Just ordered the cheaper version of damned designs anzu xl. First time I’ve ordered a knife in this steel. Thanks for the fantastic video. Now i need to learn to sharpen and find affordable tools to do so. Was going to buy a sharpener but its been awhile since ive seen damned design knives not sold out in canada. Seemed like more of a fun self bday present than getting sharpening means. And tbh even after researching im not sure what to buy to sharpen my knives, variety of steels too. Including a couple nitro v. Told myself i had enough knives.. last one for awhile. Thanks again for the vid. Will sub🤙

I won’t be buying one! The Vosteed Porcupine is a great-looking knife, which is legal in every way in Massachusetts, yet AMAZON WON’T SHIP TO MASSACHUSETTS! So, every time someone says “available only on Amazon,” all I can think is “EXCEPT TO ME!” And of course thousands of other Bay Staters (what other states does Amazon unreasonably discriminate against)? MOST of these knives are readily available through other dealers… ALL of which ship here! We should BOYCOTT AMAZON, until they start obeying the law, instead of… whatever it is they think they are doing…

Nope, I am a purest, nothing beats the original Raccoon top liner lock 🤣🤣 To be serious I am very taken with the Raccoon TLL and Vosteed continuing to bring even smaller knives with the top liner lock, sucks. I get that Vosteed is trying to appeal to the people informality caught in communist law on knife size (seriously I don't get the laws, my wife for years insisted that size does not matter). Look I own a Marten lovely knife, love everything about it, except for the size, its too small. OK I see I have gone off on a tangent, the ramblings of an old knife dude. Vosteed if you are listening please give us a Raccoon with the same materials and quality of the Marten. If any of you read this whole thing, sorry to waste your time. 🤨

Thumb hole and top liner lock combo... budget Smock with better (imho) blade shape and geometry, plus global T8 hardware - take my money.

I've been super impressed by the Racoon Top Liner Lock. The Porcupine reminds me of the CJRB Hectare, and possibly the Acacia.

Really, Roll? You and a whole bunch of other YTers seem to just be shilling for a knife company that is put on a marketing full court press to sell yet another derivative schmedium sized knife (Porcupine) or the “wow, we put a different blade shape on the same knife!” knife (Bowie Racoon). How is yet another functional yet boring couple of releases from Vosteed that exciting or new in any way? “Hey, look everyone! We’ve released yet another coffee mug, but this on has a slightly different curve in the handle and the container holds less liquid! It functions exactly as the last 20 mugs we put out! It looks basically the same as the last 20 as well! Isn’t this wonderful?!” 🙄😒 This reminds me of the craze for the Civivi Elementum, which looked like the bugout and just about every other plain knifey knife design out at the time (and still is out! See the Drop Bear, Lander, Yonder, et al). Everyone loved the Elementum. Until they realized it wasn’t that exciting or different. Even within Civivi‘s own lineup! And thus it is with Vosteed as history repeats itself. They basically made another slightly different psyop and raccoon. Which is derivative of the Moyarl and even the ultra premium Oz Machine Roosevelt. Come on Roll (and everyone else). I’m not saying that these and other derivative schedium knife releases we get year-in-and-out from knife companies are bad. Most are really good, functionally. But can we stop with the faux excitement about same ol’ reinvented wheel somehow being something special? You’re never gonna get anything new and exciting if you, Roll, keep shilling for stuff like this and companies like Vosteed. And my fellow knife junkies need to stop eating up the same garbage and smiling as if it’s some new delicious treat. Otherwise, we’re gonna keep being fed the same ol slop. And before The “knives - especially budget - can’t be that different and still highly functional” crowd comes out of the woodwork, I introduce to you the following knife designers and/or makers and their knives which look different yet function amazingly without breaking the bank: Vosteed(!) RSKAOS, Kizer Mini Paragon, Civivi RS71 (RS Knifeworks); Civivi Hypersonic, WE Solid, ZT 0055 (GTC), Civivi Spiny Dogfish, WE High Fin XL (Gavko). I’m not even gonna get into Ray Laconico and all the stuff he’s produced. All I’m saying is - in my bloviated way - if we keep pretending “fine“ is “amazing“ then we’re mostly just gonna keep getting “fine” instead of actually “amazing“.

Just got my Bowie Racoon yesterday and it is great. Also have the Porcupine on order. Would love to see more content on the Porcupine.

One of my favourite US knife brands, they make unique knives, I remember the EZC model which is thin and not so wide like the Cane model.

Gravity knives are not my thing. I appreciate the design, just not my cup of whisky. Remette gas come a long way in a short time. Love me some Remette knives.

The issue with reverse flicking is how polished the stops are. Scuff them baby's up a bit and you'll be reverse flicking with the best of em. Or hit up Justin David on the book of faces for some custom ones.

If the 9 and the Drift L had a baby...it would be the Drift LCT. So the LCT is what I chose...the best of both worlds!

Interesting! I don't often pay attention to MBK, just from brand saturation, but definitely gonna work harder to keep my eye on them.

So many of you quite obviously have never handled anything from MBK in your lives. I’ve handled 3 of these and they have all been identical and perfect.

Congratulations. MBK drops are erratic, to say the least. I would like this one but the big one is on my way too long grail list.

The toughness is irrelevant especially on pocket knives. Plus the 3.5 rating is the same as D2 and 440c on many lists. And we both know both can take the abuse with a quality heat treatment.

For me, and it’s my opinion, it’s a bit under whelming for the price point. Thx Rolls

When I start getting bad snail trails on my titanium scales I put them in a rock tumbler with ceramic media and some 80 grit polishing media. After a couple of hours they will look factory fresh, or better than they did!

It's nice, I like it but not $450 like it. If it was $300 I'd probably be all over it, but I get that it's a boutique brand so you are gonna pay more.

TwoSun TS129, $99 at White Mountain Knives (with discount) is a very similar knife, just a different blade shape. Front flipper instead of flipper tab. It's a spidey flicker king too. Front is contoured CF, but the back is Ti, making it even lighter and not sacrificing strength. Check it out.

Excellent hunting/gutting/skinning knife… held a good edge and great comfortable fit throughout the entire process. A+
