    The 1UZ-FE is a fantastically overbuilt Japanese V8. It's just relatively complicated engine that lacks the utterly immense amount of aftermarket support that the LS engine has, so even a lot of builds that could benefit from a smallish, very light V8 will typically go for an LS because there's so much aftermarket support for it, and that's a shame.

    oh god dont remind me about the starter haha, I have a 98 LS 400 that I beat on daily with 204k. I'd like this engine in a nissan hardbody truck.

    I'm a bigger guy but I've always loved early Toyota Corollas and Datsun sedans the 210/510 bodied cars. Also 1 series volvos. But I like weird things. I've been reading alot of good things from the Nissan vk v8s as well

      The The older Dotsons and the first generation Corollas and Celicas were really awesome.

      @@LunarOutlawsGarage Im not sure if mine is that same design, I think its the same, but it is a buick/pontiac/chevy 1992 3.1 v6 (189 ci), its a 60° v instead of 90°. It was the "buick design" of old is how it says in wikipedia. They called it the GM v6 since it was used in all makes

      @@johnwilburn I like firebreathing, 500 horse hotvrods, but I like original non molested classics too - even if they have production model engines that can drive 200,000 miles before major service. This one im working on is 92 25th anniv camaro in really good shape.

    If Toy developed the 1uzfe till now we would see plastic inlet manifold, rocker covers and slightly lighter head casting probably 10-15kgs less up top and 400hp stock but now the old vq35hr can make 420hp with bolt ons, is simpler and weighs a little less.

      The vk56de is very much that. It’s physically a race engine that ended up in a pickup. Sounds like cliché,buts it’s r&d was physically from Nissan racing division. I digress, the vk56de is truly a modern counterpart to the uz family. Hartley engines has a compare and constraint video on the vk56 and 1uz. Approximately 430lbs all aluminum high rev’ing and doch 5.6.

    • @LunarOutlawsGarage
      @LunarOutlawsGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol it came with a turbo 7mgte that produced substantially more horsepower then the old slant six. but it also came from a completely different era. His decision still baffles me why put something with less power in. The four-cylinder that came in the Miata is 180 hp 3hp more then what Motor trend was able to produce with a crap ton of money in the same type of engine that Tony used. Between the engine and transmission swap the original powertrain weighs substantially less and produces more hp in stock form and keep the car balanced.

      Don’t they weigh around 480lbs? In a little while ago didn’t Motortrend do a whole article maxing it out at around 170 hp? The Mazda Miata stock engine can produce is 180 hp.
