Tbh it would be courage because I don’t really want to have power as I’m not a great handler at it, wisdom, maybe, but I go to school so I’m fine, I’ll learn stuff anyway, in the long way, so not really. I need courage as I’m not that brave, and I want to be.

@@candy_face7796 Majora’s Mask Link as “Hero of Spirits”? That doesn’t make much sense, because it’s literally just the same Link as Ocarina, he’s the exact same Hero of Time. Yeah he’s on a different adventure but he doesn’t need/get a new title just because of that, the one in Link’s Awakening and Oracle games still has the same title.
So “Hero of Spirits” works pretty good for Spirit Tracks imo. Especially since he’s on the Spirit Train, on the Spirit Tracks, with a spirit Zelda, using the Spirit Flute, trying to repair the Spirit Tower; you get the picture lol

8:55 it’s actually somewhat confirmed in game by the king of red lions in the 2nd quest when talking to jaboon in ancient hylian, and i quote “the one who i brought with me has no connection to the legendary one.” basically kinda setting in stone that hero of winds was just some random kid who had great courage.

    • @Marlotix
      @Marlotix ปีที่แล้ว +61

Hyrule Historia and Zelda Encyclopedia both say each Link contains the spirit of the hero. And "has no connection" could be taken to mean spiritually but could also equally mean by blood. I doubt either of them would be able to simply tell if Link contains the spirit of the hero, and we aren't even sure if they're aware Link usually reincarnates anyway (until Breath of the Wild, it seemed no one did, except Ganondorf's cut dialogue in Twilight Princess). Of course, you could also argue "having the spirit of the hero =/= being a reincarnation" I guess.

    • @alchemysaga3745
      @alchemysaga3745 ปีที่แล้ว +33

The problem with using The King of Red Lions' dialogue with Jaboon as 'evidence' that Wind Waker Link isn't the Spirit of the Hero is twofold.
The first problem is that The King of Red Lions and Jaboon, obviously, exist within the restraints of the world of WW. In the case of the King of Red Lions, he also exists within the mindset of someone who has overwhelmingly been in isolation for hundreds of years, with his only real knowledge of the Hero being.... that the Hero didn't come to save Hyrule hundreds of years ago. Meaning that his words _can't actually be taken as objective fact._ He's saying what he thinks, with all the millenia of misinformation caused by oral tradition.
The second problem is the existence of Skyward Sword on the whole. As a later entry to the series and one that Nintendo and Miyamoto were both *aggressively* involved in the development of, any information given in Skyward Sword takes priority over information given in any prior games. Meaning that the bit about how "the Mastersword is actually _Master's Sword,_ and can ONLY be wielded by the warrior with the soul of THE Hero;" takes precedence over the information given in Wind Waker. Including the bit about "not being the soul of the Hero."
The problems with the "the spirit of the hero is dead forever" theory extend to Spirit Tracks. Demise's curse is literally overriding. No Spirit of the Hero, no Zelda with divine power from her divine heritage, and no embodiment of the hate of the Demon Tribe. The Malodus is still an evil that would fall under the Curse of Demise. It's not something that was ever limited to just Ganondorf and Ganon.

It seems obvious to me that the downfall timeline is simply the original timeline, and that Zelda used the Ocarina to turn back time after Link's death to give him another chance, creating the adult timeline. If she was already prepared to do something that drastic just so Link could experience his full childhood, then surely she would do the same if the hero were to fail and Ganon to win.

  • @jetfighter7205
    @jetfighter7205 ปีที่แล้ว +97

I think the timeline split happened because Ganon originally won, leading to the Fallen Timeline. Zelda, seeing the devastation wrought by Ganon, decided to use her time powers to send a dream to her past self, which allowed past Zelda to be on the lookout for a boy in green. In the "Original" Fallen Timeline, Link found Zelda, but was unable to convince her in time that Ganon was evil and killed the Great Deku Tree since she never had her prophetic dreams from her future self. They escape the coup with the help of Impa and wage a great war against Ganon and his minions for some 7 years or so. They eventually come up with a plan for Link to acquire the Master Sword, so with the help of the other races, launch a siege against Castle Town, rush towards the Temple of Time, and open the doors. Link takes the Master Sword, opening the way to the Sacred Realm, but Ganon was one step ahead of them. He kills Link and makes his way into the Sacred Realm, and the rest is told in legend. This would also explain why Twinrova is still alive, because they don't end up dying in this war.

