DISASTER! Our Engine BLEW UP!

- The saga continues. All the previous issues in this series seem very minor compared to this one!
We find ourselves dead in the water in west Arkansas with what we think is a blown engine. It was one Crazy adventure figuring out how to get all our stuff back to NC where we were heading. Join us and share this with someone who will enjoy it.
Great attitude and God is good! In the last two years I broke my collarbone and had to get a pacemaker. Guess what? Two of the better things that have happened to me. I'm all healed up and feel better than ever. Those two episodes got me back to Texas around my family again. God laughs while we are making plans, His plan is always better than ours.
I absolutely loved when you called that guy stupid at the gas pumps 😂
I said a whole lot more, and confronted them. My anger got the best of me that day unfortunately
I've noticed in my lifetime that the motorsport, automotive community always seems to be the best people and are always willing to help.
Absolutely!
Yes, indeed! I agree
I don’t have an RV or any Motorsport toys but I’ve been helped out by them when my family needed help. They didn’t have much but they were willing to help in any way possible. Snacks, water and a pair of socks….❤
@mama_keikei8081 I have winched many random strangers out of ditches snow drifts and the occasional large mud hole. And in the future I always will do whatever I can to help those who need it.
This will make for one hell of a campfire story for years to come.
A camp fire story with a video to boot 😉
It's such a helpless feeling being broken down out of town. We had a transmission shell out in Texas and had to rent 2 trucks to get the trailer and truck home. Hindsight we could have had the transmission replaced in Texas for what the rental trucks cost! Gas pump etiquette should be part of the test to get a drivers license! Glad your video popped up. God bless you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cracker Barrel always good for a place to park the camper overnight and get a hot breakfast before you leave...
A lot of good people here in Arkansas. Hope y'all come back and get a chance to explore the Natural State.
It's not the end of the journey. it's just part of it. The uhaul was impressive. Good job man.
🇺🇸🤘🤘🇺🇸
Finally someone uses a U haul for intended purposes to move your home in a single move😂😂
We had a similar situation while up in Maine, 12hrs fro home. We got reminded of Gods provisions and safety! We blew our transmission while towing our 5th wheel at a great place, close to GREAT repair shop, with a KOA near by. God is Good! Ended up having a very pleasant trip, just not as planned. Sometimes, you have to search a little harder to see the blessings 😂
Glad yall made it to your destination safely. I'm looking forward to the rest of the store.
Hopefully just a few more weeks!
Great Vlog! Glad you made it back home!
New to the channel. Love your guys attitude and outlook. We’ve been doing more and more traveling and things happen. Better to always keep faith and look at the glass half full.
Absolutely!
Thank you for sharing your adventures. We live vicariously through you! I'm jealous for sure of your bravery. Keep up the videos and God bless.
Thank you! 🙏
15:02 once again those smiles when they get in that ford ear to ear smiles golden
Great job taking us along on this journey! Felt like I was there with y’all. Thanks 🤙🏻
That’s awesome! That makes me glad to hear it. I figure if my situation was gonna suck, I might as well pick up the camera lol
Omg. I was also born early with my intestines on the outside... Loved this content and glad you and your family made it back home safely. My wife and I also live in an RV and it definitely came stressful.. especially when things break.. God Bless yall and stay strong. From Texas!!
Good job dealing with the issues and not panicking. When there's a will, there's a way. Get er done!
It’s good to have a great partner on your team!
Man I’m glad y’all got back safely and everything has worked out so far.
Man it was a long strange trip! 🤣
Keep up the positive attitude. You were able to get to a safe place to stop. I had a Ford where the engine had stopped on me while towing a 5th wheel on a major interstate highway, where the shoulders was half the size that I needed. It was very nerve stressful. We had to get two tow trucks one for the truck, and one for the 5th wheel. It was very expensive ordeal. I will never buy a Ford again. Thank God we all lived through it with know injurys. God Bless you all.
Awesome video glad everything worked out
Well no I'm a little late but I'm sure glad you guys made it home or to wherever you need to be I think you and your wife did a awesome job with pulling yourself together and getting it figured out Good luck thoughts and prayers from Kansas.
Great job, very resourceful. Reminds me of a trip my brother and I when we went from Chicago to Seattle. Left Chicago Sunday morning got to Seattle Friday nite.
Very cool!
Love the video. Just subscribed! Amazing how you guys handle situations like that. I wish I had that much patience!
Don't let the screen fool you, we are at each others throats at times like anyone else lol. Glad you found us!
