Could you tell us beginners about Biting/pecking as this is half the amount of taming that isnt ever expressed. When someone/families get thier first budgie, the first thing that comes to mind is...'will it bite...will it hurt' once they get pecked/bitten...the person/family members could pull the hand out very quickly out of fear, causing injury to either themselves..or the budgie. Parakeets have become great pets to my son . He has autism and is very sensitive to loud noises but for some reason with those parakeets it doesn't bother him at all. They have actually made him more social because he comes out of his room to play with the birds and walks through the house petting them.
I'm getting mine soon. I spend all day at home, so plenty of time to bond. I'm gonna read out loud to him, I heard that helps them get comfortable and start to bond with you
that is not a good idea to do!! you should only cover them for when they sleep. doing it just to shut them up can sometimes make them confused, stressed, and angry :(
Until one day you forget to take the towel off and you forget they are there because they aren’t making any noise and suddenly three months later, your bird is dead from starvation.
I love the fact your videos are complex - you tell the whole story. Thumbs up! Many people have no clue what it takes to create a good home for a pet ... I thought my budgie "step up!" IN ONE DAYYYYY she is three months old, so that's probably why it was so easy to tame her. Her name is Emma, she is named after Emma from the promised never land.
I tamed my budgie after one day. She’s my BFF. she’s so sweet. Guys don’t give up. I know some budgies take longer and it’s hard. But once you get to know them they will be you best friend.

Hey, thanks for this! This video is very educational, informative, and entertaining! I know how to take care of parakeets but I never learned how to tame them. The parakeets I have are mostly untamed, except for one and I'm guessing it was hand-trained by a previous owner. Anyway, now I know how to do it, so thank you! I look forward to seeing more of your videos! You just earned a new subscriber! :)
Thank you for the informative video. I hope one day my budgies will go on my hand. But the good thing is my birds do a lot of the happy things listed in the video.
Thank you for this video! We just got 2 budgies. This is the first time I’ve had budgies as an adult and its been a learning experience. I was worried that they may not be trainable but Ive only had them for 3 days. I have seen some of the good behavior mentioned in this video tho. So we’re going the right direction!
XBLUE _ SKYX I know right About half a year ago my window was open and my budgie flew away when I was training his, I had his sister too and now I’m training her but she only lets hold her The boy budgie instantly reacted with me the day I got him, he was a baby though so maybe that’s why
There are a few days I cry myself to sleep because I’ve had my parakeet for 9 months now and won’t come out of his cage no matter what we try he only comes out when nobody is around and I need help.
Oh god thank you very much... because of your videos today I got the chance to feed my birds by myself.. I opened the cage and got my hand with a fruity seed treat and slowly they started to eat I felt my heart beating happily 🐦 though my family started to say they will hurt me and stuff like that but I was very confident that they will not because of your videos
I would like your opinion. Pico was a rescue parakeet. Someone found him in a parking lot, eyes shut from infection. His beak is not straight, therefore I need to trim his beak on occasion. One nostril is damaged. He was pretty much left alone for about a year. I adopted him more than a year ago. He is pretty comfortable with me. Sometimes when I talk to him he flies to the side of the cage to be near me. I also let him out, etc. Change needs time for him to get comfortable. My question: Should I get another bird?
I have a cat. She never is aloud in my room. I have a dog. But we have stair gates so he stays downstairs. I’m getting a budgie this weekend so I’m SO excited! I’ve been doing research for so long. Update: I ended up getting him on Monday the 30th January 2019

Hi. Thank you for the educational video. I love all birds.🥰🦜🦜 Tame or wild.🦅 I've two whittle budgerigars now and had 20 years of having birds 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜 in my life. Birds 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜 have taught me so much❣️🕊️ I believe having a relationship with a topical veterinarian to sustain for healthy bird or birds is essential! Thank you for stressing the same importance too. Also if people do find that they would be great for a budgerigar, that first time parrot aught to be a budgerigar. And I totally agree 👍 with adoption of one! There's to many sad birds that need good homes with caring life long guardian or guardians. I hope people will come to your video first. Before extending their families with a inacent and "delicate" being, that of a budgie. Chirp, tweet, tweet, chirp for now. And the heart be love on the wing. Gypsy White Horse 🐎🕊️🪶
After watching a little video put out by the BBC on budgies I’ve decided to get another buggy and I will be sharing some time with you now for a while. Thank you for all that you do and all the learning that I’m going to get it’s been probably 20 years since I’ve had birds and I am not gonna spend thousands of dollars to get a bird because budgie is just as big a bird as a MacColl inside. Lol and you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get the big love a bird can offer
i really need help, i started too soon reaching in their cage, and now i think they’re afraid of me. i was really ignorant when we got them and i was also agressive with them. they will step on my fingers but all my siblings want them on theirs too. idk how to tell then to leave them alone when they’ve already touched them and think it’s ok. i’m 90% positive i’ve lost my budgies trust, and now i have no clue what to do
Well reminds me my budgie screetched and stemped on her feeder. I was like what's up buddy? She stemped again so I found out the feeder is empty which was impossible i filled it that morning. So I added some grain and waited. That little bi*tch threw all her food out of the feeder because she tried to press whole her body inside the feeder 🤦♀️
I hope my little Mishu comes to trust me soon! I adopted him about 2 weeks ago... he’s spoiled rotten I tell ya and I keep his cage open 24/7, I want him to live freely....
