Scouser here, thank you so much for such an enthusiastic, glowing review of our wonderful city and it's people. Makes a change from the usual grief we get from some Brits, lots of whom have never even been. Nice one big fella!

As someone who moved to Liverpool from the south about 15 years ago, I couldnt agree more with your lovely review. You are right about the sense of humour - Liverpudlians are quick-witted and creative. It's one of my favourite things (my wife is a Scouser). Even when they're seemingly insulting you, it's usually meant in an endearing way. I swear this city is one of the most unique places in the UK. By far the friendliest and passionate city in the country. You can have a chat with strangers in the street without them thinking it's weird. You can't do that in London. I will never ever live down south again. If you're ever thinking of moving here, or just visting, please do it. The people will be so welcoming. Thanks you Liverpool for restoring my faith in humanity ❤
Cardiff is probably the friendliest city in the U.K.. Bristol not bad too Scousers have a bit of a chip on their shoulder, can come across as aggressive even if they don’t mean to

If you haven't been it's a must on the Cities to visit in the UK, along with Brighton of course....
I second this, in reverse kinda. I'm a scouser who has lived just outside Brighton for years now. For me, After Liverpool, Brighton has to be the 2nd best city in the country. Very similar vibe to Liverpool, laid back, chilled and accepting. Might surprise some scousers to know that Brighton's politics are closer to Liverpool's than they are to Kent's.
@@eightiesmusic1984 Liverpool has had issues with homophobia throughout the years as has everywhere else in the country, but it's definitely shifted in the right direction over the past decade, we have a pride weekend here now, and plenty of gay bars and clubs. Eurovision is a very camp event, and everyone is out celebrating regardless of their sexual orientation, because things like that don't matter anymore. Not that they ever should have to begin with. I'd also like to point out hat some of the biggest queer stars of the 80's were from Liverpool. with groups like Soft Cell, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Dead or Alive
Was recently over in England and the vast majority of our tour group (30+ Australians) thought Liverpool was the best place we went to, and that included London. Mathew St on a Saturday night is absolutely insane, especially when the weather is warm. People are fantastic, there’s a lot going on in that area, plenty of live music. Albert Dock is also very nice and spent some time at Crosby Beach which is lovely again in warm weather, and of course visiting Anfield as a Liverpool supporter. Great city!
About 30 years ago the actor from Neighbours whom played Paul whom ran Lassiters was working in the local summer entertainment city of Bournemouth but his favourite place was the Working Mens Club in a small village 13 miles away called Milford on Sea . Whatever his public persona was he won respect from down to earth regular English folk as he felt comfortable just getting pissed & being shown the local sights by Dave with his VW Camper. Just had to share this .
I'm from 'down south' (Somerset UK) and have visited Liverpool a few times. Didn't know what to expect the first time, some years ago, and was blown away by the beauty of the architecture, the multitude of wonderful things to see/do, and above all the true warmth and friendliness of the people. I absolutely loved it. I went to all the museums (inc 'the Liverpool museum' AND the 'Museum of Liverpool', the more modern one you showed - both worth a visit, as is the fabulous Walker art one). It was great to see the places I saw/tours I did on your video. There's never a dull moment, i agreed with everything you said and I can heartily recommend the city and the people. Loved it!
Great video! As a scouser myself, I would always recommend a trip to Lark Lane. A cool Bohemian neighbourhood located in South Liverpool opposite Sefton Park full of quirky bars, shops and restaurants. Definitely worth a visit for tourists wanting to explore outside of the city centre.
Oh yum. Love Lark Lane. I was thinking of heading out tonight for food but with the Eurovision town is going to be mental tonight. Guess I'm off to Lark Lane tonight. Thanks.
Moved here in '88 and somehow never left. I had travelled up from London and the second i got off the coach with my suitcase a Scouser said, "all right queen?" It's not just a city it's a spiritual home. ❤
What an absolutely brilliant introduction to the city of Liverpool. It makes such a refreshing change to hear the positives rather than people going on about the negatives. I love the city for its great people and things to do ❤
Crosby Beach is worth seeing there. There are 100 Antony Gormley cast iron sculptures on the beach that get covered by the tide. A beautiful any unusual piece of art. And yes Liverpool is a wonderful city.
@@TheSm1thers I will visit there next time I’m in that area. I think Another Way is worth visiting as it is a very unusual art work and it’s another thing in the area that is free for visitors. Liverpool and the surrounding area is excellent for seeing interesting sights without having to spend a lot of money.
Native scouser and this video is, as we would say, boss! The council should post your video for tourists. You've nailed everything. Glad you love our city!!
