    Hey just watched this video. Looking at getting the pr5000 for my own home gym set up. I saw in the comments you were waiting on trolley arms from rogue. Could you do a short Rogue to Rep review on those when you get them in?

    If the side mounted globe pullup bar mounted in front onto a crossmember would be an interference (and likely I imagine it would). I think then I might opt for the Sorinex Cliff Hanger Handles instead. Have you ever contemplated these for either of your racks?

    Why will REP not allow pre-orders? I want to order the PR-5000 93” in stainless steel with quite a few add ons. I know it’s not currently in stock, but I would like to be able to put all the items together and pay one shipping cost when they are all ready instead of paying multiple shipping costs by piecing my rack together like I’m rummaging thru a salvage yard. I’ve emailed and called them and I don’t think they understand how much more shipping could be if I have to make 7-8 purchases to piece together 1 rack!

    I got a PR5000V2 this summer in large part because of the lat pull-down. The final decision was because it was roughly $1500 cheaper to my door and in less time with the delays Rogue had on the RM6 this summer.
    I also have the globe pull-up bar, and have been a fan but I think that’s just a personal preference. I find it easier to do hanging ab work than with a traditional bar. If you did want to have that flush front look, you could order an extra 41” cross member and then mount the “side-mount” globe.
    Overall, though I agree with the review and appreciate the openness about the rack and it’s shortcomings. I really enjoy the rack for my regular use, but have found some of the accessories to be not quite as high quality. The feedback on the jammer arms has convinced me to go with another brand if I ever decide to get a pair as well.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think if I could do the pull up over again I'd get the arched one. Good call on that 41" crossmember. REP seems to do theirs like sorinex (which I get for ease of manufacturing) but I do like how Rogue specifically has top crossmembers that sit flush with the uprights, just a cleaner look IMO. Great rack though as all my gripes are likely things that no one else would ever care about lol.

    An excellent video, as always from Brandon! As a French, and more globally a European, every time I see such a setup I am very jealous of the strength stuff available in the USA. In Europe, not only it is more expensive, but also the offer is VERY MUCH lower that the one you have in the US. People like you or Coop would become crazy is you had to cope with this 😭. In the upper segment, we solely have rogue (at 1.5/2x the price that the Americans pay, i.e. overpriced) or ATX (German company, more or less an equivalent of REP). I can't wait for REP to finally come to Europe! Happy lifting to all of you 💪

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ah not necessarily with the lat pull down, but attachments in general. Lets say I wanted to mount something vertically on the name plate, you only have access from the back, which renders them useless IMO.

If all your plates were 450mm diameter bumper plates, would the plates hit each other when you were racking the bar for a squat? Hope my question makes sense. I only do the basic compound lifts, squats, deadlifts, bench press, standing press, and barbell rows. I plan to purchase few if any attachments other than the stabilizing front feet that both companies offer. You have reviewed / owned both. If you had to choose, which one would you go with if the difference in price is not an issue. This allowed me to do two things; 1) to widen the distance between the uprights to have 41-1/4” + for the belt attachment to fit, and 2) to move the crossmembers up so the holes for both belt attachment and crossmember to align.

      @@davidstevens8300 @StacyPaul Out of the box no. The rear stabilizer is what it attaches to and the REP is ~2 inches more narrow than a rogue.... I have heard tales of fabricators rigging it together but it would take some degree of metalwork.

      Two issues to consider, rep racks are not as wide and they also are a weird height of around 92". If you figure out a mod to make it fit a wider and shorter rack you should in theory be able to use it.

I am planning to purchase the Rogue RM-3 Monster Rack 2.0 as I do feel that 30” (like you said) is enough to do most home gym workout. However, I am interested in adding the REP Lat and Low Row Attachment to the Rogue RM-3, do you think the REP will fit onto the RM-3 properly? I prefer this Lat/Low Row attachment than the Rogue Slinger too - so I want to ask for your expert opinion if this would actually work before I make the purchase - Thanks Brandon!!! Looking hard at the Rogue RM4 2.0 though as well and adding surplus strength attachments or Lat Row machine but space is limited so it'd be tight with rack + other machine. If space is limited (jealous of your basement lol) would you recommend the REP 5000 + Ares? Have the done any big updates since this review?

    Brandon thanks for the great review videos. I wanted to ask you two questions. 1. Rack Height- my basement ceiling measures 104", so would a 93" rack be too tall (I'm thinking pull-ups could be an issue)? Should I go with the 80" rack instead using the multi-grip attachment it would actually put the bar height at greater than 80". 2. Could I get your opinion on the new Ares machine vs the lat pull-down you've demonstrated in some of your other videos?

    • @BasementBrandon

    I can't understand why these companies don't sell a set of smaller/larger UHMW pads for their attachments so they fit perfect on their competitors racks. I get that Rogue likely would never do that, but the import ones you would think would be a slam dunk. I also don't know why Rogue doesn't put any UHMW on their attachments as well, I'm probably going to put import stuff on my Rogue rack just so it doesn't beat the heck out of the uprights.

    I’m not super experienced, so honestly don’t know. Is it not possible to belt squat from the low pulley. I have the PR-4000 and am able to do this, but not having ever used an actual belt squat, maybe it’s not a good way to do it?
    I even use the low pulley to do standing calf raises by standing on the foot plate and holding on to the back posts for support. Works great.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can but it's not ideal. I actually just talked about this in my latest video. For a real belt squat you want the cable to be as vertical as possible (up and down) and you want a ROM that will allow you to break parallel. Most of these other belt squats have a diagonal angle and limit ROM

    Hey Brandon - One thing that I wish you had talked about and shown more of in the review is how it’s 41” inches wide vs rogues 43”. I take it that you mostly just used this rack for the attachments and didn’t squat and bench much in it? Seems like 41” inches is a superior width to 43” so you don’t have to worry about hitting the bar on the uprights and j cups. I wish Rogue would allow you to custom order 41” top crossmembers.

      TBH while that is a pro of this rack, it's also a con for me when it comes to bench. I'm a bit taller (6'4") with longer arms and when I bench I hit the safeties with my elbows. I actually prefer the wider rack.

    When you bench inside the rack on your PR-500 V2, do your arms rub up against the safety straps, sometimes catching on them? The reason I ask is I have a squat stand that is 42" between inside posts and I've bruised nerves running through my elbows from banging them against the metal safety spotter arms when benching. I see the REP PR-5000 is only 41" inside post to inside post...I'd get safety straps but worry that with my typical bench grip width my arms would catch on the safety straps. I'm 6'2" but don't think I take an unusually wide grip. I've heard some rogue racks have wider inside dimensions...I like the PR-5000 value proposition better but maybe I should go with rogue instead? Thanks for any input.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The back here needed quite a bit due to the Lat pull down ad on and then you have to figure plates on there as well. The saving grace is that the front section being 30" still makes this roughly the size of a 6 post with 43" depth up front.
