Hearing that old V-8 Cat fire up was mint! Great job, Wayne! She runs smooth, and quiet, for sitting that long! Brought back some great memories! That truck was a stepper in its day! You are just the guy to bring her back! You two goobs polishing that shift knob was classic!

You're collection is starting to look like one of a kind. The Pete , Cabover with a V12 and now 3408 that rolls on a dime. Good for you man. Your face bringing home that Cat was priceless. Now that she rolls over... that's a large relief. That engine compartment is going to need alot of love...but you're the man to do it.
Now you're going to have a huge dilemma. Which Pete tows the other to a show? I know you must be curious as to how she pulls loaded. Can't wait to see her roll down the driveway.
    Happy weekend man!💪

My second suggestion is give it to me! But my first is see how she does, the first truck I've ever driven was a 76 kw with the 3408 cat in it. My uncle owned it and loved that truck. So seeing that 3408 crank up just like that was great. And she sounded healthy too. Good luck with her.

I worked for a Company in Scranton Pa. One Summer, I parked my tractor because I got burnt out from the road so! I decided to take a daily job and get back to health So, I drove a Ch Mack for a Company hauling stone one day pulling a hill the Turbo went!! Well I called the Boss man! He brang brang down a new Turbo? and Gasket. They replaced it, I mentioned it to them they should take the tubing and intercooler off and clean up and flush it? They told me you just drive the truck mister Trailer Truck driver. Well they Rolled the Dice put on the new Turbo there young Mechanic that was autistic he was standing on the fuel tank turned it over! I was standing right by the fuel tank when it fired up full throttle, when all of a Sudden that Mack E427. Screamed to life and oil started shooting 30 feet out of the stack,s for about 30 Second,s till it run dry and then we all ran we told the autistic Mechanic shut it off he turned the key off and was holding it in his hand! We We're yelling to him pull the red knob engine stop out. By then a big explosion. I ain't never in my 45 years of driving truck seen a Engine throw internal parts thru the oil pan and split the engine block in half. That whole summer that truck was down it literally ruined everything in the engine was destroyed even busted the bell housing and ruined the countershaft in the transmission! and this ain't no Bullshit Story.

Now that is an epic find and you should be proud of it! Not only is it a 3408, but you’ve got the DITA version on your hands, which was the most powerful 3408 you could get from the factory. That engine will crank out 450 horse @2100 rpm and 1460 lb ft @1200 rpm.

Hi Wayne, you sir are hellva a mechanic to be able to stab that 3408 starter in on the first try, good on ya.Just caught your channel,Love the content, and filming. Now that you have done a first start on a CAT 08,you have now a chance to do the great trifecta. A V-12 Detroit, CAT 3408,and a CUMMINS K series, you could do a KT, or KTA.The super diesel engines of the 70's-80's,Ok Ok I guess you can put the V-8 MACK in that category too.Have been trucking since the 70's,second generation.I now own a 1995 FLD132 with a 64" bunk, powered by 1987 3406B CAT,which I would not trade for a newer Semi. Was so excited to hear that 3408 fire up so easily,Those CAT's are over built for a trucking application, originally made for working with rocks and dirt.Keep those ACE videos coming, looking forward to the next first start.C-Ya

Happy for ya Wayne , that Kitty sounds smooth , do what you do , a little at a time when you can and $$ funds afford it , Awesome piece to the collection , like the 352 as you said I'd keep it as original as possible , as mentioned when you picked the truck up that's a different hood but looks good on there , fresh paint on the chassis , aluminum and chrome polished , buff the existing paint 👍👍👍👍 , the best part the shift knobs polished resto is almost complete LOL !!!!

Ol2Stroker brings a 4-stroke back to life... guess that explains the weird weather. Strapped the fuel tank to the drive shaft... uhhhh... I might not be the brightest knife in the chandelier, but seems to me the tank is connected to the frame, so maybe use the strap to hold the tank to the frame and not the drive shaft. Oh, well, what's done is done. Looking forward to the next installment.

Dude, when that CAT lite off and sat there PURRING smooth as silk, I got goosebumps! Another rare gem and that shift knob. Creativity went out the door when the 80's ended. Start of plastic garbage with NO class began to kill the era of awesome trucks. Check out the low D.O.T #. Set of 8in straight pipes would sound great on that v8 as well the v12. Always enjoy the phrases you use with the sense of humor, love it!