As a Brummie i spent a few days in Liverpool with my wife and we absolutely loved the place. We went into the Cavern at 2 one afternoon and staggered out at 11.30 after watching a whole day of different bands and solo artists - all of them top drawer. Had a good look at the city and the old docks too which was also wonderful. It is our favourite city in the UK (after Brum of course lol)
I am a private hire taxi driver in Liverpool. When the people hear my accent, they always ask where am I from. When I say I came from Hungary, the typical jokes what they say:"I am starving". 😅 One time when I answered "I am from Hungary".he said, "Me too". Of course he wasn't. When we finished the fare, the price was around 5.60 pounds, he gave me a twenty. I started to calculate the change, but he said to keep it. I said is more than triple! What did he say? "But you are hungry!" It was a big laugh. What a guy?! So yes, the people are really friendly and chatfull here and I didn't regret to move here from London 8 years ago.
Scouser here, again thank you for showing what makes Liverpool the best city in England. The media constantly plays us down I think it’s because we offer the best of everything. Most welcoming city you will find. I live in Spain now and the thing I miss most is hospitality of people. Great video
Remember you can go to the Isle of Man on a fast ferry from the Pier Head. I spent the first 33 years in Liverpool. I live in Cheshire now, my young son and I came into Lime St by train and needed to get to the Travel Inn across town. This big Mercedes pulled up and the window went down "where ya goin mate? I told him, "ger in, I am goin that way". He took us and wouldn't take a penny. It's that generosity I miss, it's the people. Thank you for this great review.
I can recommend the Williamson Tunnels as something completely off the beaten track. A crazy network of underground tunnels dug out under the city. A great example of a local eccentric character!
Ooh, it's one i never made it to when i lived here (left in 2006 for the USA). I'm headed back to the UK this summer and with family and friends all over might not make it to Liverpool, but if we do, I'd love to check it out if i can persuade my wife and 5 & 8yo boys it'll be alright down there.
What a video! Just seen it advertised and honestly thought it was going to give us scousers a bad name! You are an absolute legend, Everything you said is spot on, we love welcoming tourists, our City is your City. Come and have fun, there is more to the UK than London!!!
A fantastic review.. I've lived in Liverpool for 10 years and couldn't ever imagine leaving the place. Some of the people I've met here have been the kindest, supportive and funniest people I have ever known. I just wish I'd moved here sooner. As someone else said, Crosby Beach and the Iron Men should be on your bucket list if you ever return, but I much prefer it in winter when its totally deserted!! Really atmospheric!!
As a scouser I really enjoyed your review of my city and the enthusiasm. I’m biased but their is no city that welcomes outsiders like us. I love visiting Glasgow which has a similar feel and find the Glaswegians are a welcoming city, but the football rivalry side of Glasgow is a lot different to the red and blue in Liverpool!!.,
A little experiment I did this week, I was parked in a car in a major car park in the next big city to Liverpool, a city that will remain nameless, but, ahem ! You know who I mean. So I sat with the hood up, and had the jump leads hanging out the front for half an hour, the battery was flat, but I had a new one in the boot that I jumped started the car with. The people I was with had a one last errand to run, so I waited with my six-year-old nephew, and not once did a person ask if we needed help ? It annoyed me that much, I showed my brother the next day that Liverpool people wouldn't ignore someone in trouble, so I did the same thing, I sat in a Liverpool car park to see what the results would be, and do you know what happened ?, I got fed up with a ton of people asking me if I needed help, hahaha, It's the things like this that make me love my city.
In my extensive experience in dealing with foreign visitors to Liverpool there is no descending narrative about Liverpool other than they enjoy their visit also when people from Britain ( especially from down south) they cannot believe how beautiful the city and friendliness of the local is and nothing like they expected Anyone with preconceived ideas about Liverpool should visit you will be pleasantly surprised.
Spot on mate! I’ve always said the people who till play up to negative stereotypes of Liverpool (which are about 40 years old now move on!) are a always the ones who’ve never set foot in the city.
A work colleague visited after years of nagging from his wife & he was blown away by the friendliness of the locals, the architecture & how great their holiday had been. He cant wait to go back!
I was also thrilled to find out that a younger work colleague & all his friends go to LIverpool regularly for the ultimate weekend away clubbing. (Im a Somerset dwelling scouser). They were dying for the end of lockdown so they could come back up to Liverpool for a weekend away from Somerset!
As a real scouser I really enjoyed such a positive review of Liverpool! I have lived in both London and Indiana USA and Liverpool is the Best city I have been and it always brings me back!
