Pravus is experiencing the joys of programming where you think your code is working as intended because it didn't crash, to only start noticing the problems later and have to go back and hunt for the issues. Fun.
Or network design. There is nothing like setting up four switches for VLANs in a network and wiring the house for said switches, only to find out, kids want three generations of PlayStation and an Xbox on top of VLAN specific setop box
“Greetings Colonist Bob! Are you getting up for the 4 hour Pravus Praising session this morning?!” “Colonist Betty, I… well if I’m being honest, I worked 18 hours every day this week to fill our lord and master’s demand for machine parts. I hope he’ll understand if I sleep in a little bit… I’ll catch you later, ok?” *Colonist Bob is now a renegade*
Fun fact: Broccoli and cauliflower also are not naturally occurring in nature. Broccoli was apparently bred by the Romans from the mustard flower a bit over 2000 years ago in Italy over a period of a few hundred years and cauliflower was later bred from broccoli (12-13 century or thereabouts). So yes, GMO is evidently not a new thing...
Extended Fun Fact: these veggies were cultivated from a a single plant type, wild cabbage, which has gone on to split into several veggies we know today such as Cabbage, Kale, Brocolli and Cauliflower ofcourse, but also Brussel Sprouts and even turnips! Among various other veggies/greens we now see as completely different plants. But at one time they were all wild cabbage tamed by the Romans which went onto evolve further over the centureies. The Roman Empire really is the foundation of the modern world.
28:50 welcome to the wonderfull world of modding(or coding in general). Just be happy it works and dont touch it every again or it will break even worse then before.
Renegades I tend to solve late game via the sanitarium in an isolated dome away on the map. And prohibit them to exist anywhere else and also prohibit births in the isolation dome.
@@TheVindicar You can do it in the B&B DLC from one of the wonders from the caverns, forgot which one but one of them unlocks the ability to cure Renegades
Well no I don’t use a mod but like I said even if you can’t there still in an isolated dome you can cut off from needed stuff when they get out of hand.
@PocketWolf7642 @@spaceengineeringempire4086Ah, I see. And yeah, in an isolated dome you can get a Rogue Dome event, which can cure all renegades in your colony at the end.
In this episode of "Surviving Mars": Mod patch notes! Pravus lore! Dust devils! Wintertime expansion! Hunting for comfort! Scraping by! SPY! And higher education!
You can still very much enjoy the lore of Warhammer 40k without getting into the expensive miniature collecting and painting. It's actually very easy to "decide" not to get into it: just internalise you're not rich enough to afford it and the temptation subsides after a while.
Or you know... buy some PC games and get mods... We all know, Titus should have had run ins with other chapters, if not outright serving with Blood Angels after his shtick with the Inquisition...
It's what the fluff's there for....although buying the Black Library gets close to the cost of some armies lol, doesn't require me to be able to paint though xD
As a programmer, I'm pretty sure that the only way you're going to be able to update the save with the correct mod template? You'll have to create a new save. Essentially, you have to frankenstein a save, creating a new save with the new version of the mod, then cutting and pasting bits from the original save to change the date, the breakthroughs, the colonist-list, etc. etc. Is it an absolute pain in the tookus? You better believe it. But I've done those things before, and I know it's possible. Really only plausible if you have a human-readable save though?
You can see the comfort needed to get births by hovering over the colonists icon or text (can't recall which) in the dome right above the health stat bar. It also tells you how many males and females want kids and the total births as well iirc. Anyways the comfort for birth with an infirmary is 55 iirc.
Love that you've got those research sites right close to your start, those are going to be HUGELY helpful for sure! I love turning Mars into a sprawling metropolis of interconnected domes with tunnels going everywhere and all linked up, it's awesome. ANNND those dust devils continue to be a huge menace, living up to their names. Dang!
I only learned like a couple months ago that passages are all you need to send power and life support to a neighboring dome. No need for pipes or cables. Did you know?
was about to mention that, took me a long while to notice that as well. I believe it's mentioned in the description, but of course I learned playing the game from youtube 😂 Hm, can a meteor hit a passage and it leak power/water/O2 like a cable/pipe would, or are they immune? It's been a while since I've played.
For your info, I recently played a church of the new ark run at some other location with very similar max difficulty settings (I only didn't turn dust devils to max because I hate them) at almost 1100% on another map, and I never, EVER had renegades simply because I made sure to keep meeting all of the starting colonist's needs and after the initial danger period I (mostly) stopped putting on heavy workload unless I really needed something. If your colonists have high comfort, health and sanity (seriously, don't do heavy workloads especially at night until you've got the techs that remove sanity loss for martianborns, it hurts them badly) their morale will easily get high enough from the start that they won't become renegades, even without that church spire. Having large domes with 100s of colonists and not have to worry ever about sabotage, resources being stolen or spending effort and people on security stations worked AWESOME. I ended up declaring myself victorious at over 1000 pops and all terraforming stats but vegetation at 100% complete and all wonders built, and throughout it all I had, in total, over all those hundreds of sols, THREE renegades when I pushed one dome a bit too hard by automating their jobs away, removing their homes to built a park and forgetting to switch off that dome being preferred for certain perks (whoops!). So yeah, if you've modelled your mod on the church where all are religious then simply focus on getting their needs met so their morale never drops so low that they can become renegades, full stop. Take it from me, it is SO much more relaxed and enjoyable to play that way, and imo very well worth the slight resource investment compared to what you save over the long term. Yes you have to pamper your first few dozen pops and allocate a lot of space to things like a gym, gardens and other amenities in your first few domes. So what? Resources are not your constraint, your people are. You only have one rocketload to start with and after that whomever they birth probably will have flaws and needs that you have to deal with, like it or not. Giving them the comfort so that they can multiple fast so you can start expanding and building mining and science buildings is way, way more profitable in the long run than the few basic resources you'll be saving on short-term by not doing so, at least imho.
TLDR, I'd use some of that space to build a gym, a large garden and a small nursery. Low maintanace and no job loss for much gain and few upfront resources.
Pravus, a question. Why is it that you go with farms instead of ranches, considering ranches don't need specialists to staff it for optimal performance?
To get the game to update your funding... - Create an world event in your mod - Triggers in +1 sol from the current date - The event's action changes your funding/funding pay time/whatever other value you want to edit, to a new value.
Hey Pravus, 40K fan here, I highly recommend playing Tabletop Simulator if you want a taste of what the Miniature game is like. And yes, you are saying Adeptus Mechanicus correctly.
for wh40k you only really need the books and maybe some games, i can really recommend rogue trader, for lore. the game basically teaches you nothing the books can't unless you are into painting tiny people
to make it harder on yourself: 1) don't kill anybody. no bengal fields. no soylent green. no sending people out the airlock. no killing anyone -- renegade, elderly, NOBODY. 2) once you've gotten the mod debugged, add into it severe penalties for any non-natural death (aka bengal fields). that'll make it harder for you and more humane!
Rebel yell starts after 19 pops I build one living quarter and one living complex with births forbidden when full that's 18. You gotta be careful doing planetary anomaly when they return they all go to the closest dome to the landing pad.

Wait I just thought of something. You use landing pads to break dust devils - a think I only leant last episode - you have cables and pipes that are free and don't break. Will they break up dust devils?
