20 years ago when I was younger I bought a YZ250 smoker. It’s still with me today. It had 2 rebuilds over the years and I still love it. There are only 2 things that scare me in this world. The YZ250 and my wife.
All these new kids need the softness and grunt of a four stroke. Bullshit. Learn to SHIFT and ride. There is truly something magic about going from zero torque, about to stall to gobs of front wheel lifting, back tire smoking power in a tenth of a second. Long live big bore rattle boxes.
Yeah they aren’t slow I used to ride a yz125 their fast as hell when u hit the power band or even skip the clutch when u slip the clutch you would know it’s fully engaging the power band mainly u use it to do a wheelie or to get your speed up when at low rpms

Have a 09 I bought New, it is my Woods machine, added a 9oz flywheel weight and dropped the front sprocket from a 14 to a 13. A beast in the woods. Recently went to a Lectron Carb and Boyesen reeds. Even better!!
I remember years ago i had a 125 road bike and got a 99 rm250 thinking it wouldn't be much different, like you it scared the life out of me haha. Going fast on dirt is a whole different ball game.
Talking about firsts, this week a guy here in the netherlands (only 21 years old) literally just picked up his drivers license and rode home on his bike, just to make a wrong call and crashed in to a tree killing himself. First day of legal riding. Please riders be safe. Riding is something to love but your life is worth more than anything. Nice riding man

It was a 4 stroke….3 years later I got my 1978 Suzuki RM 125…….two stroke!……One day after a couple of beers in the garage…..Dad got on it just to check the new RM out at the behest of my encouragement ….opened it up WFO…….down the street one ☝️ time…..got off it, parked and never ever touch the bike again😆😆😆. And as a matter of fact….I don’t think I ever saw him drink another beer after that…EVER….. FOLKS…THATS HOW FAST THESE BIKES WERE……😆

Recently started riding around with a friend of mine last summer, has a 150 4 stroke and that thing is older too, still pretty damn quick. This thing looks like you're in between being too scared to give it more throttle and being so fucking excited you won't back off the throttle till you have to LOL. Badass.
You nailed it right on the head! This was my first big purchase at 19 years old. You can hear, i couldn't quite contain my sheer excitement!😂 I used to ride my bud's CRF150F and dude that thing was awesome! Just enough power to everything, but not quite enough to hurt ya! That thing was an absolute blast and tough as a tank!
If your engine was cold when you started it, you really need to let the coolant/water warm up well before you take off. What you did is OK with air cooled engines usually, as the cylinder and piston heat up and expand at the same time pretty much. But on a water cooled MX engine, if you don't get the radiators a almost hot, (pretty warm at least), to the touch before you take off, the cylinder stays cold and does not expand, while the piston gets hots and expands faster than the cylinder. If that engine was cold, I bet you scuffed your piston a bit for this vid. But it is also possible to seize the top end too, called a "cold seizure".