My first Liverpool memory was on the plane going there, after some conversation the man beside me said "in Liverpool, people are gonna talk to you" and I was like...."ok". Then there, I step in to the first pub and I observed that 2 gentlemen obviously not knowing each other (since they where sitting at different ends of the bar counter) starting talking, then the bar woman came towards me and asked in the Scouse accent "what can I get you love?"
@Free To Air if you ask somebody the time in London, they look at you as if you've got 3 heads, either that or move away hastily, thinking you're gonna nick their watch. We're a different breed up here 😊
Great review man, I wish I had such an occasion to travel to Liverpool for the first time in my life somewhere in the future. Greetings from Gdańsk, Poland.
Speke Hall, close to Liverpool Airport in the south of the city, is a great example of a Tudor period mansion and well worth visiting if you like history.
You're right about scousers being the latinos of England. I was born and brought up in Liverpool (Dalrymple St, just off Scottie Rd if you're interested) and the only places I've found with a similar 'feel', warmth and energy is Naples. And Dublin. 🙂
This is an excellent and true reflection of this fabulous city. I am not a scouser but I’m from a nearby town (and therefore a “Woolley”) but this city has such wonderful people who have amazing humour, kindness and pride. Everyone who is going to Liverpool should watch this.
I was born in Hull, raised in the home counties only a few miles from central London but my dad`s job took him north. We lived in Southport 20 miles north of Liverpool and I found my spiritual home.I first encountered loads of Liverpudlians in Southport,it`s suburbs reach half way anyway, then school in Aigburth ending in joining the Merchant Navy and working on Liverpool ships, some sailing from the Pier Head. Then finally running pubs,I married a scouser, raised one son born there but the work took me away and now I live elsewhere but visit ona regular basis, you`re right it`s unique.
As a Dubliner, we filled four days with great tourism 24 hours a day. It's an unmissable city. Highlight was a Magical Tour in a painted Rolls limo to all the Beatle sites with a fabulous driver. From very serious unsavoury history to rocking music venues there's something for all moods. Wolter is a great guide - gets essence spot on and genuinely loved Liverpool.
53 year old Dubliner here, and a Man Utd fan for 45 of those. This is one of the best places in England I've ever been to, magical people very similar attitude to the Irish in regards to humour and to how they've suffered historically. I tip my hat to the scousers, although being a Utd fan I'm sure they'd love to tip me into the Mersey😂.
Funny coz as a scouser I love Dublin. Been a few times. Very similar cities - not too big, lots of pubs, quite relaxed, friendly people. In fact I'd say Dublin was more relaxed. Loved the people coming in with their fiddles and those drums and things and playing the music - and it wasn't for the tourists it was just some locals.
I've found a lot of cities and small towns outside of London to be super friendly. Love London but like New York people are just very busy and everything is a bit frantic. York, Brighton, and Bristol the people were great...I'm adding Liverpool to my next trip!
Liverpool is one of my favourite cities, you can get reasonably priced accommodation, the docs are lovely to walk around and there are lots of great bars. Also lots of free art galleries and museums to visit!!
Couldn't agree more. I'm London born and raised, and lived in Crosby for 18 months. I really liked it, but found the inability to be left alone, a bit challenging. Comes down to what you are used to.
Thank you for such a great review of our wonderful city. Living in the States now you made me homesick. Your enthusiasm and energy is infectious but also true to our city.
Lived in Liverpool for a year and loved it. Return on a regular basis to soak up the atmosphere and to experience the friendliness of the local (and the humour).
Hiya Philip, I hope Everton stay up this season, have you subscribed to KC Imageworks TH-cam channel? Kevin goes with his drone to Anfield and Bramley Moore to show upgrades on the new stand at Anfield and the new ground at Bramley Docks
I'm from the south of England but have lived in Liverpool for 6 years now. I've not seen any of your videos before but this popped up and I got curious. You've absolutely nailed it and completely captured the vibe of the city and scousers and even given me some tips that I never knew of (Scouse in the Cathedral!). Another great day trip from Liverpool is Moel Famau, North Wales, beautiful scenery and there are various walking paths available from an hour to five hours. Plenty of nice pubs in the area to get a spot of well-earned lunch afterwards. Come back soon!
Hey! I’ve watched the channel for years & it’s great to see you in my hometown! It’s impressive how well travelled you are & how true everything on the list is. It’s great to see someone not from the city not playing up to the usual stereotypes for a change. The video is an incredibly accurate representation of Liverpool & everything we stand for. Enjoy your stay here!!
Great little review there bud, fully appreciate your enthusiasm and positive review of our city. Consider yourself an honorary Scouser for being such a decent chap about it 🥇 We're glad you enjoyed yourself too and we'd love to have you back ANY time! ✌

