    The REP Omni Rack came out to much fanfare, but is it different than the PR-5000 V2?
    The REP PR-5000 V2 Power Rack has become an extremely popular squat rack for home gym owners. I was a bit surprised when REP launched the Omni Rack as it looked so similar to the previously mentioned.
    So, I ordered it and put it to comparison with the REP PR-5000 as well as the Rogue Monster Series.

    Great review. I've been thinking about putting a squat rack in the home in the future, so space is definitely an issue and it won't be bolted down. Sounds like this might be a better option than the ordinary PR-5000.

    Another great review. Could you make a video on the best garage gym equipment for those that want to build a gym, but still need to park in their garage? Large racks like this are great, but folding racks, wall mounting strength equip, portability, folding, and store-ability matter to many viewers who would like to optimize their gym, while maintaining their car parking.

      Enjoy the Rogue rack. Everything I've ordered from Rogue has been nothing short of outstanding, in terms of quality and if I weren't working out in a basement with low ceilings, I would have purchased a Rogue rack. But Rogue doesn't make racks with 80 inch uprights and REP does. So, I ordered the PR 4000 and got all my attachments for it, from Rogue. The attachments are of vastly superior quality to the rack, itself.

    The shipping is going up from Rep as well. I recently had to choose between a Rogue half rack setup with spotter arms or a PR-4000 with some swing in style safeties. While the PR-4000 was a cheaper retail price the shipping tipped the scales towards Rogue by A LOT.

    Sorinex had those hybrid half racks back in the ealry 2000s. My high school got them in 2000 I believe. I ended up finding one off Craigslist for 350$ (including the matching bench) in phx when Arizona st upgraded their weight room. I've had it for the last 10 years until I upgraded to the rep pr 5000 last year. Its a cool concept and feels good to lift in.

    I ordered this rack, with 6 posts and the weight storage, but they sent me 2 bases, and 4 posts. I have the cross members to connect two more posts, but don't have them for the second base. I also got 2 pull up bars, so I'm just a few items short of two racks. Since they didn't want this back when support (finally) recognized the error, I'm mapping out how to use my space efficiently and add a whole second rack.

    Still don’t see why anyone would get this over the PR-5000. It’s the exact same just this has a flat foot design, and it looks to be more expensive then the 5000.

    • @austinsmith680
      @austinsmith680 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think its better compared to the HR-5000 than to the PR-5000. With the HR-5000 you have bolt-on band pegs top and bottom along with a shorter cross member. With the HR-5000 you can't expand but with the Omni you can.
      Changing band post design was a better move from the bolt-on option and getting rid of the overhead band pegs gives more space for the ISO arms and overhead movements. You can also expand the Omni rack out to accept more accessories later like the belt or lat pull. Instead of having to buy a brand new rack you can just update yours.

    • @janosbojthe8086
      @janosbojthe8086 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. Uprights bolted down to the flat foot... it's not that stable. Basically the bolts are taking the heavy lifting. I don't understand at all why REP came out with this rack. REP has the longest front foot on the market (26" vs Rogue's 13"). Nothing makes more stable a rack than those front feet. And you can set them up for all 4 uprights. REP may have some 'leftover' uprights and crossovers and don't want to waste them.

    I want PR 5000 in White. Problem with REP is that they rarely have the right color combination. If you can find uprights in the color of your choice, then crossmembers are not available. Besides, the price difference between REP and Rogue is deminishing. I would just go with Rogue.

  • @fiftyshadesofurban
    @fiftyshadesofurban 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It seems to me the flat feet would be better on the floor than the 4 post design if you don't bolt it down or have it on concrete.. Lets say you drop the bar by accident on the safeties or the straps.. with the 4 or 6 post that don't have the flat feet, all of that force is coming down on six really small surface area points.. It's like six very small beams being thrust very hard down onto what it's sitting on..
    So like I have 5mm rubber mats covering a hardwood floor, and I'm renting. I would feel a lot more comfortable with the flat foot design, because if you accidentally drop the bar then all that force is being redistributed into two very long points of impact and it's a slapping action, as opposed to a stabbing action.
    You can test this right now with your own hand and body.. Take a finger point it out and then ram your finger into your bicep.. Now with the same amount of force, slap your bicep with your palm. You will notice the finger is much more painful and potentially damaging than the palm.

    • @s.z.2271
      @s.z.2271 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm definitely NOT an engineer, but would the crossmembers (PR-4000 or PR-5000) not help with the force impact even though they are not flat on the ground?

  • @josephfogarty3429
    @josephfogarty3429 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Which is the better half rack setup for the money? Rogue HR-2 or the Omni? Outfitted the same they are similar in price.
    I also notice that the uprights are bolted straight down to the base without any side stabilization. Is this an issue for stability/durability? Also are those bolts the same 1” bolts used everywhere else on the rack? They look smaller in photos.

  • @TheDavidWalsh
    @TheDavidWalsh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wondering if the "feet" of the Omni is compatible for use with the PR5000 or PR4000 to make them more stable in a home gym if you don't mind want to bolt them to the floor. And how the sturdiness would also compare to a (non bolted down) PR4000 with the Front Feet Extensions.

    I am comparing Rogue to Rep for a garage rack that need not be bolted to the ground. Rep seems to be much more flexible in this regard. Is this merely a difference in risk between the two companies or are there bona fide design differences between the racks that enable the Rep racks to offer more options than Rogue in their no-bolt racks? Plus, I notice that Coop doesn't seem to think that any rack needs to be bolted down. Is this true? If so, why?

    OK this is my dilemma.🙄
    I currwntly have this set up PRX wall rack and separate valor lat pull down machine, separate rogue pull up bar, separate rogue band station with matador dip attachment and landmine (this is what I currently have right now) and many of other things.. I want the rogue arms so for that I will have to get another rack I think so I been looking at the one mentioned avobe..now if I get the pr5000 with lat pull down, rogue leverage arms, dip, land mind and pull up bar attachments I can sell all my other stuff and this way I will have everything consolidated in one rack..don't know if I will like everything cramped up in one place though🤔🤔. Or maybe just replace prx wall rack with rogue wall rack and keep everything else in separate stations like I have it now??🤔🤔

    Rogue has already increased prices. ): They’ve done it quietly. Only if someone’s been paying attention will they have noticed. For some crossmembers I had in my cart. It was 217 for the longest time. Now it’s 235. Bars have gone up by nearly $50. It sucks.

      Buy a Texas Power Bar. Has better knurling and the prices stay the same.

    Separate subject but since you build these racks all the time...how about some install tips...leveling the floor etc...

    • @andycane007
      @andycane007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rogue has some rig shims that you put under the rack for leveling. But those are for the ones that you are bolting to the floor. Put the thicker version towards the slope/door and the thinner one away. I do recommend spray painting those metal parts to match your rack

    *If you like the Flat Foot design of the Rogue RM-390F, this is the REP equivalent, only more modular!*

    Soon we are going to have our site up, and about 50-ish gym products.

    "The most customizable rack on the market".... Also not more customizable than any other 3X3 1" rack and maybe even less so because to add on you have to use their feet pieces ate the bottom instead of normal crossmembers.

    I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B