7:18 no, Malon’s mom wrote Epona’s song and taught it to Malon. But I DO believe the hero of time ended up with her. Which makes me happy, because they were absolutely perfect for each other.
I also think the Hero of Twilight’s father was a swordsman of some sort, like his great (or great great) grandfather and Rusl who takes Link under his wing (my theory is he was friends with Link’s father and they were in the guard or whatever together, which is why he looks after Link after his parents die)

I have a rather unhinged idea about the timeline split in Ocarina of Time.
The split itself occurs on three parts according to the individual wills of each Triforce piece holder, with each piece altering reality to do so, even to the degree of the Downfall Timeline paradoxically existing alongside the Adult and Child Timelines.

But that original idea was scrapped, I think it was because it was hard to convey the idea of those chips instead of something more ideal like a triforce.

I’ve always had a theory as to why Link and Zelda in twilight princess already have their triforce pieces, and why the Triforce split up in the child timeline in the first place.
I think that when Link returned to his own time at the end of OOT, his body had already been “chosen“ by the Triforce of courage, but just another timeline. So I think the Triforce in the child timeline sensed his presence and automatically hid itself within him, which then sent the other two pieces to their respective wielders as well. This is why Ganondorf, somehow, miraculously gained the Triforce of power when he was about to be executed. The try force of courage was then passed down through Link’s descendants.

    So my theory on Ganon.
The triforce pieces all can transform the wielder into a beast imbued with the power of the respective piece when they're on the verge of death, or great stress. Ganon turns into a massive boar, one of the most dangerous and powerful animals. Courage transforms into a courageous beast like you said. In this case, a wolf. It's not known what wisdom would transform into. Perhaps an owl or something. But Kaepora Gaepora? Rauru had the whole triforce at the time did he not? What's not to say he'd utilize it to guide link?
Or perhaps changes their identity entirely? Shiek for example, or since Ganon had all 3 pieces in ALttP, Agahnim.

"An incarnation of my hatred shall forever haunt the spirit of the hero AND the blood of the goddess" or something like that. I think Majora is a completely separate demonic entity, perhaps not as powerful as Demise but relatively very powerful for a Demon, and much more direct.

I don’t think he is descended from any other Links or anything, I just think the way he demonstrates unshakeable courage is like the sign that he does have the spirit within him.

I think the idea of “the spirit of the hero” completely accounts for an unconnected lineage of heroes. Sometimes they are descended, but that in no way is a prerequisite of possessing the spirit of the hero. The only character with a prerequisite of lineage is Zelda who will always possess “the blood of the goddess”. Wind Waker Link is not all that unique in that aspect. I think like half of the Link’s are ultimately just random kids who possess the hero’s spirit.

Regarding the Hero of Winds and his connection to the spirit of the hero, Hyrule Historia and the Zelda Encyclopedia both say that every Link contains the spirit of the hero, so this would obviously include the Hero of Winds.
And moving on to my own speculation:
I think it's meant to be that the Hero of Winds isn't related to the Hero of Time by blood. In the King's conversation with Jabun, it's explicably said they were searching for someone related to the Hero of Time, if not the Hero of Time himself, and the King says that TWW Link "has no connection" to the Hero of Time. "No connection" can obviously be taken to mean he doesn't contain the spirit of the hero, but it can also simply mean he's not related to the Hero of Time by blood. And I doubt either the King nor Jabun would be able to tell whether or not Link is reincarnated from the Hero of Time, and it's not even made clear if they know that Link usually reincarnates. Ganondorf also said he believes the Hero of Winds to be "the Hero of Time, reborn" but this could simply be metaphorical. The Tower of the Gods and its purpose to test a new hero is also often cited as evidence, but other Links have had to go through similar challenges, such as the Links in A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds needing the Pendants of Virtue in order to prove themselves worthy of wielding the Master Sword. Also, you say ST Link lends to the theory, but I'd argue the opposite, and that his existence serves as proof that the spirit of the hero still exists in the Adult Timeline.
tl;dr I believe the Hero of Winds holds the spirit of the hero and is a reincarnation like the other Links, however he's explicably not related to any previous Link by blood.
47:55 Also, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say the manual for A Link to the Past has been retconned. Hyrule Historia implies, like you said, that he extracted the Triforce of Wisdom from Zelda after defeating Link

I saw someone else say that the original Japanese version of Wind Waker has that line be different from the King of Red Lions to Jabun and so the English translation is faulty and can't be used as evidence. I haven't looked into this myself yet. Also Skyward Sword came after WW (in terms of release order) and so its reality takes precedence over anything before it due to all the work put into it to make it a true origin for the different iterations of Link/Zelda/Ganondorf. And Skyward Sword says only Link can wield the master sword so WW Link *has* to be spiritually the same Link as the rest.
Also agreed about ALttP manual having been retconned since it contradicts too much of what they've said more recently and it was written so long ago before the games were even a huge series so isn't really accurate anymore.

