    OK guys, after doing some research it looks like this rod was a limited run from Kuying. So it doesnt appear to be available anymore :( But... if enough of you email them and show theres demand for it im sure they can be persuaded to make more. If they do Im definitely buying a couple more!

    Actually very interesting. When it seems like everyone else out there is going bigger and bigger your going the opposite direction and trying to fish for pan fish with a bait casting set up. I really like your reel reviews and shoot outs and so I watch all your vids now. Keep up the great work.

    The lightest, most sensitive ultralight rods are Aijing or Mebaru rods from Tict, Olympic and Yamaga Blanks.....Most BFS rods are heavy in comparison.

    I've used those tiny 1/64 trout magnet jigs for trout and I was able to cast quite a distance with them, long enough for me to reach the stock trout in a pond. However, I also used them in conjunction with a float that probably added a couple more grams of weight into the setup. Sometimes that is all the trout wanted and I slayed trout with that setup!

    Hi, Thomas here from the Netherlands.
    First of all, thank you for thorough research on the bfs subject. The time and resources you have spent are impressive. Nice objective videos accompanied by a calm and soothing voice have kept me quite entertained during my vacation. After seeing most of the 'ultimate series' I realised you opened the door for something I ran into about 25 years ago; How to cast something really light for a good distance. Back than, at the age of 12/14, I simply gave up and moved on. My dream was to cast only a maggot on a hook for about 30 foot. Unrealistic of course but I was young...
    After recemtly purchasing a cheap okuma reel and and a cheap broomstick like (25-50gr. rated) rod for a fishingtrip with my flyfishing buddy and our sons, I hated the lack of sensitivity and dove into the rabbitshole of baitcasting. Here we are, 4 months later, I now own 4 new rods and 3 new reels: Ultimate clever jerkrod 190cm 25-50gr., Tsurinoya Elite 3 4-16gr. and the Kuying ttc602ul and ttc510s. For the reels: Okuma tormenta, Tsurinoya Darkwolf and the Daiwa 20 Alphas air tw. Yes, a lot of money was spent, it gives me a nice range of possibilties to cast whatever I want. Anyway, your channel (and bcsg's) has been very helpfull to getting a shortcut to the best stuff available and killing my time during the holidays ! I agreed with myself to be satisfied with the combo's I have and stop watching your videos to avoid total bankruptcy.
    One thing I would like to criticisize is the amount of commercials, it is a bit much.
    Anyway, thanks for your work, you helped me a good bit !!

      Ps. In the world of flyfishing you can find tiny clips for quick excange of flies without adding much weight. These could work well with troutmagnets 😉

  • @dougreid1951
    @dougreid1951 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is fascinating - last weekend I was out chasing rainbows with really small spinner type lures - and having watched this video I decided to weigh the lures - between 0.054 and 0.075 grams - and for comparison some of the small streamers - 0.010 grams!
    These are cast on a fly-line but devastating for trout.
    The classic way to get really lightweight stuff out on spinning or casting gear is with a "bubble float" - a small plastic sphere half filled with water.

  • @Stefano--
    @Stefano-- 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The S in the rod's abbreviation I think stand for Solid tip.
    It is common in "area trout" rods, it's very flexible and usually made to create sticks that can throw light lures but with a stronger backbone. I've got a Varivas ARD-510S-TTS that is scary thin.

    • @tbhotia1
      @tbhotia1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. It's so thin if you don't loosen your drag before you dismantle the two piece, you will splinter the tip since it's solid. Beautiful rod and beautiful of power for the job.

    OK... I got the Teton TTC632 UL rod and it's a beauty! What were the two small (about 3/4" x 4") neoprene straps with a slit near one end and velcro closures? The assumption is they're for securing the two rod halves, but that wouldn't explain the slits....

  • @2musiclover534
    @2musiclover534 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Subscribed. With my spinning setup including 2 lbs fluoro, I can get the TM about 50 feet. Wating to see how many percent of that distance a maxed out BFS can cast. My thought is that your rod is not the limitation but your reels. I take all rod ratings with a large grain of salt - meaning all UL rods can cast TM just fine even if they are not rated that low. The key is how fast I swing the rod - all UL rods will load up if you cast it quickly enough even without any lure on it. The mass of the rod itself (blank, guide, thrad, finish) is enough to loard any UL rod I have ever tried. It's a matter of physics. You have an excellent channel.