Great take on the city - great tips given. Don’t be surprised to find Liverpool being a hot location for Hollywood either. Some of the biggest movies have been made, as recent as ‘The Batman’
@@woltersworld Interesting....we we're in town (Liverpool) on Saturday and there were loads of cars parked up in Kings Park which looked like they were part of a film production.
Loved this, subscribed immediately! Liverpool grabs you by the proverbials and never lets go…it really is a unique place and your effervescent review really does hit home. I think it has it all, big city vibe, multicultural people and food, great nightlife, history (so much!!), amazing architecture (even after the Lutwaffe and town planners devastated much of it) and the best people. It’s an English/Irish/Welsh mishmash of awesomeness.
I just love your enthusiasm for Liverpool, I can relate to it, because the first time I visited Liverpool was 60 years ago. I visit as many times as I can, because the city is infectious, and I always feel the need to go back.
I love Liverpool. The people are magical. I went to a wedding 💒 there- so much fun and also couldn’t understand one word of the father of the bride’s speech. 💖💖💖💖
Otterspool has my favourite sunset of anywhere, and it’s close to Lark Lane (amazing food and bars) and also Sefton park, which is an amazing green space

Same here! Scouser living in the Netherlands planning a trip home! Lovely to see such a positive video. The fact that most of the comments I have read are from locals appreciating the video speaks volumes to our enthusiasm for our city, at home or away!
Don't forgot to visit China Town too. The entrance is just by the cathedral. And if you get a chance go to some of the bars there. Get off at Central and use the left exit out of the station and turn left. If you turn right from the same exit, there is a cat cafe just down the street 👍👍
Recently moved to the Wirral from London. This review is lovely, Liverpool is hands down a brilliant city, absolutely love it here. Scousers are friendly, fun and kind, great sense of humour and the Mersey is something else, different ships everyday and a surprising amount of wildlife. People who slate it are generally regurgitating tedious stereotypes and don't have a clue what Merseyside is actually like.
@@samdaniels2 yes I was wondering if you can hear Welsh accent in Scouse (as well as Irish) eg Dock sounding like Dokh / Dogh rhyming with Scottish Loch.
@@alicequayle4625 I honestly think the Irish aspect is somewhat overstated, the Irish have only been influencing Liverpool for a few hundred years whereas the Welsh have been influencing Liverpool for millennia. If you listen to most north Welsh accents(Wrexham, Bangor), they are often mistaken for being scousers. I’d say the scouse accent is primarily a mix between Mancunian and Welsh with a hint of Irish
Thank you for showing what our city is really like. Liverpool is amazing and the people are the reason ❤ Tip- Dont but the Sun Newspaper, that paper caused a lot of hurt in our city.

