    Thanks for watching! And thanks to Reverb for letting me crash your office for the day. Oh and apologies for the slightly out-of-tune chords towards the end, haha. We recorded this in kind of a fun, free-form way, so I wasn't really checking my tuning on the fly. Hope you enjoy it regardless!

      Great video and great guitar Mark. I bought one right when they came out and I play mine every day. Something I experimented with recently after learning some of your material in the 2 open tunings you use was additionally dropping the bottom C to A as you do for your drop A and in those tunings it creates some very interesting octave play with the rest of the strings and I highly suggest trying that out some time if you haven't already.

    I felt exactly the same way about PRS guitars in the 90s! They were so well built and played so well, but I felt like I'd never be able to afford one. I bought the Mark Holcomb signature model with Evertune bridge a few years ago and it's my main guitar. I'd never seen Mark play until today. What a baddass!! Now, I'm even more proud of my PRS. Thanks Reverb and Mark for a great video.

    I really like the fact that he changes tunings on the spot and the guitar doesn't detune at all.

    • @shoeonhead
      @shoeonhead 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm unsubscribing. Umm why? Guitars do detune when changing tunings a lot. A lot of factors go into on the fly stability. For a guitar to be able to effortlessly tune, the strings need to be stretched, the bridge set correctly, the nut cut correctly, the headstock angles can be a factor. So what is idiotic about someone being impressed that a guitar tunes quickly and effectively?

    I'd be interested to play one of these. I think it's funny though how they say it's a long scale for drop tunings though like maybe for a prs but that's a strat scale, it's not like it's 27" or a baritone. Still a pretty sweet guitar I like the color combo.

    • @Praisethemoonx

      this particular model is a 25.5" scale

    • @keith.loves.lasagna
      @keith.loves.lasagna 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CJ was saying that its a Strat scale (25.5" scale as you pointed out) which can be considered "normal" scale or "Fender" scale, but not necessarily "long" scale (I usually hear it called "extended scale" if I remember correctly) which would be more like 26.5" or 27"... pushing into baritone territory.
      This "extended scale" that I mentioned though, I see this more often with basses like Lakland, Peavey, Warwick, and ESP, utilizing an extra inch to the scale (similar to a 5-string bass) on their 4-string models (for drop tuning). I think for guitars, maybe only Ibanez and Schecter does the whole extended scale thing on 6-strings.

    • @ezassegai4793
      @ezassegai4793 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @YouSeeSorrows
      @YouSeeSorrows 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm actually surprised anyone would say they hated those things. All of those actually make playing easier. I guess the fret size is up for debate, but longer scale and a satin neck are definite playability upgrades.

    • @src248
      @src248 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DeadCell34 Longer scale adds tension and makes the reaches longer, definitely doesn't make playing easier. The satin dislike is just a tactile feel thing for me; nothing to do with playability, I just hate how it feels on my hand.

    • @YouSeeSorrows
      @YouSeeSorrows 8 ปีที่แล้ว