    • @THEREELTEST
      @THEREELTEST  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for giving me a target of 50 feet! Nice to know what an ultralight spinning outfit can do with the trout magnet. Yes I have a hunch the Revo Ltx is going to struggle but you never know until you find out. I do have an ultralight spool for my Aldebaran waiting in the wings that Im going to be using after the Revo to see if theres a difference.

    My KTF wiffle spooled Daiwa Presso, tdz line guide, ZPI hybrids, lighter inductor cup spring to get the cup in the mags quicker and hold it there slightly longer (important when casting extremely light lures) with a custom made cup that's thinner and shorter so once it pulls back the mags have less grab on it.
    This reel on a custom made rod with 2lb mono will cast 2x #5 split shot (0.15g each so 0.3 gram total) as well as any ultra light spinner reel, realisticly I can cast those two split shit about 45 to 50 feet and that's on a 6 foot rod, if that rod was 6'6 it would cast that same weight around 20 foot further.
    Now this is a highly specialized reel with some very custom parts that are one offs (the inductor cup) but im pretty sure it owns the lowest lure weight possible record

  • @sgtpavlov

    Rod looks good. If I can cast those same trout magnets with an xf50 + 4'6" micro series, I think you should be able to do it with the BF8 and that kuyung Teton. Now I am not getting these to cast really far or anything, and it can be a bit of a challenge, compensating by changing how you release during casting. That said, I have still been able to catch fish with the short distance I can cast them. I'd probably get a little more distance with a longer rod, or a rod that has a better noodle whip bend. I'm thinking, I oughta try trout magnets with the Revo BF7. Haven't done it yet, but I have thrown 1/32 oz jig + curl tail, and some light spoons on it.

  • @ddm62571
    @ddm62571 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have a rooster tail 1/16oz and 1/24oz lures I like to use. They work great! Rods I use medium light Zodias. I like med light over just light because there's some pretty hefty trout where I fish.

    I cannot find this rod on Aliexpress. Just got to use my Proflex 2 today and I am hooked on BFS. I think my next step will be a Major Craft Corzza if they ever come in stock again... Would also like the Teton 6'6" Light, but they are more of a moderate/moderate fast compared to the Proflex. I think the Major Craft rods are even faster, right???

    • @logicalrationalfishing7481
      @logicalrationalfishing7481 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Free Hooksets See I didn't realize the Major Craft rods had that solid tip. So far I really like my Proflex 2, but DAMN that tip section scares me. They make a higher end Agile and Elite 2, but they are over $100. I only paid like $70 for mine, just hope I don't ruin it by breaking that tip. It has to be thinner than a pencil lead, for real. So far I can cast 1/8 FAR and 1/16 pretty good, with 8lb braid on a DIY Honeycomb spool for Zillion SV TW.

      i think they sold out, im sure they will be available sometime soon again. Ive got several MC bfs rods and the moderate fasts are closer to fast IMO

      Daniel Dean I have the Proflex 2 and the Dexterity in 6’3” UL and the Kuying Tetons 6’6” L, 6’3” UL 5’2” SUL and 2 Major Crafts Benkei Rods 6,7”L, 6’5”UL. Like you know the Proflex is an extra fast very light tip, the Dexterity is a moderate fast ultralight rod that cast great down to 1.6 grams with ease, the Tetons are great rods and are my favorites the L is moderate fast the ul is a fast tip and the SUL is model almost noodle rod but with a little more backbone than most noodle rods. The MC Benkei’s are fast tip bass rods with loads of backbone and I feel they are more Light and Medium Light than UL and L

      THE REEL TEST I think you can do it. I have 3 Kuying Teton rods, TTC662L, TTC632UL, TTC522SUL and they are worth every penny. I have my Daiwa SS Air on the SUL rod (rated .8g -3g) and I have casted a 1.5g jig with good results. But usually stay with 2g and above with my Bfs setups.

      THE REEL TEST your right accuracy is what’s most important and that’s all about the rod power and action syncing up with the lure weight. Cast distance is only affected a little. Spinning or carrying, you are only going to cast something that light but so far.

      @vire559 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to pay attention to line diameter and the amount of line you put on the spool.

    • @natetrout1
      @natetrout1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My point is buying specialized bfs gear like a wanna be Japanese angler is some scenester shit and is totally unnecessary. Thats why you cast the line, it allows you to make the lightest presentations. That’s my point.

    • @natetrout1
      @natetrout1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point of bfs is to make presentations with light lures, not say, “look at my SV spool, bet your spool can’t do that.” Are you a child?
