- Happy New Year! In vlog time it's still a glorious, wet, English summer. In this vlog: our first engine service, a duckling mini rescue, the thrilling conclusion of the trolley debacle, beautiful countryside, butterflies, and of course lots of day-to-day boaty life. I hope you enjoy this little scrapbook of summer memories, it certainly made me look forward to warmer days while making it!

You seem to be coming along just swell. Hats off for not getting discouraged, you got this. I found it interesting about the tiller handle. How fabulous that Andrew’s mom found the one his family used. Can you please explain about the plaque regarding Andrew’s family on the bridge? Be well and thank you for letting us come along.

There was a plaque on the bridge for years (this is it www.picturesofengland.com/England/Northamptonshire/Braunston/pictures/1195341) which disappeared a few years ago and no one knows what happened to it. We’d like to get it replaced and put back where it belongs!

Another classic vlog, 10/10. The electric fence made me 😂 (sorry) the amount of times they’ve caught me out.
I do wonder just where the rest have gone as they can have up to ten some times. Well that is ducks life .

Thank goodness 😅 the trolley got back to Jay. Love that you were able to get Andrew and the cart reunited in the shop along with its two sibling carts. Kris you are the swan/duck/goose whisperer, not so sure about cows and sheep though think 🧐. But, it was another great rescue…..although maybe not as dramatic as the trolley or Andrew’s rescue of the water cap. You have to admit that was epic! I went back and rewatched the “The Grand Re-Union” video, that was so good. Love that you have a feline escort when you are out for the evening. Another beautifully shot and edited video. Thank you for making a windy, snowy day, a delightful one.

We have the same it is called no cut May. but as it is now June the have cut the paths now, and some of the parks as well.

"Cubby" Broccoli would be proud; opening with a bit of product placement was a genius idea and I am sure the cheque from Harry Stiles will go some way towards re-blacking the boat next year - good call. And what a great idea to launch a Summer video during these glum winter days (my heating is making all the right noises but I occasionally stand in the driveway to warm up!). Moving from product placement some genuine drama with not one but two plot lines. The duckling saga obviously aimed at Millennials while us older coves found solace in the great shopping trolly story - and how historic... forget about Andrew's family heirloom tiller peg, can you imagine Thomas Telford witnessing the opening of his masterpiece Ellesmere canal and, while the great and good stood around applauding in wonderment, someone causally emerged on the towpath and chucked a shopping trolley in............ telephone lines with dangling trainers, canals and shopping trollies, they are natural bedfellows. Anyhoo, the trolley made it home and with the added benefit of a sex change. As it dismounted the boat it was a she and by the time it reached the far side of the car park she became he - very PC. As usual, loved the camera work, editing and music - the bee was lovely and the unhurried way you let the butterfly exit the frame rather than follow its course. I must admit I still spare a thought for working boat owners who live in about a third of the space you occupy but its great they keep those old vessels alive. Until the next time, keep enjoying canal-side pubs, enjoy the onboard navigation banter and enjoy each others company - you are blessed.

You know already that chucking summer stuff out in the middle of winter will make everyone jealous and hate you but you just don't care. I admire you for that. I would have taken the same approach. Am considering going a bit tranny again (used to do it in my relative youth) and am paying attention to you for fashion tips. Don't agree with all your clothing decisions. Am not a mindless fanboy. Haha, I should give it a name, it is after all an essential part of the boat infrastructure 😂 it’s a Shadowhawk LED 30000 lumens rechargeable torch, if you search that it should come up. Can’t vouch for if it’s a Forever Torch yet, but I assumed that I would lose or break it, so I wanted to go for something on the economical side.
Yes why they do that is so bad as if they do it once then they will do it again and again that is a shopping trolleys.

Love your vlogs but what's that about 'back on our steak bullshit'........ F#@K the veggies and vegans it is their loss...... enjoy it, after all, thousands of years ago our ancestors were hunter gatherers and killed to eat and live, and I don't think tender stem broccoli, red peppers and asparagus would have been on the menu!!!. Keep up the good work.💋
😅 can't hate on the veggies, some of my besties are! I do very much enjoy a good steak though. We try to buy good quality meat from a decent source (farms, local butchers) as much as we can. Having said that, those cows given the chance would definitely kill us.
