Mercedes Benz 722.6 Transmission Shifter Linkage Bushing Replacement - S, E, C, M, G, CL, ML, CL, SL

- If you own an Mercedes Benz with a 722.6 transmission, chances are your Shifter Linkage Bushing is either bad or will go bad. Not if, but when it goes bad (and it will eventually), as you shift the gear to Park, the car will still freely move and cause harm to live or property. This video shows how to replace it on a 2001 W210 E320 car.

So that other bushing at the transmission end, that you say was in good shape, does that bushing and clip look to be the same type bushing and clip as the green one your using for the shift knob lever?
I have a 2004 W211 and it seems, from vids ive watched, that my bushing is much different and much larger underneath the shift knob lever gear selector box. I did buy the same green bushing that you show and it seems on W211s that it fits on the transmission end of things. Im hopeing thats correct. Thanx for the info and the nicely done vid 👍
John, you can also raise front of the car and have a look first. Both are visible with good light.

So i presume this is the bushing that goes on the tramsmission level arm and not the other similar bushing at the opposite end of the shift rod that goes onto the bottom lever of the shift knob selector module thats inside the car? Is that right?
Because that second bushing should also be done to reduce gear shift play/slop on these aged cars.
This is the one in the bottom of the shifter. You're right. Another goes at the other end to the transmission. That one was incidentally still in good shape on this car obviating the need for replacement.

Hi John, on the W210 in the video, they are the same. If you need the exact part number for your car, you can call an MB dealership or get a copy of the EPC software on eBay. Regards.

Hey Roger, it sounds like perhaps the shifter mechanism is disconnected from the transmission. It connects at 2 points underneath, get under the car and examine them.
