Thanks I just got one of these today and haven't had a chance to plug it in to anything. I have an older iRig but it's been years since I used it. This one has three programs I'll use - I don't stream so the loopback won't do me any good. That's OK though, since I don't need it to get complex! Thanks for the video. Your English comes through just fine with your accent :) Closed captions not so much...
Around 7:40 you keep using the term "DI" to differentiate between the processed sound and the unprocessed sound. The interface you are referring to is unbalanced audio out suitable for plugging into an amplifier or is suitable for a DI box to plug into the stage mixer. A question I have not heard answered yet is where is the guitar sound processed? Is all the processing done on the Macbook, iPHone or iPad or is a software module downloaded to the iRIG HD X where it is processed there (like Universal Audio Solo). This would make a huge difference to latency. Thank you.
The processed sound is on PC/mac cause is your plugin you decide to use and you can send the sound through the jack output or use it to send only DI, up to you. Fabio
Thank you for the video, I obviously subscribed! I'm considering buying the iRig HD X but I'm still confused. Hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions. Does the loopback also work on the iPad? What if I wanted to record not only the guitar but also a mic on iPad?
Thank you! Actually never tried on iPad, but it is intended to work for iPad primarly and then on PC/Mac.. So should work. Don't think is possible to use also a microphone together cause you then need to plug the mic but already have the audio interface into the usb-c/lightning plug
Great video. How should I connect it to a PC? Do I need the PC to have a USB C input? Or should I get another cable that is USB C to USB to connect it to the PC? Thank you
I do not have a Mac, Nor i-pad. But have very good Windows system. Can I use irig HD X? Secondly, if I have a DAW and a good audio interface like Focusrite 2i2 that serves the purpose of a live broadcast, how is the irig HDX different than this? What's the point of investing in it then?
Great video. I’ve just bought it but it doesn’t work: Amplitude 5 on PC/iPad/iPhone just doesn’t connect to it, no matter what… I only had the clean guitar sound from the headphone jack and no sound processing is applied at all!!!! I’ve opened a ticket to IK Muktimedia but had no response in 3 days 😢 … any hints how to make it work??? Unplugged and re-plugged many times without success…. I’m considering returning the item to Amazon…. Thanks for any help
Are you sure you are checked the in/out on amplitube correctly? Checked also to listen the processed sound from headphones and not the DI only moving the main knob to the correct position? Fabio
@@higherhz I did many tests, without success. But the funny thing is that, after doing firmware update, I repeated all the tests yesterday and then the system started to work. To be honest, I have the feeling that the device is not fully reliable, because when I change settings and go back to using, for example the ASIO drivers after testing Windows Direct, many times the system is not working anymore, or even after changing gear, e.g., different amp model than default Brit8000. With Windows Direct connection I had the processed sound playing from the speakers connected to the normal PC audio card, which is one of the main reasons why I purchased this iRig HD X model as an improvement to the Stealth Plug cable. However, I can hear quite some latency that is not making me happy at all 🫤🫤🙄🙄 Anyway, I guess the firmware update helped make it work, but I see that it easily fails to work so that I have to unplug/replug it to the PC (or even to the iPhone) to have it working again 😱🙄 sounds pretty weird, doesn’t it?…. I will do some further tests and let you know, thanks for your help 👍👍
@@nomegusta8554it is now working fine 😮 I must think that the firmware update was the key to make it work on all platforms (PC, iPhone and iPad). I still believe that switching the drivers on Amplitube 5 on PC is a little glitchy 😢 but as of now at least I can use it with the ASIO drivers hearing the sound in the headphones.
Thanks for doing things in real time, more clear this way, bread vid. But I have a question. I’ve seen other videos that show streaming/recording using iPad camera app, why not show that. More importantly, can/how to use streaming with a backing track.
Thanks. To use backing track in streaming you can place into your DAW 2 tracks, one the backing and the second one the guitar, the overall output will be the 1/2 out of the iRig which will have all the audio coming to the streaming platform. Fabio
Beginner here. I am still unsure about the amp output. How to play the processed sound on the real amp? It seems really muddy. Do you have to set the amp setting to a neutral clean setting? I have an Katana MK II 50.
If you use processed sound to a real amp like Katana, you should bypass the cabinet in the processed signal, or I think in the Katana you can manage the response of the speaker (I’m guessing) cause in that case you have in serial 2 speakers. So better to go with processed signal to an FRFR cabinet
I you want to use your hardware multi fx unit and go to the interface it can be used like a normal audio inerface, you can record your input normally, instead to have a D.I. signal you will have your processed signal. But the point of this unit is to stream using the effects INSIDE your PC, so a plugin. If you don't need the Streaming feature go with little sister iRig USB.
I have this thing and honestly it's TERRIBLE. It doesn't work with any other software besides Tonex. The tuner isn't accurate, and all I get is feedback when I try to use it with Mixcraft.
Excellent breakdown 👏👍✌️
Thank you. I bought one today but didn’t get a chance to try it. Very detailed video. I thank you.❤
You're welcome :) Hope the video will help you for any trouble.

Good job. The HDX makes more sense to me now. Thanks.

Saludos Fabio hablas español?, compré hace dos días uno de estos y no me ha funcionado, no es tan sencillo como parece
It is plug and play, simpler thn this...if you have any specific trouble please refer to the manual or contact the IK Multimedia support.

What happens if you put a fuzz pedal into the DI input, give me 5 minutes im about to find out...
You can do that using the Fuzz in front of the amp from Tonex if you want :) up to you.

No listenable latency.

Check the input and output on whatever software you use. It works as a normal audio interface with any software.

This is a channel where you can find professional reviews. But probably this is not the channel for you.

Can be used with Android is a lie. Amplitube and tonex are amp sims, just take your money and throw it in the garbage, save yourself the frustration
is written on the box and it's advertised like this, I've not android to check.