Your a great man with a great wife you did everything to the book with what you had. The whole video was me just feel the same ass you especially at the loves. You have a great family and lifestyle I wish to have. Thank you for posting it on TH-cam.my first video I've seen of your can't wait to see the others and more to come! Be safe!!
Thank you!
That was a great video. The box truck idea was ingenious.!!!
I always wanted to try!
First video of y'all's channel.... enjoyed it...and subbed...things dont always go as planned..but y'all have a back plan Wich is king in an adventure/life style such as so...
Good real honest family. Subscribed I love it
Way to get your heads together and solve problems. All glory to God for seeing you through this hardship.
Amen! God is good and really made a way. We were actually just talking today about how we just tackled the problem like a team and got it done!
Your channel popped up as a recommendation, I watched and now subscribed, you were minutes from my daughters house at the U-Haul place, wish I had seen this sooner, my son n law and daughter would have loved to help you and I’m sure I was there since my daughter just had a new born November 6 and I had to come help them and still here as of now. I just helped a friend move from Arkansas to Wilson, NC in October of 23 and I drove the ford f650 and thought we had a bad trailer because I could only see one side of the trailer, hahaha I’m not crazy…lol God Bless Y’all 🙏🏻🇺🇸💯🤙🏻
Yeah that little bit of off set sure makes a bigger difference than you’d think! lol.
Glad you found us, enjoy!
@@TaltonOffroadTravel Yes Sir 🙏🏻
first video I have seen from you. Tough break handled well. I hope the Kodiak lives. God bless ya.
Glad you enjoyed it! There’s a year worth of weekly videos before this, but the earlier ones are hard to watch 🤣
More to come!
I literally just found this channel i am liking it so far.
Awesome!!
Your right Sir you are BLESSED !
Welcome to Arkansas. BTW
Sorry yall broke down. I live in the area yall broke down in. Hope yall pass thru our area again. We do have some cool off road activities and miles of national forest. Just found your channel today and will subscribe and I can't wait to follow yalls adventures. God bless
Not a great visit to Arkansas 🤣.
But I sure did meet some good folks! 🙏
We will be back, I’d like to check out Hot Springs ORV Park one day!
We have had adventures like this. Blew the radiator in an old Winnebago while towing a dolly car going through Washington DC. Spent a weekend in a nice RV park working on it, towed it to my brother's house, drove home to NY in the car. Then drove back the next weekend, replaced the radiator and fan, then drove everything home again. Challenges make good times when you tell the story.
That's the stuff you remember forever and it makes you stronger!
It sucks that you guys had to deal with this, but im happy youve taken us along on this journey.
I’m glad you enjoy it. I plan to continue sharing and getting better at doing it!
@@TaltonOffroadTravel I'm excited to see what you guys do after this
@@cadilakisrodcustom man I got some really cool stuff coming together, Lord willing we are going keep growing and see where all of this goes! 🙏
@@TaltonOffroadTravel I'm along for the ride brother
Mr. Rogers always said.
"Look for the helpers"
I live in Arkansas, and being stranded is not a thing here.
We help, or we know who can.
Thanks for visiting g and hope yall come back and visit.
Going back shortly, and staying under hopefully very different circumstances! 🤘
You guys have such an awesome outlook on things…hats off! If you get a different truck try Ram, you will love it! I still have my 2018 with no issues. Safe journey guys, love the video and will subscribe!
Thanks 👍
You weren't kidding when you told me about what happened with the truck. Man I hope you guys get everything sorted out and can get back to what you enjoy most. God has a plan and y'all are following it!
Man it was really something 🤣.
I’m so glad I recorded it. God certainly has a plan!
Arkansas is my home state , even though I live in Mississippi and take great pride in how you were treated. There are way worse places to break down for sure. Glad y’all made it home safe and Whooo Pig Soooie!
We certainly plan to stop in on a more voluntary stop in the near future!
I rented a 27 foot , stuffed it with stuff, rented a car hauler with it and hauled everything from Florida to South Carolina a few years a.go.. it worked well..took my time. The thing about renting a truck, always take the insurance for piece of mind.
You or the children will ever forget that adventure 😊
I subscribed to your channel all due to just watching this video. You remind me of me lol. Down to earth humble people. The moment your wife talked about the van and didn’t have all the luxury stuff I knew you guys were humble good people. I’m sure as I watch more of your videos I’ll be even more impressed. Correct lol. The U-Haul I don’t know if I’d thought of that one. Awesome, definitely let us know if the v10 gas would be cheaper than a diesel in your opinion.
