- How to carve a Foam Pumpkin and make a Halloween Mask - Easy Tutorial. In this video I go over all of the steps it takes to carve your own foam Pumpkin and detail it using Foam Clay. From cutting the pumpkin using a hot knife to sculpting on additional details I also show how I painted this pumpkin using Liquitex acrylics. This costume mask is lightweight and very scary! You can use these techniques to create your own mask or use this for a custom scarecrow this Halloween season.

Elastic is great with foam. I just used some on armor I'm building in a similar way to your pumpkin's jaw to pull the pauldrons back into place after raising my arms. Great vid as always and a pretty simple build for beginners!

How do you not burn the mask with the heat tool

Question, how do you make the jaw Go up and down like you're talking? I mean it's done by your own jaw? I guess I'm wondering how do you push it down looking to create a character for me and my wheelchair and this seems like the one that might be it
Yeah, it’s right under her chin so when she moves her jaw it moves the mask. Then the elastic pulls the mask back up

Do you use a special type of hot glue? Regular hot glue I've gotten at dollar stores or Walmart doesn't seem to hold up very well
