.
Hope that helps!
@@datsoon9236 i really appreciate effort on writing that long paragraph, theres so many knowledge i can gain from there! thanks a lot man. 👍🏻
@@pan17awa of course! Always willing to pass on my absurd knowledge of various cars 😂
Ive always wanted an old z. They always have so many at the local shop i frequent and i wish i could adopt one 😔
Donut, you are my biggest inspiration to get into cars and learn. Coming from an IT background, you not only made cars fun, but educational! Thank you all!
Hey, just wanted to say this video flowed much better than previous d-list vids. Even though there were A LOT of cars, I still felt like there was info and it was wrapped up nicely. Keep it up!
This is the best D list and James the best host 💯
This might be the funniest episode. I haven’t laughed this hard in a while but then again I also cried yesterday. Goddmann you James. Get this man an Oscar.
I'm not pooping until we get "birds need to chill out"
I remember when this channel first started it only had about 60k subscribers. Donut media is almost at 6milly ?!?!?🤯
I’am sooo happy and proud of the whole donut media organization where they take time, money, patience, and PRIDE to bring us (out of this universe content) every week for not only our enjoyment but theirs too. Just goes to show how passionate they’re. Forever a lifetime subscriber ! Love you guys . 😎✌🏽
……………….Also…….🗣Do it for DALE #3 🏁
I didn't realize how excited I was for this until I found out we haven't really hit anything harder than '91. Lemme break out my VHS camcorder and film the resurrection of the tuner scene.
Fun fact The JUN blitZ Z32 still holds the record for landspeed for a japanese car 30 years later
Fun fact: that was said in the video lol
It did it with its own engine right the vg30?
@@phines93 yup!
Car is still on rpads was for sale 7 months ago... oh it also had almost full interior
@@VeilSideZ32 wow that's actually insane , this definitely has to be the most slept on car of all time then ...damn I'm hella proud to be a owner of one ...can't wait to build it up and go to hella car meets so I can talk shit and demand the respect the car deserves lol
i like when James is on a JDM video, you can tell his passion for JDM shows
*Day 15 of asking for an Up To Speed on*
1) Yamaha
2) Suzuki
3) MV Agusta
4) Aprilia
5) KTM
6) Triumph
6) Honda ( Motorcycles )
One thing i love is that japanese tuners back in the day made big power with crazy bodykits which is more rare to see nowadays
My favorite fact about the hks zero-r is that there were 10 built and they had their own VIN. For that to be accepted, six had to be crashed. 1 is lost somewhere (i assume it rusted away) 2 are still with hks and the last one belongs to Sultan of brunei (because of course)
James is wildin in this one lmao
Makes my day when he gets all riled up going through these lists!
Without drinking any Nos, James nearly had 2 heart attacks in this video.
I love the unbridled chaos that is this episode's D-List. That and James' screaming.
OMG you listened to my comment (maybe I'm not that important, probs a heap of people lol) - sooo glad we can read stuff now on the labels and enjoy the show! You guys actually have real info in these episodes and not being able to read the list just as a joke is hurting you guys more than anyone! Keep up the good work
I’ve been with you since you’ve hit 4 million, and now you are approaching 6… it’s amazing to see such a great crew doing stuff they love getting appreciation they deserve! Keep on rocking, Donut!
I just bought a 92 cressida, saving for a 1j now. This is awesome!

I think you missed MCR and Amuse. I think Donut should do one on Bomex
Love JDMs
and this is just the video i wanted..
James needs a bigger intercooler to cool him down like damn man there is danger to your manifold and your floor will fall ou- wait what???
Wait i thought the next D-list is "birds needs to chill out" ?
right? so disappointed. w need 'birds need to chill out' from this crew
I own an SW20 that makes almost 400whp. Love destroying most cars on the road. Especially when a civic or VQ owner thinks my car is slow
Let me guess, it's not a 3S GE?
