  • IK Multimedia have announced iRig HD 2 - the sequel to their iRig HD digital guitar interface for iPhone, iPad, Mac & PC. It features a 24 bit/96kHz conversion and is iPhone 7 ready. Check out the first review of iRig HD 2 from Eli Krantzberg. Eli shows what you get in the box, explains what all the I/O does before he puts it to work on his system using the IK Multimedia Amplitube 4 plugin. He also shows how to use the iRig HD2 with an iPad, guitar amp and into his DAW by micing the guitar cab.

    easily the best overview of this product. I wanted ten or so videos even the manufacturer and this explain all I needed to know. I was going to buy an inexpensive audio interface but Ill just get this now for practicing with headphones on anywhere in the house or recording on the mac. Awesome video

    Did you install any drivers when connecting to the Mac? And does it work with the output device being the iRig (so that i can plug me headphones in and listen) And does it work with Reaper?

    Hi! I have a question about 1/8" out (headphone). Is it possible use this without cutting 1/4" out (amp)? I think that I can use this 1/8" at same time with 1/4"...
    By the way, great review!

  • @tadmorguy

    Did you try using Guitar midi (Jam origin) with the iRig, so the guitar input will send midi to a virtual instrument within the iPad/iPhone (i.e. Sampletank etc...)? I thinking of doing this...

    Two questions
    first, should I still run my guitar into a DI Box then into Irig hd2 then out into my PC?
    Second, is this compatible with Reaper daw?

    I already run Amplitube 4. I have a setup for live band setting which gives me enough output but the old Line 6 interface no longer gets along with Windows 10. In your opinion, does this interface pack enough output to be used in live performance?

    I have a question. I have iRig HD, using 1/8 cable connect to 1/4 input of a guitar amp. It sounds fine.
    With this new feature in iRig HD2 with the Amp Out option, will there any difference?
    From the specs, sound wise it sounds the same.
    But I just want to know if direct out from ipad jack to amp VS amp out irig hd2 to guitar amp have a difference.
    Thanks!

      cleyc so what are your comments on your new iRig hd 2 :) ? I already bought mine day b4 yesterday n it's on its way to me now :) im a new electric guitarist so I'm excited all this is digital now coz all those pedals cost so much n i didn't n still don't know squat about them. Anxiously waiting to learn with my iRig :) johny

    • @cleyc
      @cleyc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      johnybrokeit well after a week of try to register and trying every single pedal (only the free with the Irig 2) i discovered that want for me. I returned.
      Reason Is because I have to buy the pedals that fit my needs and those pedals can be quite expensive in the App Store, but nobody tell you anything. Unless you have the money and do this for a living you’ll invest in this devise. Unfortunately I return mine couldn’t afford it. I’m using the bose gt 1. And I think first stage from my mac for recording witch comes with decent pedals and cabinets.

      johnybrokeit question , i assume you got your irig , how does it feel ? Is it good quality , i had problems with the latency , so i have to buy an interface , do you recommend for the money ?

    • @johnybrokeit
      @johnybrokeit 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dandy aka the amateurs hi! Mannnn, I love this device. I took it to my cousin who is actually a well known guitarist in this city. And he was quite impressed with the sound of the iRig. He taught me some basics about FX pedals and the chain/order to follow usually, and stuff. Altogether I think he was pleased with it. He was already using AmpliTube (which comes free with iRig HD 2) so he showed me how to use it quickly. He has a Line 6 guitar, and also the guitar rig I think? It's this cable with a sound card built in to it.
      Anyways, I do not honestly think I have any credibility yet to "recommend" a device of this nature to anyone coz I'm new to this field, but i personally am very very happy with it coz it's tiny, it's on my iPhone, and it goes only to my earphones so I can blast away at night in my room. No worries!
      My cuz did recommend a real pedal to me to go with the device. Anyways ya. Johny

    Hi thanks for the video.. you guys rock...since the world is in the timeout corner right now, I'm a pro bassist and have a 9 piece band however we do a lot of duo stuff now live on the internet for private companies we've done several shows online using our ipad going into the mixer then out to speakers then we connect our phone or ipad via facebook live or zoom to send the live feed to... I just bought the I rig hd 2 yesterday and we were told it is great for coming out of the mixer into the I rig then out to live feed.... problem is the irig only has a mono input for bass or guitar... and we are sending out a stereo feed, how will this device help us or is there a way to connect it in stereo...? alittle confused... any help would be great... thanks for your time... nice studio by the way

    Unfortunately - partly as result of this promotional clip I purchased the iRig HD 2.
    So far it has been a total waste of money.
    It can't be registered, so can not access Amplitube 4; when plugging the iRig into the iMac (via USB) and into the guitar amp, it produces an earth loop which makes the guitar amp unusable in any sense - especially not to record from.
    Dealing with IK Multimedia support is like trying to communicate with an iceberg - a cold, distant exercise in total futility!
    So what was the point of this clip again? To tell us how remarkable this unit is? Forget it - it's garbage.