I still have issues with the "Wind Waker Link isn't the Spirit of the Hero," particularly because the 'evidence' for it primarily comes from the King of Red Lions.
And the problem with using The King of Red Lions' dialogue with Jaboon as 'evidence' that Wind Waker Link isn't the Spirit of the Hero is twofold.

    • @furyberserk

      1. Ww link has to take the trials to become the hero. He doesn't have the spirit.
      2. The master's sword thing was likely because demise would return, not because of demises curse. Zelda has held the sword in botw and totk, but not knowing if as a weapon. Welding the sword was for those who were worthy such as gaining all 3 pendants. "Welding" is a word is the problem.
      3. Why would Malus, a demon of his own be affected by the curse. He stole Zelda's power and Zelda's friend went to save her. It's as flimsy as Vaati or Majora being cursed with it.

    • @alchemysaga3745

@furyberserk 1. He went through a Trial set by the Goddess to be prepared to be the Hero. Like literally *every* Link before him, and those that would follow after him.
      2. *ALL* versions of Zelda are the descendents of the Goddess, invested with her power and authority. They're the only people who aren't link who can canonically handle the Master Sword *at all.* Anyone else can't touch it.
      3. Demise was the leader of the Demon *tribe.* With the Demon Tribe being described as being *all demons* born from the world. If they're a Demon, they *canonically* have a connection to Demise. What is Malodus described as? *A member of the demon tribe.* What is Majora described as? A demon sealed into a mask by a tribe.
The Curse of Demise *canonically ties the three of them together.* If there's no agent of Demise, there's no Princess imbued with the power of the Goddess, and no agent imbued with the Spirit of the Hero.
No agent of Demise, means no Link. No Link, no Zelda. No Zelda, *no legend of Zelda.*
*The Curse of Demise IS the Legend of Zelda.* You can not separate the two.

Demise was Lord of the Demon Tribe. Girahim took that position after Demise was sealed away. Vaati is also a member of that very tribe. However, Ganondorf's power and rage is superior to them all. He himself calls himself the Demon king. It's also why the Master Sword is only ever used when fighting against him usually. It's creation was to fight against Demise and his power.
Side note. Majora was from a completely different dimension and has completely different origins, proving as well there is no tie to Demise

I think BoTW and ToTK have done a great job of finally explaining something to me. In the fallen timeline there are two Zelda's because when all else failed, Zelda could have been sealed away in the hopes of one day fixing something that went wrong in her timeline, or to at least save the goddess bloodline. I say that cause BoTW shows Zelda going into stasis by magic. ToTK showed us that 2 Zelda's can exist due to a time paradox. We know of healing and sealing chambers litter the series. I think then that game ends the timeline cause Zelda goes back to as a kid and warns Link that Ganon is a bad man.

I really wish we would have gotten another zelda game of OOT/MM link continuing his journey to find Navi, and then eventually returning to Hyrule as an adult with the all masks from MM.

Alternate reality? I think the Downfall Timeline was the only true timeline and the other two were just stories that the Hylian survivors told to maintain hope.

I like to have head cannon that each Link is a reincarnation of the Skyward sword link… like a bond beyond time with Zelda/Hylia’s reincarnations as each Princess Zelda. It seems that atleast in the Hero Wins timeline, most links are just straight descents of the last 🤷🏻‍♂️ atleast with the hero of time and twilight Princess

The only ones confirmed to be bloodline connected afaik are OoT Link and TP Link. The rest canonnically speaking are reincarnations. What you've said I'd honestly say is actual, real, confirmed canon. Demise's curse on Link and Zelda said "You people who possess the blood of the Goddess and the SOUL of hero". He specifically says *soul*. The curse is on Hylia's bloodline and the hero's soul. *Zelda* has to be bloodline connected as that's the only way to be a descendent of the Goddess Hylia, but nothing in his curse says the hero is connected by bloodline.

