hello! here’s another video about a weird game you probably haven’t played! thanks for watching my stuff, and i hope you have a lovely holiday season. (also i tried holding the mic this time, not sure if i’ll stick with it but i’ve been in an experimenting mood lately)
@BOOMBO11 im secretly hoping this is a gentle nudge to Yakko that there isnt a proper appreciation to ProjectMoon games. It's a vague, naive but genuine hope.
exo primal has no content only 1 game mode and fihgting bosses (the actual fun part of the game) is random and you can go hours without seeing one. and the pvp can be fun but very unbalanced as they focused balance for the pve and you also have to slog through the same repetitious pve to get to the pvp and then you might not even get the type of pvp you enjoy and most of the pvp is also pve (nothing quite as frustrating as losing a 1v1 pvp encounter cus you had 2 raptors chewing on you and they didn't) so conclusion: if you enjoy pvp too bad you have to do pve to get to it if you like the pve great but you will run out of content fast if you like to fight giant raid bosses good luck ever getting the boss fights to roll fixes that would get me to play again: they need to add a matchmaking selection that lets you enter queue with players of >x level and a mode that is just boss fights like i wouldn't even complain if they made it random what boss you get but just a mode that can only roll the boss fights would be amazing (same thing with pvp)
Those cooler gamemodes being locked until you progress the story further sounds cool in theory but that alone turns off a lot of newer players from wanting to push on from the first few hours if they arent aware of it and eventually, its gonna be really hard finding players in the cooler gamemodes if too many people dropped the game too soon.
That and the first few hours are ass, had the whole game been fun including the beginning modes people might have actually just unknowingly played longer.
I definitely shook my head when I heard that part in the vid. How are yo going to lock that stuff behind progression without ANY hint that's what's up ahead? And worse yet, no ability to progress either by choice, not getting to progress at a slower rate if you're not doing your objective(s), or have you unlock it by doing the slow progression route then doing a solo/queued up mission for it (and filling with bots if not enough players are around). Making things far worse is needing that 3rd party account at all. Unless that was a growing pain deal and they've since patched that out.
This, i played during a free weekend and there was nothing to even say that there was more content to unlock, i wouldn't mind having some things locked to begin with if you at the very least knew there were things to be unlocked new players shouldn't have to look to google to find out if there is more than 1 map and 1 game mode
This game being PVP is what killed it, everyone wanted a PvE game, many big content creators say "The game is amazing until you have to fight other players and it feels forced".
I've seen a lot of people wanting a game more akin to Left 4 Dead or EDF (or just saying Capcom should've made a new Dino Crisis), but I think the PvP (while very flawed) is what makes Exoprimal stand out. I personally don't think the PvP is the sole issue as it stands, especially with how underwhelming a lot of the dinosaur combat feels. With the amount of changes they'd have to make for it to be a full-fledged dinosaur PvE that could stack up against something like Destiny or Deep Rock, though, it'd be asking for a completely different game.
Yup, having to balance EVERYTHING in a game for pve and pvp content at the same time is just too dumb to try. Look at something like destiny 2, how many years have the pvp and pve players bashing heads (and ignoring the pvpve players). Just make something like EDF or Deep Rock Galactic and focus on one thing.
Yeah, the problem I had with Exo was that there was genuinely a funny and campy story going on, but all that Live Service PvP stuff was getting in the way. I would've liked a PvE hero shooter.
Why do one thing well when you can do 7 things subpar. I wonder if devs are trying to get their games on as many for you pages as possible, so the more tags they can put the more people they can reach 😑
Fun fact: the pure pve is basically gambit from destiny. It suffers from a lot of the same issues. I am glad to see a game try what gambit did all those years ago but it seems like the idea is a lot touchier than anybody thought and is incredibly difficult to execute. I have hope for these ideas in the future though.
You have to go all in, thats the biggest issue imo. The entire game has to revolve around that really tight balancing where you can't have things too efficient but you're also just like ... incentived to one shot everything lol
I think that one of the problems was that when the game was showed and the people saw: CAPCOM, red hair lady and dinosaurs you automatically think Dino Crisis and Capcom knows how much we want a remake or another game...it felt like a bad joke. Great video!
