    Well done. There should be a Nobel Prize category which addresses your contribution to cats 🐈 and cat owners.

    I found using a solder iron to cut out the area gave a much neater and safer edge. Just make sure the room is well ventilated when melting the plastic.

    We used a clear tote so there would be light inside. I'm assuming the hole in the lid was for light. Clear works well.

    Why not just use the big box, without putting a container in. Cut a hole up high to pour it out from

  • @imrlaps7097

    The entry has to be low, thats a big mistake she made, making it high. Kittens, injured cats, and older cats cant get into this. You can see in this video her young adult cat even had a hard time getting into it from the front. He has to crawl low to get in the first door then jump high to get into the second, all within a small distance from each other, AND since it has a ceiling to it thats gonna be even MORE uncomfortable. A low entry is necessary.

    Maybe the first door needs to be a little taller so it is easier for them to get into other box without rubbing their back, since your cat was trying duck his mid back. Great idea!

    My cat pees standing up which makes it go almost everywhere but the litterbox. I purchased a transparent tub similar to the one she uses here, 16 inches in height, and cut off half of the front on one of the short sides using a Dremel tool. Using a Dremel is quicker, neater, and makes it so that the edges of the cut plastic aren't sharp. It's better to use just one tub instead of two. As long as it's the proper size for your cat it will work just as well, and be more aesthetically pleasing.

    • @laurelparker3171
      @laurelparker3171 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is he also huge? I too have a cat who pees standing up. AND, he is huge - a 22 pound Siberian. He was a rescue kitten and we had no idea until he hit a year and just exploded into a triple coated long haired monster. . I suspect Siberians pee standing up because they live in snow and would otherwise ice their man bits. In any event, he is 12" from hineyhole to the floor. Standard and large litter boxes are typically 6" and with 2" of litter, that is 4 high. So he is peeing from about 6" above that. And because he is also long, he is up against the back edge of the box, so he needs a box long enough that he fits.
      My problem is finding a box long enough for him, that isn't 36-40" long, which is like having a second bathtub. Which, BTW, is what he currently pees in. And honestly, that is incredibly easy for me, but it's my son's bathroom (mine has no tub) and he is creeped out.
      I had no idea storage tubs come in such limited sizes. Anyone else have a giant standing pee-er?

    • @TryTheBLT
      @TryTheBLT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laurelparker3171 Nope, my baby was a regular sized house cat. She was rambunctious and for some reason I think she liked that it freaked me out when she peed standing up :) BTW did the shelter not even know that your Siberian was a Siberian, or did they just not know they get that big?

    Sweet and refreshing
    Black vanilla can have a sweet and refreshing opening with notes of bergamot, blackcurrant, coconut, and white peach.

    Milky floral
    Black vanilla can be a soft and refined milky floral scent with notes of powdery rose, jasmine petals, and candied violet.

    Strong and dark
    Black vanilla can be a strong and dark vanilla scent that's not sweet at all.

    Woodsy floral
    Black vanilla can be a woodsy floral blend that's deep and intense.

    Orange essential oils
    Black vanilla can have a hit of orange essential oils with a dash of vanilla.

    Vanilla has a sweet, warm, and delicately floral fragrance. It's often described as sweet, creamy, and slightly woody.

    Just use a regular old Rubbermaid box to fit your cat's size and cut the opening. Then insert another litter box inside to match the inside dimensions and height of the bottom opening. Use a garbage bag liner to line the interior litter box . No mess, no fuss.

    In response to the person mentioning replacing the bxs once a year cause they hold odors after being scratched, I've actually heard you should replace the litter box itself every 1-2 years because they scratch them up when they bury their "stuff" and the scratches can harbor bacteria.

    if you take a Rubbermaid tub, and cut a circle on the lid (not in the middle), put litter inside it's so much easier. not 5 different compartment. they jump in and out and then it's done

    Hi I did the same thing... but I use the big container Only ... and no cut outs .... with the lit on top sideways, slanted and held with a hook from the lit edge to the edge of the container. I made a small hole on the edge of the lit to hold the hook. This way no one can see inside the the box. Or put the lit on the tote and cut a hole right on it , My Cats Love it because they can sit staight in the litter box. This is nice for multiple Cats owners like me, I have 5 cats :}

  • @Vampyra65
    @Vampyra65 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I made a litter box like you did by trimming it and I have a coupe cats that really like to grab the sides of the box and try to pull it in as they bury when they are done. They eventually started snapping pieces off where I trimmed it and broke it all up. I had to buy a new one and didn't trim it at all and now they have to jump over the side. It's not covered and sits on the floor like a regular litter box with high sides. I like a tall litter box because they can't pee over the side.

    To smooth out the jagged edges, just hit it with a bit of fire.If you have an acetylene torch (the sharp edges melt away smooth) you could do it, or the method I use is I heat up an old metal pipe or something, & drag it across the edges. Leaves no plastic dust like if you sand it. Good video, next time wear shoes! Gots ta be professional! ^^

    I'm having the same problem. My largest cat is about 35 lbs. and he's long from head to tail and tall. What I've had to do is throw out their litter boxes about every 2 years because the plastic bottom absorbs so much odor. I hate to do it, but ... that's one of the drawbacks of plastic.

      Nazo35125 - Cats prefer to eliminate their waste in a private area. This is why covered litterboxes are so popular. Cats prefer them. Cat behavior is rooted in instinct, and their instinct tells them to poop where nobody else can find it or track them by its scent. This is also why they instinctively bury it. Cats don't think like humans, they don't have the awareness that humans have, nor do they process information in an analytical way. All they know is "I have to poop" so they look for a spot that is quiet, confined, and away from others. Covered litterboxes are ideal for this.
