I’ve been on compounded semaglutide for close to 6 months and am about to hit my max dose. I’ve lost 17% of my staring weight currently, and hope to get a bit more weight loss (5-10 lbs) before tapering off to maintenance and hoping to minimize regain.
I started Ozempic in June 2022. Went from a high weight of 204 to a low weight of 157. Just came back from vacationa week ago where I gained 5 pounds due to dietary changes. I have lost 2 of the 5 I gained. My goal weight is 145 so dietary intake is most important. My A1C is normal now and my dr said to stop the Metformin. I also stopped the Omeprazole and no longer experience symptoms of GERD. My blood pressure is in the 120/65 range after I stopped the BP medications. It is a win, win for me. I just have to not eat sugar, white food such as rice, flower etc. to move foreward.
what about cycling on and off. That is once your body had reached tolerance and appears to lose effectiveness stopping for a period and re-starting with hopes that our body has recalibrated and weight loss will once again occur just as in the first weeks of the drugs use. I have not seen anything official which advocates this as a potential option. What are your thoughts Dr. Yeung?
I'm a little late to reply but yes, anecdotally, this works. I have taken breaks and been able to reduce my dosage. I'm down 100lbs and currently only take 0.5 maybe monthly. I actually think sarcopenia plays a role in weight regain and the cycling that I am doing means that I eat more some weeks and less others which could be protective of lean tissue and therefore retention of higher BMR.
So I have been on Manjuro since last October 2022! I have lost 118 pounds! I still weigh 318! I have a long way to go! My doctor is switching me to Oz! I believe the medicine has worked well for me but I began to workout 5 days a week and went to a low carb diet! I think that modification of life style has done a lot of the work also for me in this journey! I do wonder how Oz will work for me at 2 mg dose! I am determined to get this weight off keep it off period!
Disappointing information but necessary. It's important for the consumer to know how long these drugs work. I see these drugs as a way to get control as you put in place numerous behavioral changes around food and movement. Hopefully many will be able to do this as the effectiveness of the drugs wear off. I am also encouraged about the pharm. industry's continued development of weight loss drugs along with preventing obesity in the first place.
You have to cycle peptides. Humans build antibodies. Stay on 4-5 months, take a month to 6 weeks off, rinse, repeat. Takes Tirzpeatide 30 days to completely clear the system. You can also try Tesofensine during the time off to keep weight gain to minimum.
@@angelocarrion3399 I do. Also some people need to take 2-3 months off to get back completely sensitive to the appetite suppression effects that Tirz offers.
Great video. One of the few that addresses the long term effectiveness of these GLP-1 agonists. Basically the body adapts with time and probably the drug cannot be used again until much later e.g. 12-18 months later. However these are still wonderful drugs for tackling obesity. I have been fighting obesity all my life and these drugs represent tremendous progress.
At time 2:13, the last data point (104*) should not be included in the trend line (The 104* is the weight when people dropped out of the study). I would say that their weight plateaued (flattened out) at week 68.
It's amazing how I can find so many videos on how Ozempic works for weight loss but not on how they work for Diabetes. My doctor wants to switch me to Ozempic for Diabetes. Where is that data/information?
Make the switch. Both Ozempic and Mounjaro can be prescribed for Type 2 diabetes and are usually covered by insurance. They will definitely lower your A1c.
There should be some videos on you tube. I remember a pharmacist did a video on how ozempic works for diabetes. Basically it stimulates your pancreas beta cells to release more of your own natural insulin when you need it to bring sugar down. At the same time it stimulates the pancreas A cell to produce less glucagon so that liver produces less glucose.
Do you have any thoughts on if you too a break for a few months and then came back to it? I do that with caffeine and it is more effective again after months of giving it up. However, with alcohol for example, the tolerance seems to be the same no matter how long you have not drank
I only lost 9 kg (ca 20 pounds) from November until august. I have struggled since June feeling the effect stopped. Now I've regained 2 kg. I think the body is too effective working against change. I started last week lowering the dose, so think I'll be off a few weeks and then start again, like others are saying, cycles of it. At least my knees are better since they have less weight to carry 😊
It would be interesting to see if you could do a three step therapy from Ozempic to mounjaro to retatrutide ... To prolong the effects of maintaining A1c and maximizing the weight loss benefits. if you switch from ozempic to mounjaro after a year, you will continue to loose weight before you re-gain, and if mpounjaro has the same plateau, a 3 receptor agonist might help further reduce weight loss, creating a regimen for people to loose weight without surgery which is incredible.
As someone who has lost weight in such numbers over the years, I can confirm that it is much easier to keep weight off than it is to lose it. And BTW it pronounced Wa•gō•vee
I’m so glad I found your video as I recently have felt I’ve stopped loosing weight and began gaining. I’m wondering if I need to re-asses my food intake.
Okey listen now, if you start eating more fast you gain weight, after losing alot of fat you most increase you're metabolism again, so when you start with wegovy or semaglutide overall do high protein diet, workout hard build msucle and slowly lose fat. Simple as that, it helps you not crave shit food and sugars, and helps you drink alot of water all of this helps to build muscle and lose fat, aim to get stronger and try to get 30-45min cardio 5x weekly
I have been injected with Ozempic for just about two years. When I had worked up to 2 MG I lost 50 lbs. Then around Thanksgiving 2023, it has seemed to not work as well. I began to CRAVE sugar and calories insanely badly. If I waited too long to eat, I ended up having a hyperglycemic attack. ( I have Type 2 Diabetes and am 67 years old.) This time of year means more sugar can be around. I also have Celiac Disease and other disorders. Is it possible to step up to a higher dose of Ozempic? I also take oral Januvia as well. When the Ozempic is working well, I have no desire to eat so many carbs and can shop without being tempted by things, I have even had to throw food away many times because I ended up not being able to eat it. I am going to start seeing a different Diabetic Specialist and an Endocrine specialist as well.
I had to stop wegovy because I couldn't even get water down, and kept ended up in the hospital attached to IV fluids. OMG... I forgot how much hunger and food noise sucks! I find myself scrolling grocery store apps like it's food p0rn. I'm struggling really hard to maintain my weight, but I'm making it work.
Update! I went on to lose an additional 40lbs without wegovy (but with assistance of oral topamax) and now having a hard time eating enough.... all aboard the struggle bus 😄
Mounjaro is a GLP-1 and GIP med. While it is more powerful than Wegovy, I'm sure it has the same weight-loss profile as Wegovy. Some encouraging news for those struggling with obesity -- the drug companies are coming up with even more powerful drugs by including more activator hormones.
Yes, true enough, if your initial weight isn't too high. Those who are morbidly obese, however, will probably need to take the drugs for 3 or 4 years to achieve a healthy weight.
I started keto 4.5 years ago. Lost 85 1lbs. Reversed diabetes and high blood pressure. But wanted to heal more, so I transitioned to carnivore. Weightloss at 115 lbs and feeling better than ever. Doctors can keep their medications. ❤
A lot of people just take the drug and do nothing to change diet, go figure. I startet wegovy myself but 2 weeks before I stopped my bad habits af drinking soda and eating cake and candy. You have to change to get lasting results.