It would likely be on the REX Engine since that is what they are moving forward with. Which would be fitting honestly given the namesake. @@johnlawful2272
I remember pretty much the consensus with this one was "oh; that's cool, but where's the PvE only mode?" and then the devs said it was on the way, and put out beta tests with the forced PvP that made a lot of people upset lol I think the devs had an interesting vision for this game; but I also feel like they needed someone to tell them to just focus on ONE aspect of the game, and tune it to perfection. If this was a solely PvE or PvP game, I imagine it would've been a lot better received.
I just left a comment saying the same thing lol. They needed to go all in. Back when gambit came out (yes I'm that old) I thought it was gonna be basically Destiny's focus from there on. A lot of the lore revolves around it anyway lmao. But then they didn't, and so much so they didn't even bother developing it further. It still feels the exact same just shy of a decade later lol
The raids and bosses are one really damn good to play. But what it ruins playing this game or saturated is bc dino survival is PvEvP and having """"forced pvp"""" ruins it which it really doesn't pvp in this game can be fun. What it really mess up is the matchmaking putting you in the same mission path and maps too many times in a row, that's why some called Saturated or shallow, bc the matchmaking isn't allowing you to play other parts of the content that you should be playing, a quiet lot of mission paths sets that are fun and could be experiencing more often, but rather that, the matchmaking decides to always prioritize the low level and you can't do much, not even a 50/50 for get a different map or mission paths, a big error was to make the story attached to the multiplayer. Hope in season 4 they separate this and make this matchmaking more free to select better the content, besides the crossparty that already should be since day one. With matchmaking getting good changes, then we will see more people playing it.
I'm still amused the PVP element that scared people off was more often than not the occasional Dominator, for some it was the timer against the enemy team even if you don't interact with them, but for many people it really was that sometimes a smarter dino came onto your team.
i do not understand people crying about the pvp on the game because it only comes from people that havent played game. if you did you would know that the pvp is trivial and can be avoided by simply choosing to play pve
Me and my friends stuck with this game and really loved the last half. I wish the presentation was better though. Anyways, the bit about Leviathan is so on point. Leviathan is one of the most memorable video game announcers I've ever heard. We still randomly quote him even when playing totally different games. "Summoning raptors. Summoning raptors. Summoning raptors."
14:54 i guess we can now safely say that this issue has been alleviated as of the recent Season 3, where you can now see the exosuit's abilities from the hanger menu
Savage Gauntlet's weekend exclusivity is almost certainly to centralize players towards the main queue during weekdays, which is especially important considering the lower player counts.
Even though is quiet problematic, the mode itself is fun. But is really like, get top 20%, then leave, there isn't much to keep you playing the mode more, specially in solo which is terrible.
im a slightly old warframe vet and generally I hate competitive pvp, but this game is absolutely amazing and did both pve and pvp very well and they blend awesomely and I have tips to give players that only want pve or only want pvp At least if you have game pass I say give it a try..... and keep playing until you finish the story lol
Yeah in Warframe, PvP, like the minigame collection, feels like an afterthought that's just collecting dust at this point. I'm expecting these modes to just get axed from the game to save on server cost or storage space, or something.
I played this game for a good while man like probably 20 plus hours and it still has some of the highest highs I have experienced in recent multiplayer. Running over to the enemy teams payload to blindside them with deadeye's ultimate was incredible. When every piece of exoprimal clicks its phenomenal, it just sucks that it hits that sweet spot like 15% of the time. This game feel like it might be a prime suspect for a 2.0 F2P update in like a year.
