It is interesting to review knives in this price range. There is a lot of "for the price" that tends to come up. I like that this 25ish dollar knife didn't need so much of this. I have quite a few budget knives, but nowadays, there is a battle for my attention as the collection gets bigger. So I will buy a $50 knife if it really stands out, but more normally 150 to 200 is the lower range.
With great price comes great expectation😂 for example at 100 bucks I don't necessarily think its that impressive for a knife to have good blade centering or good action and ergos..the lower that price goes the less I expect since it turns more and more into a piece I may or may not just throw in a toolbox haha
My go to knife I find myself grabbing this one daily out of my other knives I typically carry the a dewalt knife but once I got the flissa with the axis lock wow big difference great video thanks for sharing
When you talked about the action... it made me think, "I wonder if the OEM that puts out fake Benchmades has finally moved to making their own knives." (This is not an accusation, just an intrusive thought.) To me, for an absolute budget knife, it just needs to not be broken - lock can't be prone to failure, steel can't be mush. I am inherently suspicious of "no-name" brands until I see someone trustworthy endorse it (thus making it a "name" brand in my eyes). That's the journey I went through with We initially, Civivi, Two Sun. Maybe Flissa has a chance. That chance depends on the testing, IMO. Thanks for checking these out!
Great star is a Chinese tool conglomerate, they actually own SK tools now, and pretty much all of the Amazon tools like duratech and what not. So they are a huge company.
Saw your short on this $25 banger and thought “what the hell?” Clicked on your link and ordered it on the 4th while tending the grill. It will be here today. How can you go wrong on a $25 cross bar lock? Excited to see.
Looks like a good solid beater. But in today's market the difference in cost between beater and good budget knife is pretty darn slim. And the most important things to consider for knives at this price point are the materials genuine and is the heat treat done correctly?
It's all perspective in what you consider "good" for me my requirements for a knife to be "good" are pretty simple. Adequate tolerances, satisfying deployment, solid lock up, comfortable ergos and a sharp edge
Generally speaking I expect to pay at least $50 to get something I’m really happy with. I’m all for ditching packaging in favour of lower pricing. This isn’t available for me, but if it was, I think I’d be all over the one with the axis lock.
So I actually ended up ordering this one for a beater I could care less about, and I guess I shouldn't be surprised but the lock failed with even slight pressure pressing down on the blade. Never had an Axis Lock fail like that. Needless to say it went back. For cheap knives I can forgive almost anything except lock failure. Oh well, ended up picking up a Kizer Original in Aluminum for $33 during their sale this week, so for $14 more I got a steal of a knife. 😊
If you want a compression lock get a Spyderco. Want an axis lock aka cross lock...can get any brand. Another reason why spyderco is better than BM. Axis lock was what made BM special. Not anymore.
I totally get it. The problem is that cost doesn't always equal quality, for example I've seen knives that cost hundreds of dollars have subpar heat treats when put to a Rockwell test. What I look for is a pattern of quality, how are the tolerances? Is the blade centered, what about the lockup, is the action smooth, any detent or pivot lash etc. What I've found is that the more boxes that get checked the less likely we are to run afoul of something that the average person can't check...like heat treat..still it's no guarantee. That said I'm planning on sharpening the axis lock knife then putting it through some cut tests which should reveal a lot..thanks for watching 🙌
The 1st one is a interesting piece
Thanks for checking out a variety of knives. It’s nice to see something that is well made that pretty much everyone can afford. 🔪 ❤

Haha I made that short while also tending the grill😂 for 25$ I dig it, nifty Lil axis lock piece
Sitivien also makes some good knives in the $25.00 range
However much a praxis or mini praxis or pyrite or ekko costs for a slicer type knife is how much it costs or the kubeys
So the 50ish dollar range? So many great pieces at that pricepoint🙌🔥

I’m convinced that the crkt Piet at $15 is the best value knife