As others have stated, the "spirit of the hero" ("soul of the hero" in JP Skyward Sword and both EN & JP Breath of the Wild) isnt a bloodline connection. Anyone can have the spirit of the hero within them.
    Zelda from Skyward Sword:
    EN:
"To face Demise and give the land hope, the goddess, Hylia, needed someone with an unbreakable spirit.
    That someone is you, Link.
But spirit alone wasn't enough. You had to overcome many trials and awaken the hero within yourself so that you could wield that supreme power.
    JP:
"That’s why Hylia chose a human with a strong soul, for the sake of the world’s hope and to destroy the “Shuuen no Mono”...
    And that’s you.
But, in order to control the Absolute Power... Your soul needed overcome several trials and you needed to awaken as a Hero."
    Demise from Skyward Sword:
EN: "Those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero... They are eternally bound to this curse."
JP: "You people who possess the blood of the Goddess and the soul of hero shall... forever be unable to escape from this curse!"
Impa from Breath of the Wild:
    EN:
The history of the royal family of Hyrule is also the history of Calamity Ganon, a primal evil that has endured over the ages.
This evil has been turned back time and time again by a warrior wielding the soul of a hero, and a princess who carries the blood of the Goddess.
This is the spirit of the hero AKA Hylia/Zelda's Chosen Hero. It is eternally connected to Hylia/Zelda bloodline AND to Ganon by Demise curse. They will always appear together.
So if Ganondorf and Zelda appear in The Wind Waker, a warrior MUST have the "spirit of the Hero" awaken within them, to fulfill the parameters of the curse.

Is the Fallen Timeline where Link gets defeated in combat by Ganondorf, or is it merely the future(s) that Link leaves to change the past before being ready to face Ganondorf at the end of OoT?

41:05 yeahhh... that doesn't work. Otherwise a couple of the games have multiple Ganons, since Ganon isn't always killed. Majora for example was made from hexing rituals and sealed in a mask. It's not a demon, more the embodiment of curses. And in the MM child timeline, Ganon isn't killed nor sealed (until decades or even a few centuries later), he simply fails to take over Hyrule.
Also in Four Swords Adventures, Vaati and Ganon are both alive and very clearly separate beings.
Ganon is the eternally reincarnating incarnation of Demise's hatred. Demise literally says "an incarnation of my hatred will follow those like you, who possess the Blood of the Goddess, and Spirit of the Hero, for all eternity" (Probs not a perfect quote). But rather than cursing Hylia or Link, it seems more like Demise cursed himself, to have his soul forever hounding the souls of Link and Hylia.
Also, a strangely common misconception, Dark Beast Ganon. It is not actually a Ganon. Rather it's simply the by-product of the latest Ganondorf's hatred and literal Malice.
And the most common misconception is that people seem to be placing BoTW (and now ToTK) near the end of the timelines, when it is clearly set in it's own timeline. It's more obvious in ToTK, but these 2 games are set around 10,000 years after the OoT period. The difference is that instead of the Hero of Time, there was a time-traveling Zelda. And Rauru is a Zonai instead of a Hylian and doesn't live in the sacred realm.

There might be a actually 4 branch timeline that you brought up that interesting. What if breath of the Wild was when link opens the temple of light to retrieve the master Sword in time and the Tri-Force didn't split and he got his wish? There would be no Sages and Links not old enough to slay him. Remember he not drunk with power, as the tri-Force hasn't corrupted him to wanting more power, as he only want the kingdom for him people to survive. But the scenes depicted in tear was the war between the Hyrule people and Ganondorf going to war to reclaim there kingdom once again while using the Tears as the new Tri-Force.
It would be cannon since the Master Sword is placed in the forest. In Link to the Past, you can Retrieve the Sword and find your way to the sword until a certain point and requirements ment. Maybe they took the sword and hit it into the lost woods to keep it out of the hands of Ganondorf.
And there is one more Link. The Original Hero, the one that shown great courage, rallied the people of Hyrule to stand up to the non-Sealed Demise and used the Sword to get everyone to safety and created the Skylot. The one that Sacred his life to save everyone and with the Goddess help to seal away Demise. That day forward the Goddess promise to allow his soul to return when the evil returned and for herself to take human form. It was there the Skyward Sword events would take place.
