Guillermo Boqyin Very true, sleep was rare for him. During the concert filming of Song Remains, he was up for 5 days during those shows. Said he was so excited that he didn't want to miss a minute. I stayed up for 3 days and 2 nights once and could barely function by the end.

Night before was better. These guys play in exhausting physical states. Five shows three hours plus each, no opening act and no intermission. Five shows in a little more than a week.

Probably my most favorite dazed and confused. Robert with his oooing and aahhing during San Francisco and Jimmy, Jonesy and Bonzo improvising before the bow solo. THEN the bow solo!!! Pure genius!!!
After hearing all the different variations they did each performance I understand why they chose not to perform it in their later years, the Mighty Led Zeppelin 🤘
I completely agree with Hestondog. 1971 was all around some of their best work ever. Page, JPJ and Bonzo continued to get better and better while Plant just lets the air out of my balloon. What happened???
I was wondering if he had a cold. These Earl's Court gigs, he sounds like he's really struggling and off key--so I assumed, not taking care of himself or his voice and perhaps, coming down with something or coming down off something. haha
the plant voice and page guitar sound is perfect...they enhance each other like they are one instrument..... john paul's base then comes in and perfectly combines the two, and then you have the absolutely powerful and unmatched drumming from john bonham, and no band like the stones or the who or anyone else for that matter, has quite the combination of talent and sound....black sabbath and deep purple were also great, but led zepplin has everything, and no one can compete on this level of unity in sound and mood.....
How would Mr. Page sound playing thru a high gain amp like a bogner , Friedman , wizard classic , Jose modded Marshall, mesa boogie , splawn quick rod, metropolous even ceriatone yeti or chupa . Play dazed and confused with a more potent 100 watt amp , keep the same pickups / Les Paul.
It pains me to say this, but Jimmy Page sounds pretty sloppy here. Oh well, he's still the 4th greatest guitarist of all time in my opinion. A fantastic version nonetheless.
It's straight 8 way soundboard recording. If Jimmy would have mastered it, it would sound much better, and he also broke his finger several times through out Zeppelin.
Jumpin' JAKE Flash Jimmy perfected the "sloppy guitar" . The guy is playing his std so low its ridiculous but looks great , watch and listen what he pulls off when he's got it slung that low. Every other player on his level has their guitar nice and high so its 100x easier to play.(this is coming from someone who made the switch to play slung low) It looks even lower than it actually is cause the pants but its really low. Personally, I would take Page over anybody, nobody comes close to his style and Presence (no pun intended) He is the riff master. To top it off, he makes the blues fun, not the same ol lick over and over...

OK ... I grew up a huge LZ fan. That being said, it pains me to admit that Plant is just not a good singer in concert. I can't find many live performances where he was able to hit his notes ... and range. You have to go back to 1969 and 1971 performances to even come close. The problem with his singing isn't even that he can't hit the notes but that he continued to push it beyond his capabilities ... and the results were often awful. He never sang within his often diminished abilities. Plant would have benefited from watching Clint Eastwood in "Magnum Force" - "A man's gotta know his limitations."
get Jimmy Page's book and look at the tour dates. He was playing 3/4 nights a week, And don't reference other artists ability to go night in and night out. This was Led Zeppelin! I mean, how much sleep were these guys even getting?
Let me say this, after 1971 he couldn't sing lz1 through Lz4 well. He could sing houses of the holy because recorded that when his voice started changing, he could sing PG because he also recorded that after his voice went bad. He admits to it, he has had a few surgeries for it.
His voice changed on him, and this type of singing probably couldn't keep up night after night. Knowing that, I just try to ignore it and enjoy the whole of the shows. After the first four albums with the "younger" voice, I don't know how they could readjust everything at that point. He caught the flu during several tours also, which would be horrible to have to go through. You can see how the readjustment happened with most of his solo work after Zep.
