    Incredible artist and life story!
The idea of being drugged by a "father's" orders and waking up in an institution shows what he was like, imo. Leonora wouldn't line up with what he wanted, so it was done.
(I had a very close friend who was deaf and tried to escape an abusive husband in the late 1980's. He arranged to meet her in another state, where she had gone. But this was a trap, and she was also institutionalized by him and kept drugged until she agreed to go back to him with their baby. Years later, she finally got away as well.)
Leonora Carrington also rose above her circumstances and created amazing artworks, which i will be exploring more. Thank you for sharing this video.

In the "Green Tea" painting, Leonora Carrington depicts herself as both the horse & hyena tied up. Deeply symbolic of what she went through.

Great video, thanks for making it and running this channel. Feedback: rising inflection belongs in questions! Your narration consists of declarative sentences.

That must be my Swedish accent coming through! We have a tendency to use a lot of inflections, but thanks

Crazy how they kidnapped her to put her in the mental hospital.

thank-you. knew so little.... oh boy, waking up in an asylum...was there any reported "wrong" with her behavior? would it have put a man in a hospital?

Apparently distressed by the start of the war; a beloved life-partner being snatched away by the Gestapo [thankfully he survived] I think I recognise her as fellow aspergers, ASD would have had a bearing on how she processed trauma, how it exhibited to onlookers - obviously anyone would be upset, but I think with ASD it can be intense inside the head - she probably just needed a friendly, safe quiet home to hide in for a while, & a nice cup of Tea, calm down - But in those days any 'excitable' /'problematic' woman could be incarcerated & experimented on, far more so than men, & for the scantest of reasons.