Hi Wolter, watched and loved your video. Your enthusiasm about Liverpool, rings so true with me. I have been coming here from Lindon, for 30 years, and finally have moved here. The city is great, the people are great, and the hospitality and community is spot on. Being a "Cockney" I have one leg longer than the other because it gets pulled so much. It's fun and I love it. Not a scouser but been to liverpool plenty, my mums from Liverpool and my brother went uni there You were pretty much spot on, other than the football kits no one really cares about if you wear a United top especially if you’re not from Liverpool. People are generally really nice you do get a few undesirables like anywhere. Liverpool is a beautiful place full of culture and history I’m glad you’re spreading awareness to everyone, letting them know it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. It has a bit of a rep throughout the uk and a lot of people here haven’t even traveled to liverpool.
I've heard that the people there are quite like us Irish. Friendly and very sarcastic. Anyone i know who's been to Liverpool always had a great time and loved the locals. Thanks for the video Mark, really helpful 😊
My great, great grandfather was a child of 4 when his family fled from Cork during the potato famine. My maiden surname is Dillon, which explains a lot.
I visited Liverpool last year to tour Anfield stadium and have a couple of days away. I found the people to be very friendly and welcoming - I had a great time! I stayed at the Albert Dock right by the M&S Bank Arena and the Liverpool wheel. It was close to Liverpool one Bus Station & some train stations so I found getting around very easy.
Thank you so much for being so positive about us and our City it’s so refreshing to hear instead of all the negativity from the bad press we normally get.what I also like about your views especially because your a tourist and your experience here has brought a non biased approach on us all. It’s a shame that the rest of the country can’t see what we’re really like our whit and humour and friendliness and you understood it without being offended so nice one to you MATE. Instead of the stereotypical false bad press(media) that’s what we’re judge by.Thanks for your visit and you’re always welcome back again as is everyone who visits take care our MATE
The football intercity rivalry is just like the Cubs and White Sox rivalry in my city which I love. I also became interested in Liverpool because it was selected as the host city for this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
I live in Formby, about 10 miles north of Liverpool. I was born here, lived in the USA from age 11 to 25 and then moved back 3 years ago. And my ancestors were some of the Irish fleeing the Great Famine, but they were so poor they could only afford to get as far away as Liverpool! You're spot on about how brutal Scouse humour can be! And you're also right about how Scousers have mellowed about football. Back before my time wearing the wrong kit in the wrong place could put you in danger, but now it'll just get you some good natured ribbing. I bleed Everton blue. Doing the Beatles tour is a definite must for any first time visitor to Liverpool. "Paddy's Wigwam" is an eyesore, but the Gothic cathedral is definitely worth a visit. Liverpool's safety has improved quite a bit lately, but there are still a few no-go areas such as Toxteth and parts of Fazakerley.
I drove round Liverpool a few nights ago with my sons. We went through Toxteth, then had a look at Sefton Park. Then we drove back towards A field to pass Liverpool FC ground and onwards to pass the Everton ground. Toxteth was like Longsight in Manchester used to be before it got Islamised. Some very colourful tattooed characters outside the pubs beer in one hand cigarette in the other

Amazing! London???
Naw Micky that's awesome.
It's definitely not
That's the beach were scum let their dogs attack other dogs dear
It definitely is a wonderful city ❤
I'm from Crosby and maybe the iron men are worth seeing to some ppl but Formby beach is the much better beach

