I'll make my own honorable mentions. $30 range would be Petrified Fish PF818 and Cold Steel Prolite (Might be more now). $50 range is the Steel Will Daitengu and the $70 range is the Real Steel Sacra Tac.
Byrd Cara Cara 2 gets my pocket time. You can "spydie" flick it open, close one-handed w/o looking at it and it's stupid easy to get it shaving sharp. The partial forward finger-choil is what makes it so simple to close and better than the Endura, IMO. EDIT - If you want a "fancy" button-lock, the Sencut Watauga gets my vote.
The steel sucks tho. I got to sharpen mine like almost weekly. When its "razor" sharp i only have to fart to make it dull 😂. Its a nice knife tho when you only open tape from boxes i guess....
@@uncleroger6713 Not gonna lie, opening packages and tearing down cardboard is the toughest workout my knives usually get. One other advantage is when someone asks to borrow your knife, you can literally give them the Byrd.
In those prices range, I have some many very good that I love. Vosteed Raccoon blue textured Aluminum Nitro V crossbar lock, Qubit witch is a great discret knife. But OMG the Vision FG is a home run for me. Nice blade shape in Nitro V, great geometry and the rock solid super lock make this knife my favorite 🔪👍🏻👍🏻
For how light duty my tasks are I'm pretty good with with the ganzo 759m (~$16). Inspired or not should I lose it working with my father its not a huge loss.
Great video and like the energy. I'm not of fan of ads built into videos. I pay for Premium because I don't want ads. If it was any longer I wouldn't watch your videos again.
I have two of the Manix 2 LW. I have the non-coated Rex 45 version from Blade HQ with the white scales (they were out of the coated ones and I didn't want to miss out) and I also have the Blue scaled CPM S110V version as I wanted a bit more edge retention. Probably should have sprung the extra for the Maximet, but I was concerned about the small difference in toughness between the two and some say the edge is chippy on the Maximet steel sometimes.
I think the Byrd Raven is pretty awesome for the price. Sturdy liner lock, good finger choil and CTS-BD1 steel great hard use knife I have used for years.
Hey hey hey hey hey hey you mentioned the Escort in Burlap Micarta and the New Drop Bear I got those at the beginning of the year when they came out how to adjust the Omega springs but they are awesome great value
As usual, im always behind on the latest and greatest, but I just have to mention the knife that I picked up a few months back for only $35, open box deal on eBay, But I don’t think the msrp was very much more than that, and man, even though I do remember lots of you guys bragging about the knife a while back, I truly didn’t think I would be carrying it as much as I have been, but it has really been that good! The Civivi Riffle. It’s one that’s been in my pocket quite a bit lately..
You’re right Jerad : got the vision fg in Damascus and it’s a great one especially with this blade geometry as I use it during my meals at home almost every day
Ganzo has that adamanti in titanium and S35VN and if I’m not mistaken it’s around $100! Edit: $129 so with 10% off just above our price threshold but not by much.
Heh. Don't turn me in but I just picked up MagnaCut DLC SALT Para2 for just over $100. That's what I'm now calling my budget EDC. I'm not fond of the scales so now looking for replacements.
The one that i have that I think is the best version and the one that was the most valuable doesn't exist anymore now they use low grade micarta instead of the USA made quality stuff, or g10 so I think the model is amazing but there's a ton of competition right now, I could do a top 50 honestly and they would all be Absolute Bangers
Thanks for the prompt response! Im thinking of getting either the sokoke, vision fg, racoon, button lock Elementum, or the CIVIVI RS71. Can’t decide haha
There are 2 different lock types for the Raccoon. The original was a button lock that some people had lock failure with. The other (later version) has a crossbar lock.
@@garryflint7419the black one in the vid is their TLL lock which is essentially the same as Spyderco Smock - a compression lock with a button. Maybe @neeves doesn’t even realise it.
its still a button lock, it uses a button to disengage regardless the engagement but yes i shoulda defined how it locks since the button lock is broad term and the compression or reverse liner versions are much stronger than plunge
@@NeevesKnives true, it’s still a button lock but that’s usually associated with the plunge lock style that have been prone to failing recently. Best of luck failing a compression lock
Fact of matter... I carry knife primarily for self defense but also edc for normal purposes of course... Never had to defend myself with knife fortunately. None the less...
Better to be safe than sorry, I think a blade for defense is a multi purpose tool, think cutting seat belt, or saving a child's life from a dog attack etc..
A folding knife over 50 dollars is budget. I get uk and canada cant have fixed blades, but a knife i cant use heavy duty and have survive usnt worth mkre then 50 bucks. Yes they are cool, but you guys are drivung the prices way up. Any folder then out perfrom a 20 dollar fixed blade is garbage , the bells and whitles are cool, but they will break if use for hard use beyond boxes and small tasks. Seriously, this has got to stop, they are literally pricing people out of decent folders.
Serene.Qubit,Rex Manix,Kershaw Launch,Kizer Escort,Drop Bear and the fanf:cking tastic Civivi Vision. Half I bought because of thee and half because of me. Either you burped the baby that made my sensibilities or Our DNA profiles have the same masculine proclivites. Either way I’m very happy and enjoyed your content. Dog likes talent and you got a pile. Thank.
This is a solid list without question. Drop Bear and vision FG are excellent knives I own them both and you can’t go wrong with either, I will say the Drop Bear I feel has a better overall ergonomic experience because there are zero hot spots which the vision series does have a hottish spot with the clips. Qubit is also an outstanding knife with the right price and next level performance for sure!
@@darkbrain4211 It has a stop pin that prevents the edge from hitting the lock bar in the closed position. However, it hits right behind the edge. Therefore, the edge will eventually hit the lock bar if it has been sharpened enough.
I like the popups for the steel characteristics on this video, nice addition. Just thought someone should give you some props 😀
Agreed! Very helpful.
Kizer Mini Roach is a good one too and only $45. It's in my carry rotation.
