    The best tip I can give to anyone who wanna tame a budgie as quickly as possible is - get a young budgie and only get one of them in the beginning. I literally tamed my budgie in 5 days it’s actually super easy if it’s young and alone instead of pair. A single budgie will look for attention from you instead of its partner. It’s been 4 months now since I got my budgie and it’s really bonded with me and now I am gonna wait few more months since I am trying to teach him how to talk it’s going good now says hello and good morning and it’s clear but then again it’s a parakeet not a human. It’s kinda funny my family members laughed at me when I said I am gonna teach him how to talk and now they all try to teach him new words 😂..

    Looks so easy when watching it. In reality, I have the most neurotic budgie :) A hand is both a friend and an "enemy". He spends a lot of time outside, and I have no problems getting him out and in the cage again. He "camps" on my monitor, and squeeks for me to play him youtube clips with budgies (and also squeeks if the video is over or interrupted). Since he poops a lot on my monitor, I made him a small tree on the table, so he is adjusting to it now rather successfully. He also lands on my head, arm, and phone very often. But boy he likes to bite sometimes, and he bites strongly.
    He also destroyed Dell logo on my monitor, and doesn't let me type on the keyboard. He looks at me typing, you can see him getting more nervous, and then he finally lands on the keyboard, chasing and biting my fingers :)
    All in all, he plays with us, he communicates, he listens, eats well, knows even to go back to the cage himself, but still is angry AF :)

    My budgie washed up in a storm, so he wasn't really planned. Its been a year, he seems to have no interest in taking millet but he is letting the dreaded hand get just a little closer.
    Ultimately, I opted to get him a buddy since he was so nervous around everything. He's relaxed more now that he has another bird to spend time with- before he rarely chirped and wouldn't touch most of his toys, but now he sings his heart out and plays with all the toys in the cage- so even if he never tames up I at least know that he is happy.
    The other budgie is a lot more confident and slowly starting to get more tame with a lot of these tips. He's sassy, but very easily led by his gluttony.

  • @ardalla535
    @ardalla535 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the reminder to be patient. My new budgie won't eat fruits and veggies even after I explain to him they are very tasty. I can tell he's trying his best to understand what my intentions are, but we are two vastly different animals and I probably look like a huge monster to him. When I got him home I immediately started playing youtube budgie sounds thinking that might help. It had a completely different effect than what I hoped (at first). He went nuts and started darting around in the cage desperately trying to get to the budgies on the screen. At the same time he seemed to be calling out to them for help. I had to turn it off. Later on he calmed down and now he sometimes likes the sounds, sometimes not so much. It's hard to have patience when I want him to try the fruits and veggies and he apparently has no idea at all that they are food. Patience is necessary. If he would just take a bite of the crushed grape, I know he would love it. He's very stubborn.

    I have my little birdies now for little over a month, one of them is finally eating out of my hand, always comes flying to the cage doors whenever I walk to them or by. Today she let me pet her, felt like a proud mom 😭😂 her partner is still extremely shy. He started eating through the cage but never when I go in with my hand, but even eating through the cage is an accomplishment cause he never came close whenever someone was standing too close.

However I can try to tame them without leaving I'll try to see if I can clip their wings, but for now i want to tame them without clipping. (Idk If this is progress but in the morning when I go to the cage to check the food and water bins, my older femal bugie , blueberry comes to the food bin whenever it is empty and when i tap on the cage it softly pecks my finger)

    A few tips for taming a budgie:
    1.After bringing him/her home LET HIM/HER SETTLE! for about 2 weeks 😇
    2.Sit in front him/her and do not show hands very much because they can think that you're going to harm them .🧤💚
    3.put hands on cage for atleast 2-5 minute
    4.After quite some days open the cage and hold the food bowl infront of them (dont force them if they are scared)
    5.You can also feed them from the outside of the cage!😃
    6.when you see that they are bot scared anymore start a training session.
    7.Hold food in your hand and go step by step😙
    I hope these little tips help you.😊

      The same for my Cockatiel, Candy, she just passed away three days ago because of an awful allergic reaction to human eye drops that my stupid Vet suggested to use. I was suspicious from the first day about it since according to all the research I did on the internet they weren't even safe for dogs to use. But both the Vet and my mother kept pushing me saying how I don't want her eyes to recover, so in the end I ignored my instincts and gave her the eye drops. In just four days she passed away screaming in agony in my hands as I hugged her for the first and last time trying to force feed her medicine but it was too late. It was Sunday, 29th November, and the Vet was enjoying his holiday while Candy and I suffered. She lived for two years and seven months, I had rescued her from a family who had neglected her for some months, but in the end she passed away because of me. I am so sorry Candy, I wish I hadn't listened to that Vet but I know that now you're probably flying free high in the clouds with Lily and all the other pets who passed away. I wish it was different, that I never listened to them, but because of my mistake it did, I just hope something like this never happens again my little Cockatiel. You have no idea who devasted I feel right now, I'm sorry.