I was very pleased with the V10, just gotta let it rev on the hills but I’m used to that from my previous 1 ton trucks having gas engines. It bothers some but never bothered me, I’ll hold them at 4k up and hill while I drink my coffee 🤣🤣.
If I guy could find an F650 with that V10 and a cut it up to make a crawler hauler they’d have a solid setup for sure
Dang! We're out of Little Rock. Reach out if you guys ever need assistance again. Even got 30amp power hookup and sewage for the camper! Just send a message! Currently deployed, but I know a good amount of wheeling people in Arkansas. Just found yalls channel! Subscribed!
Thank you! Glad you found us. Thanks for your service. I'll keep cranking out the vids for ya!
Hope everything is goin okay n y’all made it back safe y’all always n my prayers hope everything goes well
Thank you!
Wow what a roller coaster ride hope you get it resolved. So note to me if I break down I’m also going to rent a U-haul truck. 😊😬
It was a heck of an ordeal!
i moved my son to tx from az, all the household furiture and other items plus the garage items in one 26foot haul , the in the other 20footer some basic items to sleep in and pulling a 10,000# trailer flatbed behind the uhaul and on the trailer a monster truck sitting on small shorty tires because of the height on the bridge over passes, I 10 all the way. then turned around in tx , got my duelly dodge 5500 and went back for the items is 3 storages 10x10 each, packed on the trailer and went back to tx, i know how you feel aboiut the sleep, it was killing me,
We were traveling thru Arkansas towing my 37 ft 5th wheel when I started losing power near west Memphis. Was a couple of miles from a Tom Sawyers rv park and were able to get a spot. It was on a Sunday too. Was able to get my Ram into a Ram dealership on Monday in Tennessee they were so far behind it took 2 weeks to get repaired . Ended up being the in tank fuel pump. Thanks to Gosset Ram for working me in. And specil thanks to Tom Sawyer rv park for keeping the space reserved until my truck was repaired.
That’s awesome. You find out there’s still a lot of good people out there when you go thru stuff like that!
She says , "GOTTA FORD RANGERRR," so perfect.
You're a lucky man..
She will explain that to ya.
I just happened across your channel. God works in mysterious ways. You folks are a fresh new face and will have my subscription. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Crazy I live in conway Ar glad yall are safe interesting seeing my town in video
We hope to get back to AR soon!
My daughter kenzie was born with gastroscesis also i share your pain. It was a terrible period of my life chin up and plow thru it. God bless Merry Christmas
You guys handled a tough sitation well. Good job
Thank you!
You guys are great!!!
Thank you!!
Well things worked themselves out ✌️✌️✌️👍👍
We had our trip to remember also. its rough but later on , it will be a funny story. god bless.
The hardest times make the greatest stories 🤘
Great video
Enjoyed your viedo, sorry you had such bad trouble.
Thank you!
Arkansas resident. Glad you made it safely!!
Thank you!
Friend of mine was pulling a large horse trailer with a Dodge diesel and it also blew (hole in block). But it was just like you said - he posted it and people came from everywhere to help. Local farmers /ranchers took his horses back to their place and cared for them for free while he made a plan. Good people everywhere. Hope it all works out for you!
That's awesome! We've traveled this way for a year and I'm here to tell you there's a whole lot more good people out there than the media would like us to believe!
You guys are awesome.
Thank you!
You guys are a great team
Thank you! We certainly get frustrated but we get thru whatever’s ahead of us!
I’m totally impressed talk about embracing uncertainty wow God is Great you have a great network of friends and God is certainly watching over you , I was exhausted watching lol , By far the most realest family I’ve seen on TH-cam, and I’m with you on the inconsiderate people at gas pumps I recently started pulling a 30’ 5th wheel and gas stations are a challenge then you get someone who decides to leave the car and go Christmas shopping in the gas station but you handled it well can’t wait to watch more Travel safe
Glad you found us!
Yes we are spoiled with our fleet card, we are used to only hitting the truck stop. I can pump up to 200 gallons with the big hose, never go inside, and get a discount.
We haul a side by side and all the outside camping stuff in a gmc 5500 box truck. Pull a 32 foot camper behind it....everything in box is dry and secure....like you said, think outside the box.
Or is it inside the box? 🤣
At least you found a rest area open. Most of our here in Arkansas have been closed down.
Yeah we weren’t too far at all from this one. I was so glad, it worked out and was fairly quiet and we felt safe there!
9:31 yep its shares a F-series cab, you can put a king ranch package on it 👀 :-)
Wow .. I’m glad y’all are prepared for the worst.
Thank you!
I’m new to channel God is good all the time watching from Louisville Kentucky
Awesome!! Enjoy!
