Wow! I recognized the Double Eagle sleeper and generator box right away! They custom built every one of those, I got one of the last ones they made installed on my FLD 120 condo at Double Eagle right before they went out of business! (2008'ish) They got container loads of Kubota diesel's and the Marathon generator heads, and built them in house from scratch! The Double Eagle sleepers of that vintage were built very well, and stood up to the test of time! What a great truck!

I think it still made consistent 6 to 7 mpg when loaded pulling a 28' pup. Seeing the 12V shoehorned in this truck reminded me of how that truck had both trannies out behind the cab. Love the flag & pole. As for the whole electric car thing, I believe the plan to be to control how much we can travel when we don't like the job markets/quality of life issues coming up. Totally agree with you guys , no way evs and batteries can be the majority of power for cars an trucks. Totally not sensible or practical and will cost a fortune! Bring back these type of engines, awesome!
Dude that is freakin rad! From the needle nose packin a v12 right down to the Lego trucks! Somewhere there’s pics of the trucks I built back in the day. Sent them in to Lego to get featured in their magazine. But they weren’t nearly as detailed as these. Outstanding work Wayne and friends!
When I was much younger I drove an old international cab over pulling tri-deck cattle trailer in west Texas. One evening I was on I-10 hauling a load doing the best I could do at 55 mph. All of a sudden one of these trucks with the V12 pulling an aluminum tanker trailer blew by me like I was standing still. I called him over the cb and we chatted until he was out of cb range. Said he was cruising, fully loaded at 100 mph at a whopping 1.5-2 mpg.

What a fantastic, old truck! So much potential and it sounds great. Back in the 70's and into the 80's, before truck manufacturers started making their own deluxe sleepers, companies like Double Eagle were the best and most expensive. Double Eagle sleepers were custom built items for the kings of the road. I think the number one manufacturer of APU's back then was Onan.
& u know the pictures in my mind of just how beautiful of a period correct restoration inside & outside & just 2 think of just how 1st place trophies that truck would bring when totally completed!!!