Ooh yes, I can definitely agree with how stubborn that budgies can be! She came from a place without variety in her diet, and now it is hard to get her to eat anything like vegetables or fruits.
Had friends who had a budgie for about a year, before they could even tempt him to come out of the cage. He would go nuts inside it, but was still shy and would move to the far side of the cage when they approached it. Thankfully he now comes out of the cage and goes onto their hands, so long term their perseverance paid off. They are extremely bright birds though and there is a lot of natural variation in personality types I believe, but I think perseverance can slowly win a lot of less friendly or shyer ones trusts. I got lucky with mine as he became tame very quickly. He soon worked out how to get the cage open when no one was about, leading to me having to put a clothes peg on the door when the house was empty, which was a shame, but the potential for accidents was just too great. Let him out plenty when we were in and was surprised when, after a few weeks, I pressed my finger where his legs joined the rest of his body and he stepped on quite the thing. He became extremely friendly and comfortable around humans and would come across and cling onto the bars of the cage, if I approached it. Perhaps the design of his cage helped. It had a long perch, amongst some transverse ones, running along much of the the length of his cage, which had most of his bells hanging over it and became his "living room perch" kind of. It meant that most of the time he was facing out of the side of the cage, getting a good view of what was going on. He seemed to almost think he was onstage when he was on it sometimes and would prance and dance and showboat around on it, chattering away in a very cheerful seeming manner, going nuts, especially if he had an audience.
When I let my budgies out there this door that has plastic lining over it and once Twitter(my light blue bird)was flying so fast and headbutted herself into the door xD .(she was fine but a little dazed)
I didn’t do a couple of the steps in this vid I have a perfectly tame budgie by week one of gettin him. He was called jojo. He loved me the first week. He would fly to me open his cage on his own to fly to me and I a identicaly led the window open bad he found. It. But I call to him and he came to me instead of flying a way. He die in 2018 from old age. I have him for 7 years and he was 8 or 9 year old. From the pet shop. And yes he was an un tame pet shop bird But I got him.
So I have a canary who is downstairs and I want to have a budgie upstairs in my room. Is this ok? Also everyday I got to school from 8:15 to 4:30 because of after school activities. I wake up at 7:00 to get ready for school, since I'm gone a lot of the day should I wake up my budgie at 7:00 to so I can play with him in the morning while I get ready? My dad does stay home during the day but I don't know if he would be willing to socialise with a bird during the day. What should I do? Thank you.
Elena it’s hard to tame more than one bird at a time. Therefore having them in separate cages makes taming much easier on both you and the bird. It’s one on one instead of one on one with another bird.

Parakeets have become great pets to my son . He has autism and is very sensitive to loud noises but for some reason with those parakeets it doesn't bother him at all. They have actually made him more social because he comes out of his room to play with the birds and walks through the house petting them.
IM WATCHING THIS VID WHILE OPENING THE CAGE FOR MY BIRDS AND WAITING THEM SECRETLY TO COME OUT
budgies needs everything and the most is love :3
One Budgie is a lonely one.
Pairs are always better. ❤️❤️❤️
My new budgie does acrobatics! Hanging upside down all the time. I’m so glad it’s a good sign!!
I'm getting mine soon. I spend all day at home, so plenty of time to bond. I'm gonna read out loud to him, I heard that helps them get comfortable and start to bond with you
Anyones budgie bob there head up and down soooooo cute 😂
animal carer 291 Jimmy does it when he hears music or wants to play.
