You know you're absolutely right this is the number one band on the planet in their day.. because they tipped it on its axis the furthest possible.. and they knew that dark side of the Moon would make them Uber gold parachute rich.. even though at the time Capitol records had their apprehensiveness.. thinking that dark side of the Moon would be a one-off 6th month number one chart they didn't expect it to be up there for 30 years or better.. it made the band in all their efforts and the rest of their lives light as a feather never anything more to worry about ever.. and all it took to write that book was a 30-day trip to a small farm

Even though they don't get along so well, it's simply and sadly ego from what I've gathered. I had the great pleasure in attending the concert in Germany in 1971. It seems a long time ago. It was the most remarkable and memorable moment of my rock 'n roll life.
Yes, this is definitely a great performance! I wish I could have been there to see them perform live, also! However, I did get the opportunity to see Pink Floyd in concert in June of 1977 in Louisville, KY which was part of their Animals tour and it was also a very memorable and great performance!

Excellent live footage. I love watching their older shows. I can watch/listen to them day and night and never get tired. I’m a Floydian for 50 years and love them just as much today.
Fascinating to watch the interview at the end because they are all so young and they admit they don't really know what they want to do next but have a vague idea it will be more theatrical....little do they all know at that stage that greatest theatrical writer possibly in history is sitting next to them in Roger Waters.
It was always thought that Waters was tone deaf and needed either Gilmour or Wright to fine tune his bass. I saw Pink Floyd on twenty occasions and that happened every time. This was in the days before digital tuners and so you had to trust your ears. I play bass guitar and have a similar problem. I can tune my guitar until it is more or less there but the fine tuning I have to rely on my digital tuner.
@@johnbaxter5150those frequencies are a lot harder for me to hear when it comes to tuning as well. Tuning a guitar by ear only takes a moment, bass on the other hand.... a nightmare without a tuner.

Not sure but . The skill David has to find the best note at the best moment when improvising, also how he has a limited vocal range but explore it so well and sing always in tune. I sometimes wonder if he has perfect pitch. This detail tuning the bass on the fly... Seems to be an extra clue to that.

It’s amazing some of the footage that’s coming out in hd and 4k from 70s performances of some of my favourite bands. The Genesis bataclan show, this Pink Floyd footage and some of the VDGG , Yes and Gentle giant stuff is superb.

Their music was so surrealistic going into the depths of the mind and the difference between sanity and the insane never taking a breadth to look back.
I think their studio albums are the best in the classic period from Meddle to the Wall but their live sound was the best at this time. Just listen to Live at Pompeii or this. I would argue it's at the same level as even their best albums
That scream during "Eugene" has still the power to scare the hell out of me like the first time i heard it 30 years ago. Their music was so dark and intense and very particular in early 70s. I have grown up with them .
Some of the coolest music I've Heard real entertaining and inspiring along with being placed in Germany and France gots some real cool vibes and architecture the other kids were watching Tom and Jerry or the Flintstones I was watching this
There is just something different about this band, the lyrics, and the way the music is layered,interweaving the depth and feeling of it sets them apart from any other band on the planet. $ wise they are not #1 but they are untouchable as innovators and tweaking music and lyrics to leave the listener feeling their music not just hearing it.

What a great yet short grouping of songs, vintage Floyd, plus so wonderful to see the 4 at the end talking about themselves with no animosity, looking back and looking forward, standing on the precipice of superstardom. Also, it has such great sound! Much of what I come across has such poor sound quality. Really wish this had been much longer. Thanks so much for posting it!!

There are words like irregular, irrelevance, irrelevant, etc... but think about that word because regardless is the exact same thing or idea you're trying to get across. It's a common mistake. Actually prog, which was called Art Rock at the time was more commercial than folks like to think. How could they have lived those rock star lives if they weren't raking in the bucks from album and ticket sales?

Atom Heart Mother in b/w with the choir being conducted is quite the high point. The rest of the material tends to be a bit on the self indulgent side, as were the times.

Early Pink Floyd vs. Original Pink Floyd vs Dark Side Pink Floyd....etc,, irregardless-- all stunningly original and truly talented bands. These performances are bone chilling on so many levels-- not the least being the venues.
There is no such word "irregardless"".... There are words like irregular, irrelevance, irrelevant, etc... but think about that word because regardless is the exact same thing or idea you're trying to get across. It's a common mistake. Just think about the definition you yourself would give to the word irregardless and you will see that it is the exact same definition that you get for regardless. Thanks for taking up five or ten minutes of my time as I lead a very lonely life

Firstly, Based on her last name and a bit of genealogy footwork I've come to the conclusion she may have family ties to the temperate foothills of the Italian Alps, where prominent, world renowned vineyards are farmed and enjoyed. Conclusion: She's partial to the vino. I posit that one evening whilst imbibing a bit too much she stumbled upon this video and, in a foggy stupor, decided to regale the TH-cam community with what was, in her mind, a flowing rainbow of dancing verbiage, undulating through the synapse, releasing a waterfall of dopamine to the would be reader. But in fact it was word vomit. Unbeknownst to her, the watchful eye and stickler for the meaning of the almighty word, zigmonger, lay in wait. Locked and loaded, ready to right the heinous, the reviled, the would be wordsmiths, he pounced. Indeed - all heroes do not wear capes.
Conclusion: Whilst falling short on her attempt to enter the halls of literature's finest, Karen is in fact, a true fan of Pink Floyd, and should be thoroughly and without prejudice, forgiven her faux pas.

Actually prog, which was called Art Rock at the time was more commercial than folks like to think. How could they have lived those rock star lives if they weren't raking in the bucks from album and ticket sales?