@@lyndseebanks4494 yes 23 years ago! I weighed 600 pounds and got down to 309! So it’s been a battle all my life
What dose was most effective for appetite suppression and what you ate
It’ll eliminate all food noise at that dose
I hope it does not lose the effectiveness for glucose control. I'm a diabetic and doing very well.I went from a 8 A1C to 6.8 and still improving.

Doesn’t tesofensine have mental side effects
i would def agree. i'm using saxenda and have cycled on and off for awhile, that is the only way it's worked consistently for me.
After a month of cycling off, do you start back on the lowest dose again?

this explains why my a 1 c was also going from 5.7 to 6.0 after a year
In my case it took only one week to stop working. Last week I started my treatment and wasn't hungry. This week I'm already hungry

@@LilithCain yeah eating chicken breast turkey the way to go could never over eat that
Why is there regain? Did their diet change?
You haven't stated whether people put on this weight due to food changes or was this natural?
Mounjaro does not see an uptick after 72 months, still going down significantly.
does this apply to all GLP-1 meds? how about munjourno and saxenda?

A year should be enough to lose weight and learn how you eat properly . With exercise and eating right, you should not rely on drugs.
Some people do watch their diet and exercise but still struggle
Yes, true enough, if your initial weight isn't too high. Those who are morbidly obese, however, will probably need to take the drugs for 3 or 4 years to achieve a healthy weight.
A lot of people do eat properly and do exercise. Weight still is a stubborn issue. It's so easy to just assume bad behavior. It's not always the case.

After a year you should have a good diet and exercise worked out, and build muscle to your frame. You should be putting on weight but losing the fat.
Interesting 🤔
If when you start the drug, you decide to change your diet and eating habits over the one year time ,you don't have to regain the weight.!!!!!!
This video doesn't answer the question of why it stops working!!!! Weird when it's the actual title of the video!