    I used to have a very close bond with my budgie, it would chill in my room, on my shoulder while I was working, etc., but sadly it passed away due to disease. I truly loved her so much, and to this day I miss her, though it’s been a good four years. My siblings also had budgies, but they never took that good care of them. These budgies are four years old,, I hope it’s not too late to begin training them now, although I know it will take a lot longer.

    Hey, I wanna talk about my experience with budgies.
    2 years ago, I bought 2 budgies. 1 was yellow and 1 was blue-white. They were good friends and had fun together. One day, the yellow one was hanging at a side of the cage and making weird face expressions. We were scared that something is wrong with him or that he’s sick and took him to vet soon. I had an important appointment with my doctor so I couldn’t go with my budgie. When I came back home, my mom told me that he died (R.I.P. January 9, 2019). I cried all night and felt bad that I didn’t treat him right or idk... Eventually, we bought a new one, I didn’t want to replace him but I also didn’t want to keep my other budgie lonely. They also were good friends, my new budgie was trained and I was happy about that. Then, one day, he started shaking with his tail and I googled what it means, I realised that he was sick. We talked to a professional person and they said that we have to give him medication, which we did. But the medicine didn’t help: He died a few days later (R.I.P April 14, 2019). I was upset and really wondered why all of this happens... We bought another one. My parents said that if this one dies, they will no longer be buying other budgies. So, this one survived a really long time, but also died (R. I. P November 7, 2019). And really quickly. I buried them all in my garden and hoped they’d rest well. I decided to keep my budgie alone from this moment on. To this day, I think that it’s an infection that my budgie is giving his partners. I know that it’s not good to keep him alone, but I can’t let other budgies die.
    That’s all of my experience. If you have any birds or pets in general, I hope that none of this happens to you. 🤍

    My mom found a budgie at my parking lot and decide to keep it. It loves my mom instantly without her having to tame it. My mom is working so she decide to hand it to me , wish me luck taming my budgie 🥰

    I got a new bird his name is Sunny!
    I’m currently teaching him to talk
    He is very young a bit tame too..
    I got him 3 days ago and he immediately came to my hand!
    He was so happy with joey and his new friends! :D
    He also started chirping and making budgie sounds! I knew he was happy 🥺, I’m so happy that I adopted a bird that just didn’t have a great home.. now he has one...
    Which is me💛
    And I’m proud of it❤️ and always will be
    Until my life ends 😞🥺

    I am lucky for this because I brought 1 budgie on 18 feb 1 full day I let him settle in my house ....On the third day means 20 feb I took the seedmix in my hand and gave it to him in his cage to eat... You won't believe within 5 minutes he sat on my hand.... I can't tell you how happy I was.....😍🙊 I did not expect this so soon ....Only one condition is to keep away budgies food for 2,3 hours.... then magic will happen ....😙now he sits on my hand whenever I put my hand inside of his cage.....

    I have had my bird for around 1 month now.. she is not scared of my hand and will come straight over to get her millet lol even when I have changed her water and went to palace it back into the cage she flew onto the water bowl and let me move her around the cage whilst perched on the edge.. aww she is the best thing ever.. she already does wolf whistle lol! But the thing is I’m still trying with her to be comfortable to step up onto my finger without food! 😂 great video. I think I have done a good job with my budgie especially because she is my first ever bird and from all the videos on TH-cam and things I have read, it seems she is very happy and healthy.

    • @dennythebudgie
      @dennythebudgie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same with Jenny, tamed but sometimes she ignore us. 😂 I think that happens with females often, also with Denny. 😥 But he is a bit lazy, so he don't flap his wings, and don't come to us, he only run to us like lil dog. Sad to watch, when he falls. 😓 But our Job is to take care of them.

    • @tanyamariebarlow9284
      @tanyamariebarlow9284 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Denny The Budgie aww haha! I was actually thinking maybe it’s the birds individual personality too. Aww that is sad ☹️ when I first got my budgie I opened her cage on the second day of having her and she flew very strange like she didn’t really know how to fly.. but I’m thinking did she ever get to go outside of a cage.. I purchased her from the pet shop near my home, they didn’t really know how old exactly she was or anything about the breeder! I’m thinking she was just kept in small cages! But now she flies really well so I’m happy. She doesn’t like the cage door closed.. but I have a cat so it can only be open when I’m home.. which actually is a lot right now anyway. My bird hates my cat lol! She flies at him and he runs away 😂 but my cat is kinda strange as he is scared of our pet hamster too lol! But still I wouldn’t trust to leave them both in a room on there own 😂 they are intelligent and beautiful little birds aren’t they. Your videos and your birds are wonderful 👍🏽

      Some budgies just can't trust anybody,it may just be their personality,or maybe a thing in their past that made them like that(i.e bad owner).You don't need to be sad,just let it live its life and make it be happy,that's the most important thing of them all

    Usually I agree with all you say - except for this: It´s much more natural to keep two or more budgies than just one. A human is not a replacement for a real companion, they need each other. It´s still easy to tame them. Sometimes one of them is tamer and the other will learn from him. I used to have two budgies when I was a kid and they were tame. Now I have 5 and it´s so much more fun to watch their natural behavior, they are so happy.