I went to university in Liverpool and miss it so much! This video is such a good representation of how amazing it is there
Why not move back!? 👍
I am coming there in 2 weeks for my masters alllll the way from India. I am so thrilled to go to the University of Liverpool!
My second after Wolverhampton
I’m a Brummie who’s lived in Liverpool for the last 25 years. Great people and far safer than Brum… although I still love my home city
Scouser here, Liverpool is a great city. Such a good video and thanks for all the great vibes about our city.
Are you the one from the Huddle Happy Cap? I would love to go in that cap again, searched for a tel number!
Bravo
As a scouser thanks for this video, it’s appreciated the effort you’ve gone to, to learn the local culture
Scouser here, born and bred. Thanks so much for a great review. SO accurate in every respect. Take care and best wishes.😊👍
Off the beaten track but right in the middle of town.
I performed in the Williamson tunnels when I was at college, was such a fantastic opportunity.
❤ Yes I love the people of Liverpool, everything about Liverpool is wonderful. Im returning later this year... Thank you for another great video 😊😊
It annoyed me that much, I showed my brother the next day that Liverpool people wouldn't ignore someone in trouble, so I did the same thing, I sat in a Liverpool car park to see what the results would be,
and do you know what happened ?, I got fed up with a ton of people asking me if I needed help, hahaha,
It's the things like this that make me love my city.
Dublin is the exact same aswell.
As a proud Scouser I absolutely love your video - you nailed it!
🙌🏽
In my extensive experience in dealing with foreign visitors to Liverpool there is no descending narrative about Liverpool other than they enjoy their visit also when people from Britain ( especially from down south) they cannot believe how beautiful the city and friendliness of the local is and nothing like they expected
Anyone with preconceived ideas about Liverpool should visit you will be pleasantly surprised.
This is so true Derek. I LOVED Liverpool (from Bicester, Oxfordshire).

I loved your presentation. Your enthusiasm about the city and its people was lovely to see/hear and your information was very accurate.
Just get a flight over, there's loads of Polish people here too.

Speke Hall, close to Liverpool Airport in the south of the city, is a great example of a Tudor period mansion and well worth visiting if you like history.
I've lived in the UK all my life and Liverpool is by far my favourite city, it's such a fun place, feels like a city-sized village
Lived there 2 years. An incredible city, with incredible people, the latinos of England, fantastic history and architecture, and scouse tastes great!!
You're right about scousers being the latinos of England. I was born and brought up in Liverpool (Dalrymple St, just off Scottie Rd if you're interested) and the only places I've found with a similar 'feel', warmth and energy is Naples. And Dublin. 🙂
@@zzcanasta Naples is my favourite city, Medellin in Clombia and Glasgow also have the Liverpool vibe.

Nothing but positive memories and experience in this beautiful city. Cannot wait to visit again soon.

This is one of the best places in England I've ever been to, magical people very similar attitude to the Irish in regards to humour and to how they've suffered historically.
I tip my hat to the scousers, although being a Utd fan I'm sure they'd love to tip me into the Mersey😂.
Another Paddy but I went to the Anglican Cathedral not the Wigwam XD. Great city.
Funny coz as a scouser I love Dublin. Been a few times. Very similar cities - not too big, lots of pubs, quite relaxed, friendly people. In fact I'd say Dublin was more relaxed. Loved the people coming in with their fiddles and those drums and things and playing the music - and it wasn't for the tourists it was just some locals.
i love Liverpool Glad you do too Wolters mate!!
I've found a lot of cities and small towns outside of London to be super friendly. Love London but like New York people are just very busy and everything is a bit frantic. York, Brighton, and Bristol the people were great...I'm adding Liverpool to my next trip!
Yes, Bristol ppl are so nice and relaxed
Liverpool is one of my favourite cities, you can get reasonably priced accommodation, the docs are lovely to walk around and there are lots of great bars. Also lots of free art galleries and museums to visit!!
Lincoln is similar to York and not too far away (1 hour drive). Amazing cathedral and castle etc well worth a visit.
Couldn't agree more. I'm London born and raised, and lived in Crosby for 18 months. I really liked it, but found the inability to be left alone, a bit challenging. Comes down to what you are used to.
Birmingham can be great too, although I am biased as I was born there and still have family there

Some very colourful tattooed characters outside the pubs beer in one hand cigarette in the other
So sorry about the Everton thing, are you getting therapy, I understand there are support groups who can help?