My Coco ❤️ does it and he looks so cute 😍😍😍
Awwwweee yeah mine dose it
I’m trying to teach them to do it lol
For my parakeets/budgies. Every time we put a towel over their cage they would stop making noise 😂
Itz Julian that’s what I do to make them shut up when I goto sleep
Yeah i do that too
that is not a good idea to do!! you should only cover them for when they sleep. doing it just to shut them up can sometimes make them confused, stressed, and angry :(
Until one day you forget to take the towel off and you forget they are there because they aren’t making any noise and suddenly three months later, your bird is dead from starvation.
Psycho Sarah i feel like this happened to you before
I Love Budgies❤
who else doesn't have a budgie but just likes watching them lol they are so cute
I love the fact your videos are complex - you tell the whole story. Thumbs up! Many people have no clue what it takes to create a good home for a pet ... I wish your videos are played at all pet stores on a BIG BIG SCREEN and LOUD so ignorant people get the data they so desperately need to make a the right decision for a change ...
I have two budgies soul and rico there both boys. Soul is calm and he lets me pet him but he wont get on my hand rico on the other side is super scared of me he gets scared if he even sees my hand its been two weeks now plz help
NOVA GTX maybe try giving millet they really like that EDIT:try feeding them that will show them that you are not a threat
Don't worry, 2 weeks is nothing, just keep being nice and patient, taming a bird takes lots of time. Taming my budgie took me 5 months and now she's super bonded to me 🤗. The keys are being nice and patient so that they don't get scared and offering them food they like with your hands 💙🐥 also talking to them and having them near you so that they get used to you
Thanks
I thought my budgie "step up!"
IN ONE DAYYYYY
she is three months old, so that's probably why it was so easy to tame her.
Her name is Emma, she is named after Emma from the promised never land.
My sister is very young and she needs sleep...
Do I care? Nope, my older siblings never cared about me😂
But does your younger Sister care about you?
lol
ValnAhʕ •ᴥ•ʔ who cares it's not like she's the parent

I tamed my budgie after one day. She’s my BFF. she’s so sweet. Guys don’t give up. I know some budgies take longer and it’s hard. But once you get to know them they will be you best friend.
my brother has 2 parakeets and he got them both at the same time and both of the birds dont really trust him and he gave me one for a while so he can gain trust in them 1 by 1 and im trying to tame one of them myself. This video is very helpful.
I never thought I did stuff I wasn’t supposed to do. I’ll fix this.
Me: socialize with my parakeet 24/7
My parakeet: Mego bye-bye scary hand
“Parakeets are very social birds”. My parakeets that are so quiet : 👁 👄 👁
after month my budgie finally is letting me touch him 🤣😭🤣
XBLUE _ SKYX I know right
About half a year ago my window was open and my budgie flew away when I was training his, I had his sister too and now I’m training her but she only lets hold her
The boy budgie instantly reacted with me the day I got him, he was a baby though so maybe that’s why
Heh, same with me, but she is still scared. Sometimes, when I look away, she would run and escape
When i first got my budgie he let me touch him but the female.. She's still not tamed up to now....
I had four parakeets and I loved all of them. They were so sweet, loving, friendly and fun to have.
At least you can touch him/her (I dont assume). I'm about to start attempting to gain my budgies' trust.
There are a few days I cry myself to sleep because I’ve had my parakeet for 9 months now and won’t come out of his cage no matter what we try he only comes out when nobody is around and I need help.
hey it’s 3 months later . How is he ?
6 months, how about now?
8 months? We need an update!
11 months, how is he doing?
1 year? Pls update
I watched this and tried this with my budgie and I a improving! I will be watching u more often
Budgies and parakeets are my favorite animals
budgies and parakeets are the same animal lmao
There the same bird
That feeling when you really want a budgie and keep watching bird videos but your mom says no :)
ur not alone btw this its my moms account
Try to make a presentation!
Sometimes when I talk to him he flies to the side of the cage to be
near me. I also let him out, etc. Change needs time for him to get comfortable.
My question: Should I get another bird?
Pat Mullarkey yes..its always great to hav a companion..
Alen plagiarised this video so I’d recommend going somewhere else for advice
I have a cat. She never is aloud in my room. I have a dog. But we have stair gates so he stays downstairs. I’m getting a budgie this weekend so I’m SO excited! I’ve been doing research for so long.
Update: I ended up getting him on Monday the 30th January 2019
recently one of my parakeet died
so i thought of taming one of my budgie he was kinda lonely its been 7 months when being untamed thanks for the information.......