I could feel your stress bro . Your wife need to take a deep breath and realize how blessed she is to have you. Panic don’t help anyone or anything.
We make a good team! I wouldn’t be who I am without her and could never have worked thru all this without her help!
Thanks for watching!
10:46 yes ford ranger, I’m welcome you to the ford family with open arms
Blessing to be close to a rest area.
You got that right!
I recently bought a 1996 International 4700 with a 16 foot box, & a hydraulic lift gate. A few people have asked me; “what are you going to do with that?”, I always say, “whatever I want.” :-)
Sounds like an awesome truck!
7:30 you look great in a Ford 👀 smiling ear to ear
Any of those v10 ford's tow really nice. My buddy has a 450 with the v10 he knocked the bed off the back and built a custom full-size camper on the back of it. And he tows his buggy all over the US with it. It just rolled over 400000 miles. I'm a die hard chevy guy for life but them v10 ford's tow amazing and last forever.
I couldn’t agree more. I was very impressed!
You are in a great place to breakdown in
We were very lucky to be close to that rest area, and I had a lot of friendly folks willing to help!
I think at the end of the day the big 3 all have their weaknesses.
I’d drop a Cummins in it if I could.
73 years old and still doing it my wife is 53 years we break down every now and then but we deal with it it gets easier but a job well done😊
That’s awesome!
21:35 next get ranger rental, take it to customs shop load buggy on and pull camper
19:50 yes this is golden
Yes, it's such a good feeling when the unexpected happens and you have an emergency fund.
Yes we are very blessed! We just now got it back and we are so excited!
Feel your pain at the gas station..
The morons that think it’s ok to spend an hour shopping at Buc-ees while blocking the pumps is is crazy.
Bahahaha I’ve also said that “This is a rental, I’ll hit everyone “ lol
Y'all have a really neat family! I have really enjoyed your video and ask your wife what kind of truck pulled the trailer to the campground???
Thank You!
Oh btw ...I know once you tool around a bit in that f650 ..your gonna be a fan
Big fan! It had plenty of power and was quiet and comfy inside. Finding a retired one and chopping it up to make a crawler hauler is a good option for sure!
People complain about the V10, and say negative things about gassers but that’s all I’ve towed with for many years and don’t mind them. The high RPMs don’t bother me, I’ll climb a hill at 4k rpms drinking my coffee and chillin 😎
Good Luck!
Thank you!
Blocked in an inconsiderate lady at a gas station outside the South Rim of Grand Canyon once. She had a gasser sitting at a diesel pump and went inside for a long time. I was pulling a 33ft travel trailer on vacation.
That’s what I wanted to hear the lovely couple argument it always works it’s self out at dinner table talk it out.
Never go to bed mad!
Check with your auto/trailer insurance company see if they will reimburse you anything for the rentals.
Glad y'all safe. There is some truth to the badge(gmc) Got Mechanic Coming.
Gmc built the truck, not the engine.
Greetings from Lexington NC
Welcome! Glad you found us!
you said Russellville and I was like ya that's my town roll up I got ya
Good folks all over the country 💪
I had a car inside a large haul with a large trailer boat from San Fran. to Milwaukee, wi in 1974. Then in 1985 I had a vw rabbit inside a large haul from Sault ste. Marie mi to Cleveland oh. no problem except boat trailer bow braket broke and I had to get it welded in a small town on a Saturday.
The kinda trips you remember forever 💪
I had a 2016 GMC 6500. Rear motor seal, blew turbo, 408,000 miles. Had a CAT Engine
greeting from Hickory NC
Howdy!
There still is good people around!!!
Absolutely!
You said it;”we’re blessed not lucky”.
I think it will you guys have a cool ass story, your video just popped up I clicked and was very intrigued way to go!!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Amen.
Your dogs love you
They live very spoiled lives lol. Dogs are family!
I prefer a pre emissions Cummins for this reason, I threw a generator as an apu on my kenworth tow rig so i can have ac/heat without running the truck motor if i break down. Good attitude to turn this situation around !
I would love to put a newer Cummns in it and just delete it right off the bat. Since it is a pre emissions truck, it really wouldn't matter.
@@TaltonOffroadTravel that didn’t even cross my mind, good to know!
What engine is in it? You call it a Kodiak so I am thinking an International.
@@annwetherald1202 nope, it’s a Duramax. The same that’s in a pickup, with the Allison 1000. It’s a pretty underpowered drivetrain to be a “medium duty truck”
@@TaltonOffroadTravel I prefer Caterpillar for the engine in something that heavy duty.
Okay 👍🏽
