    $26k for the Tahoe wow. I noticed ex-police 2016-2018 Tahoe units for sale around my area for about $18k-$22k CAD with around 120k miles. Idle hours are high but the motors usually sound good so hopefully the AFM doesn't fail.

    Welcome back Chris. Prices are crazy now but it seems like there are a few four-leaf clover bargains like that Dodge Ram. Those Impalas and Tauruses looked really nice. The Tahoe SSV was likely DNREC Natural Resources Police. They drive black Tahoes with similar lettering. $26k for that truck was way overvalued.

    So, i would be willing to bet that those motorcycles all belonged to a community college motorcycle riding class (Like the MSF). Every one of those are pretty eponymous with every class I have read about, and personally experienced. Would make more sense that the state selling some really old bikes, confiscated or not.

    Great auction review! FYI, the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan (Taurus) with the 3.7L V6 and AWD has 305 horsepower. The 3 5L V6 (non-turbo) and FWD has only 288 horsepower.

    • @1VaDude
      @1VaDude 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 3.5L "Ecoboost" V6 has the twin-turbo with all the power [365 hp or so] -- whilst the 3.7L non-turbo V6 is more common & has about 285 hp.
      EDIT: The drivetrain depends upon the model year and which one the agency ordered.

    • @richardberry5984
      @richardberry5984 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1VaDude Sorry, but wrong. The FPIS came with three engine/transmission combinations, from the factory: 1) 3.5L V6 (non-turbo) with FWD rated at 288 horsepower. 2) 3.7L V6 (non-turbo) with AWD rated at 305 horsepower. 3) 3 5L V6 (twin-turbo Ecoboost) with AWD rated at 365 horsepower. I drove these cars for several years as a police officer, and I did my research.

    • @1VaDude
      @1VaDude 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardberry5984 -- I think it depends upon the year of the car (I am a former cop too, but WAY BEFORE the current generation). The Taurus used by our county - maybe 5 or 6 yrs ago - had the 3.7 non-turbo......called a VVTI or something like that. The "ugraded" engine, which our sheriff did not order, was the 3.5 "EcoBoost" V6 that was similar to what came with the Taurus SHO package.
      With the Explorer that they have now (2021+), they have a hybrid drivetrain (not sure of the displacement). The county ordered a bunch of them. Our state police got the new Explorers with the optional 3.0L "EcoBoost" V6 that puts out 400 horsepower!
      It varies by year. Sure was different than when ai had to drive an old Ford Crown Victoria and the investigators had front-drive Impalas.
      P.S. I think Ford even offered a 4-cylinder engine in a few of their patrol cars for non-pursuit duty, but I never saw one.

    • @richardberry5984
      @richardberry5984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1VaDude I have owned two Crown Vics myself. Great cars! Currently I have a retired 2012 Chevy Impala PPV. Also a great running car, with 300-305 horsepower, depending on what reference you read.

    • @1VaDude
      @1VaDude 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardberry5984 -- The 2006+ Impala 9C1 was a good & quick car. The V6 could run to to toe with the V8 Crown Vic. However, they weren't as roomy inside and didn't take as much abuse as the Crown Vic ( unibody vs full-frame ).
      The investigators used the Impala, but they didn't carry all the equipment and none of them had the partition that severely restricted front leg room.
      Front-wheel-drive is definitely better in snow, however.

    Good morning East Coast Classic. It's Ted from Texas. Glad to see you again my friend. I definitely enjoy seeing what the cars go for in auction. Hey Chris, nice to watch a new vid. I like the Ford Fusion . Had an 09 Milan with the 2.3 L and 275 K when sold. Great car. I have an 07 Marquis with 80 K. Has been very reliable. Seeing less of them. When I eventually replace the Marquis (after the inflation gauging hoopla) , I'd really like an 09-12 Avalon with the Fusion as a close second. The Avalon's are great cars but pricey even when used. Thanks Joe

  • @TheCopCar
    @TheCopCar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did I miss this!? Great video! I can't believe how high that Tahoe went for! The market is crazy right now. If you ever see a golf cart or similar up there, you should get the sales price on those too, in Florida they have always sold for quality used car prices.
    As for the passenger van vs bus, it probably has something to do with the CDL requirements. If it's over 15 passengers you have to have a CDL with passenger endorsement and that will narrow the market that's interested in it... but if you convert to / register as an RV, the passenger endorsement doesn't matter anymore.
    Random side note on school buses: This is why school buses sell for dirt cheap. Most people looking for a bus want something a little nicer inside, and opt for a motor coach type setup. In Florida we use school buses heavily in agriculture... mostly as people movers, or cut the top off behind the driver and it becomes a pickup truck to move melons, or pull the whole body off - chop the wheelbase / add a crane - then you can turn it into a citrus loader for cheap.

    The focus transmissions are trouble for stop n go traffic but no trouble for highway drivers. I'm in a rural area and I work on several that have over 100k miles and shift perfect. They have dry clutches that don't like repetitive slip that is done to make them feel like torque converter automatics.

    I love the Taurus in the way they look but engines as for durability Nah!!!! After talking to actual police officers they want their Crown Victoria's back they get tired of dealing with pwr steering, Head gasket, transmission, and water pump failures when they need them the most. Same for Impala and transmission detonating like a bomb at high speed. Big Dodge Best Deal.

      Those Ford 3.7l engines are actually a really solid engine. I have purchased a few with 20,000+ hours on them and still running strong. Water pumps are $ since they are timing chain driven. Cops don't care if the car breaks, they aren't fixing them. The newer police cars offer so much newer technology such as all wheel drive, decent traction control, more hp.

      The best cop cars were the 94-96 9C1 caprice. Way better handling then the Vic’s, and quicker too.

    • @mph5896
      @mph5896 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sccarguy8242 LT1 Caprices were fun. I thought they handled like a couch on wheels though. They sounded fast and would burn the tires off the cars. Mechanically they were pretty terrible.
      New body style 6l Caprice, Dodge Charger Hemi and the Ecoboost Explorers/Tauruses were a welcome change to the police car market for performance.

      @@mph5896 I was a used car dealer at the time and specialized in them. They were great, and with the exception of the optispark they were very stout. The crown Vic’s (at least of that time) were tail happy and handled like crap compared to the caprices. Some departments actually paid for full rebuilds on their 9c1 vs buying new Vic’s. The next Gen Vic’s were better but still slow composited to the 9C1’s

      @mph5896 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      SCcarguy same here. I bought those cars by the truckload in late 90’s early 00’s. Couple Chevy dealers in the area “restored” them as you mentioned. I would get a $10-15k receipt of work done on some cars. They had their problems. Wiring in 90’s Gm was pretty bad. High amperage to switches burning them up along with the plugs. Exhaust manifold bolts breaking off, transmissions weren’t the greatest, steering components were garbage.