@@Joshua_N-A 3SGTE
Ah yes, my brother. I've got a particular love for them as well. Have owned 4 now, a couple from 85, 86 & 89 and now a 92 SW20. 3SGTE all the way. While I can appreciate the builds guys, & a girl or 2(1 of em has a channel- Sarah n Tuned), I like them more when they keep the Toyota power train. None of the honda-powered stuff for me. So she's in the garage on jstands, waiting for my healing of back/neck spine surgeries. Have all the good stuff for the new engine internals, ecu, suspension, wheels (necked tires), a rebuilt 94 tranny, aftermarket clutch/flywheel combo, upgraded cooling bits & pieces, you name it. Well over the 20k in new and replacement parts. Will need a valve job, an ecu tune, and new paint. That should finish it up. Just gotta get it done before the world's out of gas and all combustion engines are banned...
I've loved mr2s since the 90s, Beautiful cars. Its rare but always nice when i do see one on the road. Don't ever sell that thing....
Xerf Spec, a TH-camr that used to post many Jazz-Fusion compilations, had a whole playlist of Yatabe tracks with a whole bunch of the cars mentioned in this video. It warmed my hearth hearing about the history of the cars I’ve been seeing on the video thumbnails while listening to some good fucking Jazz-Fusion. Unfortunately Xerf’s channel got terminated due to multiple copyright strikes, so all the playlists are gone from TH-cam. It was a blast though.
Edit: Apparently some of the playlists are still available under other TH-cam Channels. Just search ‘Yatabe Track Day Jazz Fusion’ and you’ll find them.
The D- list i was waiting for..!!
Day 1 of asking James for a "tractors need to chill out"
4:17
That photo of Kumita-san's S130Z is a heavily doctored image of its 1994 speed trial at Yatabe.
I like turning on closed captions on these vids and seeing how youtube tries to interpret "hurrs purrs" every time James says it
Mazda GTR homolgated Group A rally car. Only 2200 built including 200 GTaEs which were the race ready versions!
1.8l dohc turbo ran 18-20psi in standard trim with a glass gearbox putting down 4wd power to the ground. Very underrated car!
Sitting here in my autographed HKS R33 GT-R shirt 👍
That Top Secret car was GORGEOUS.
Just for anyone interested, using 2 Ecus for V12s is still commonplace today. Anything with more than 8 cylinders often uses 2 Ecus, a primary and a secondary.
8:54 what a wholesome family
10:57 The Blitz R348 was the poster on my wall in school, I still love it.
you guys missed papadakis racing 1000hp a90 supra
The ABR s130z never clocked 341 kmh on the yatabae...
The run in 1994 was done by midnight club members and was covered by AUTOWORKS magazine
The car clocked a speed of 265kmh
While having engine troubles..
The picture shown in the video was taken in that year.
Golden era of JDM, miss those times
I won so many races in Gran Turismo with the TOM'S Supra. The Pennzoil Skyline was rad too. 👌
Would like to see a 'Snowmobiles Need To Chill Out" episode. Some people don't understand how fast sleds are OEM or how fast modified drag sleds can be as well.
This channel is getting better and better everytime
I love the Toyota 86/BRZ because it really feels like a successor to the old tuner car generation
Don't is the only channel where I watch their sponsored segments. They are just so good
Omg the AE86 at 9:50… memories of sega gt come rushing back at the sight of that thing
I got to see the Blitz R34 GTR in person at a car show in Oregon many years ago. One of the coolest cars I've ever seen for sure.
Now James gotta make "American Cars Need to Chill out" Hennessey gotta be in it
They literally made a video titled "Hennessy Needs to Chill Out"
th-cam.com/video/kZtLnNTWNEQ/w-d-xo.html
I like a lot of types of cars, they have a specific look that makes all cars different from each other and i like it
The veilside Supra now resides in a small Toyota tuning shop in upstate ny new. I was absolutely blown away when I saw it and it registered what it was. It’s the one built for the auto show not just one with the body kit. Absolutely insane car
Genuinely had no idea iterations of these cars existed like this. My jaw is permanently on the floor.
Can't wait to tune out a new Integra, which will definitely be remembered by all as the the greatest and most Iconic Japanese sports car of the 2020's
James going chill to nuts then back to chill on command is like his version of the Fujiwara Zone