By far the coolest collection I've seen
Such a rad old truck! And how cool to for an heirloom like that to survive and outlive people!
They're so lucky. For a truck to survive that long in it's original family this day in age is just unheard of. That kinda story is irreplaceable
Wayne you run in a circle of awesome brothers! Thanks for taking me along, much appreciated my brother!
I have some great friends Terry! I love taking y'all along for the ride.
Great video Wayne the 351 with the V12 is incredible and the Lego trucks are awesome. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Wayne.
Thanks Richard glad you enjoyed it. That 351 is a once in a lifetime kinda truck!
Wayne a friend of mine has on up in canada. He added turbos &put scoops on side of hood to clear turbos!!
That pinstripe guy does one hell of a job, we have guys here in the upper peninsula that bring trucks down for him to do
Oh no way! That's cool you know of him too.
Damn, those Lego models were badass! And what a super unique and rare truck! Great video!
Thanks Trip!
Thanks Cole we sure appreciate it!
And here was I thinking it's only going to have a stinkin' 6V71N or an 8V at best. The surprise caused me to have to go lie down for half an hour LOL.
Lol I purposely didn't use a thumbnail with the hood open!
Sheeeewwww buddy! That's rollin
When I was a child I used to love drawing these trucks
That's awesome Trent! I think a lot of us did
That last pic of the guy working on the truck Iv saw that pic for years on the net now I know we're it came From that 351 is killer thought the box looked out of place then saw the gen in it and wow this guy was doing this years ago that was a great video Wayne hope to see some more on this series 😎👍🇺🇲
Thanks Dave I thought the same thing that apu was way ahead of it's time
I think we need much more info on Rose Uphaus Trucking. Appears they may have invented "Old Scool"
@@andrewnorris1514 they sure had a hand in it! Legendary!
@@Ol2Stroker after doing some research I beleive Cam Lavin would be best to set you straight. But everybody used Sheller wheels.
@@andrewnorris1514 Cam is always THE guy. He's a friggin encyclopedia
Amazing Peterblit and your mates Lego is something else. Favourites are the 2 limited Liberty's and Monfort trucks. Great content, Wayne.
Seriously where else on the planet are you gonna see 2 Lego Monfort trucks under a triple t!
maybe the coolest & rarest truck I have ever seen
I remember his dad and uncle by face. One night I was at great lakes truck parts when a little window pete gravel train rolled in with the v12. May have been this truck. It was blue and it's burned right in my brain. It was like O M G. Uphaus had some really cool stuff. The ran trucks other guys were afraid of. Really good movies when I saw this video it was such a treat is Rose and Jim Uphaus still going?
Yup Jim is still around he's the old guy in the video. Not sure on the rest.
I believe he was speaking of Jim Sr and no sadly Rose and Jim Sr have both passed.
Thanks Rachel for chiming in. I didn't realize Jim was a JR. Thanks!
thanks for the Lego tour I got my first Lego set in about 1966. and it was a bunch of sets at my mom got somehow and my dad built me a wooden box to put the Lego in. still have the box and I still have most of the Lego. It added to when my son came of age and now it's been added to again now that my grandsons are coming of age so it's something that has always been a part of my life that I've always enjoyed it. thank you very much and I certainly do like that 351 that will be something when finished. thanks, Bob, Virginia USA
That's super cool Bob thanks for sharing. I don't know what happened to most of my Legos sadly.
@@Ol2Stroker Thanks! It's nice when folks read the messages.
Did you say that you are or were a New Yorker? I grew up on Long Island then we moved Upstate to a town named Walton. I'm in Virginia now in the Shenandoah Valley. I'd heard about the 351 V12 or was it a v16? I heard many tales of someone on Rt17 racing guys with empty trucks while his was loaded. I wish I could remember better....
Hello from S.W. Michigan, Watervliet. Once I heard how you felt about our present political situation I immediately subscribed! Finally, young men with intelligence and Red White and Blue blood! God bless you all!
Super cool 351! Legos are amazing 👏
Thanks James!
Those 12v 71 DD the sound they made sends shivers up my spin thank you guys I haven’t heard that sound in years many years
What a special truck that is! 351 with a 12v71 in it, is awesome and just what the truck is. Thanks and would like to see more of it one day.
It's such a special truck I love it! It'll definitely be on the channel again.
Double Eagles are for sure large car material. I'm so thrilled this one is so untouched after all this time
apu's were RARE
What a awesome truck ,we had a 66 at work years ago 335 NH Cummins powered, never imagined a 12v71 in one of them babes
& u know the pictures in my mind of just how beautiful of a period correct restoration inside & outside & just 2 think of just how 1st place trophies that truck would bring when totally completed!!!
There wouldn't be a trophy on the planet it couldn't win when finished
@@Ol2Stroker excattally bud,, & all my best wishes 4 them towards that goal !!!
That narrow nose Peterbilt reminds me of the dirty, rusty Pete in the movie Duel. Great video by the way.
Thanks!
Out of the park Wayne. Out of the park!!!!
Thanks Johnny!
I'm impressed on the air holding ability of that old truck!
Ehhhhhh we had to fill the tanks quite a bit. But I've certainly seen worse that set for less time!
@@Ol2Stroker when you push started it the first time did you fill them then?
I don't remember tbh
One of your best, you didn’t take long to get it running, an awesome truck. Hope the restore goes well. Safe drive home.
Thanks man I was shocked at how easily it fired up!
well cared for like a family member
That is certainly a beauty pretty cool with what he does with the Legos to
Hell yea thanks David!
What a lovely old truck Wayne,
Absolutely Alan I love it!
Super cool old peterbilt
Hell yeah Chris I thought so too!
@@Ol2Stroker they was a guy here in rome ga had a mack b61 that was a similar axle setup as that pete and he had a peterbilt bunk on it the guy built that truck from the ground up . Your friends peterbilt is one of a kind with with a cool history
@@chriscargle2639 that's super cool I love that stuff that has badass history! Thanks man!
@@Ol2Stroker your welcome . I'm the same old trucks and the stories that go with them make the truck more interesting
@@chriscargle2639 that's the best part of old trucks for me!
Starts and runs like it was on the road yesterday awesome
Yea I was very excited with how it started and ran!
What a gem. The truck is very cool, but that sleeper is badass. I did trade shows back in the early 80's with Bekins and Mayflower and drove peterbilts with the double eagle sleepers. Those folks in Shipshewana did beautiful work. Those gensets were a pain in the butt to keep running ,but they sure made life nice. Great stuff as always Wayne. You always find the coolest stuff.
I do stumble into some really great trucks! Thanks Scot
What a beast of a engine. Great tune up, so weird no points!!!!
Wow. TOTALLY FLIPPIN' AWESOME VIDEO. Im a 3rd Generation Trucker, that 351 is a Jewel no doubt. My best friend committed suicide back about 12 years ago we was both raised in a truck and family but he always loved his Legos,, he built all kinds of cars and trucks ,,But that Lego collection he would pf absolutely had conniption fit over --- Wow 👌 Speechless Top Shelf Lego Rides -- Peace ✌ Love 💚 and 18 Wheelz Y'all. Hey brother thanks for the love, sorry about your friend that's tough.
Oh how I miss warming up my old Hayes hdx 1000 every morning I would get that sweet music of a v-12 Detroit
Hayes are such cool trucks I sure wish you still had it so you could send me some pictures!
I never knew you could get a 12v71 in a 351 Pete. I've seen 8v71 and small cam Cummins, but never a 12v71. I always thought those radiators we're way too small in those needle nose Petes. Super cool, learn something new every day
Yessir you could and they are probably the rarest of all the Pete's. He's really got a gem here I'm jealous
This is the rare long hood 351 with the deep radiator. 127" BBC.
I believe peterbilt built approx 10 with v-12 long hoods!!💥
Butterfly hood that is!!
@@ruxoneto6560 I know it was a very low number.
Awesome video, back in the day those boomerang antennas were the shit, had one on the passenger mirror of the OTR truck I drove until one day it decided to take flight & I had to chase it down out in a field. lmao SOB didn't come back like they are supposed to ( boomerang ) Those Lego builds are bad ass Matt Uphaus very nice work sir
🤣🤣🤣 I always wondered if they'd actually boomerang. Now I know!
Awesome Pete with that V-12. The detail on the Lego trucks are insane!! Very talented!!
I'm jealous of both honestly!
@@Ol2Stroker no doubt!! The model he made of your Cabover Pete was "Sick"!!!

Happy to share thanks for watching Scott!
The first truck that I ever worked was a double bunk KW COE with a 12V 71 that the owner installed turbo’s. It was my first experience with an air starter, and I about crapped my shorts when another mechanic started it up.