As i am watching this i am training my budgie i had him out of his cage and i have been training him to fly to my finger for a month or two now and he still is not getting it is this normal
i love birds and parrots my favorite animals have a good life birds and parrots whit ur owners 😊❤❤❤
Hi.
Thank you for the educational video.
I love all birds.🥰🦜🦜 Tame or wild.🦅 I've two whittle budgerigars now and had 20 years of having birds 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜 in my life.
Birds 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜 have taught me so much❣️🕊️
I believe having a relationship with a topical veterinarian to sustain for healthy bird or birds is essential!
McCaw
I’m getting 2 budgies soon and all I’ve learned has come from you! Thank you so much 😁🙏
"Think about whether you are ready to keep 2 birds at once."
Me: I have 2...
My Grandma: I have 4-
I got my budgie from a woman with over 50 birds-
My grandma has alot of macaws and parrots, she's a rich lady with a huuuge house.
i really need help, i started too soon reaching in their cage, and now i think they’re afraid of me. i was really ignorant when we got them and i was also agressive with them. they will step on my fingers but all my siblings want them on theirs too. idk how to tell then to leave them alone when they’ve already touched them and think it’s ok. i’m 90% positive i’ve lost my budgies trust, and now i have no clue what to do
How could someone forget to give water and food to a budgie? I've been really upset over the thought of this
Well reminds me my budgie screetched and stemped on her feeder.
Love 💕 your voice , the way you can change it two soft; Loud,@ meaningfull🌹💕🙏
lowkey had my budgies for about a year, but ive tried all of these and yet their still sassy marshmellows
(they fluff up their feathers)
madddy same!!
Assume they’re trying to seduce you, and mimic them by fluffing up your hair
I have budgies and I love them. They love nibbling our hair! Like if u have budgies
Omg this helped so much I tamed my too parakeets!
Sorry but I have to *two*
This video help me a lot. I have learn a lot I just got my parakeets a week ago I love them I name them Blue and Feathers.
Ooh yes, I can definitely agree with how stubborn that budgies can be! She came from a place without variety in her diet, and now it is hard to get her to eat anything like vegetables or fruits.
Thanks, you earned yourself a subscriber! 🤗
Fate Blossom no one cares
@@fuzzyfuzzy1972 Well you obviously do because you replied!
He plagiarised the video tho so don’t subscribe
I'm trying so hard but MY BIRDS JUST WONT LOVE ME😒🤣
Barry Crosby 😂😂
me too
They will love you eventually don't worry🐦❤
When I let my budgies out there this door that has plastic lining over it and once Twitter(my light blue bird)was flying so fast and headbutted herself into the door xD
.(she was fine but a little dazed)
Thank you a lot because I can't tame my parakeets but when seen your video now I can tame my bird thanks again for your advice
And love your all birds
I really love the aquariums. Gorgeous.
I love you birds
I didn’t do a couple of the steps in this vid I have a perfectly tame budgie by week one of gettin him. He was called jojo. He loved me the first week. He would fly to me open his cage on his own to fly to me and I a identicaly led the window open bad he found. It. But I call to him and he came to me instead of flying a way. He die in 2018 from old age. I have him for 7 years and he was 8 or 9 year old. From the pet shop.
And yes he was an un tame pet shop bird But I got him.
"Can live for 15 20 years which is more that a cat or dog"
My 18 year old cat: am I a joke to you?
So I have a canary who is downstairs and I want to have a budgie upstairs in my room. Is this ok? Also everyday I got to school from 8:15 to 4:30 because of after school activities. I wake up at 7:00 to get ready for school, since I'm gone a lot of the day should I wake up my budgie at 7:00 to so I can play with him in the morning while I get ready? My dad does stay home during the day but I don't know if he would be willing to socialise with a bird during the day. What should I do? Thank you.
I don't know why but birds are just so precious
My bird just bit me🙁 now I have wound and scratches on both of my hand......
Don't worry i have a albino female SHE HATES ME AND BITES SO DARN HARD so u r not alone (:
Why do you keep Cookie separately?
Elena it’s hard to tame more than one bird at a time. Therefore having them in separate cages makes taming much easier on both you and the bird. It’s one on one instead of one on one with another bird.
And they are stubborn
Me: yes they are stubborn indeed
Parakeets: **SKREEEEEEEEEEEECHHHHHHHHH**
Me: a lot...
I held millet up to one of my parakeets and he started nibbling it! The other one wasn't sure about eating it, but this is an epic milestone.
This is the best channel of birds that I've ever seen✨