Yeah it had really good potential for pop-off moments, and the pure PvE modes just could never deliver that, but as you can see in this thread, generally that's what people who tried the beta wanted. Because they wanted a different game than what this game was basically. Like, I have complex thoughts on the dominator other than I think controlling a dino is pretty cool, but the fact that you'd interact with the other team, deliberately try to sabotage them while balancing defending your own thing was what made the game even remotely interesting. There was no challenge to actually clearing the dinos if it's your team's only focus, the challenge was when your team was spread thin because they were fighting other players.
absolutely hilarious that the devs decided to hide the majority of their game and as a result most people never even heard about it. This is the first time across multiple reviews that I've heard anyone mention more gamemodes etc. unlocking as you progress the story, presumably because reviewers aren't going to waste over five hours or more on repetitive gameplay that has no hint of change. As far as most of the world is concerned, Exoprimal has only one game mode and it's not an especially engaging one.
that is my ONLY criticism for the game. There should be a very clear message in the menu And in the loading screen tips that the game unlocks more stuff if you keep playing..... which now that I say that out loud, when you think about singleplayer games with stories..... that's how it works and it's a given, so no wonder they dont say anything. It's like they expected people would want to keep playing to see more of the story, but honestly I too missed that there was a counter for the next cutscene (which also unlocks more maps and modes) until about 75% through the story
I noticed there wasn't much content at first, but I was also interested in the campaign and liked how the campaign was tied to multiplayer. Then, before I knew it, there were more game modes showing up. Although I got it free on game pass so I wasn't all salty about the price. I'm sure that helped me stay optimistic.
@@MainGoldDragon What makes me laugh a lot with the people who complain that they didn't know they had to keep playing is in the introductory cut scenes they straight up tell you to keep running the missions and do what Leviathan says for now until we find something new. That's also when the bar to the next cut scene happens. During the story they even make jokes and talk about running the missions over and over for Leviathan being annoying/insane.
In my opinion Exoprimals greatest issue was the replayability. I thought the rush to complete the pve sections to get a head start in the pvp section was really fun, and choosing the best exosuits to play based on my teams composition and the types of Dino’s that would be present (for example, Barrage is excellent for tanky dinos like ankylosaurus, meanwhile Kreiger is great for hordes of smaller dinos.). However once I completed the story (which I thought was great) and maxed out my favorite exosuits there wasn’t any reason to play the game. Sure there was the savage gauntlets which I think are really fun, but those are only for two days in a week, and when they’re the only postgame content it can get boring fast. I’ll definitely see if it’s worth it when the title updates are done, but until then there’s other games I’d rather be playing.
I actually played a couple matches of exoprimal but only as Roadblock, I had a couple moments i thought was cool (and i liked the voice, it sounded like he was struggling a bit when the shield was about to go down) but i was really in it for the PvE, and if exoprimal wasnt on gamepass, it would've been even more of a flop edit: I did remember as roadblock actually tanking a dinosaur charging at me with my shield up as it pushes me back, and that. was. epic. I love that so much.
also a full price game with battle passes and microtransactions, I definitely would not have experienced without game pass, even now I wouldn't buy it myself though
Something about the payload race mode is that, it used to be like what you wanted. The city payload mission had both teams start at the coastline and push up to the museum, resulting in a lot of Vigilant and Nimbus harrassing over the coast from atop their payloads, with stuff like Murasama and Zephyr rushing down to push them out from behind tank shields, and then more closer ranged skirmishes as they pass by the openings between the buildings. It was a lot more directly engaging, but then they just outright removed that varient? And then to add insult to injury, made it so that whatever team arrives second on it is forced to be on the coastline giving super easy access for the team ALREADY IN THE LEAD to rush over to their payload and do a cheese teamwipe with Roadblock or Nimbus ults.
If Exoprimal was a single player / offline game, I’d have been totally interested, but it being online only absolutely killed the idea for me, I’ve not even bothered giving it a proper look.
Had a grand time with the game, just felt like after I finished the story there wasn't enough to keep me interested, and the alpha variants (which were post launch content) just weren't enough
Heard you there man, but I loved the story and I was constantly surprised, when you first encounter 1000 of raptors thinking, well that was a surprise and then next time its thousands of flying ones and then thousands of ones falling from the sky, then there a giant mutant t-rex, giant evil exo dude and then giant robot mech its just, holy shit after holy shit, don't have that anymore now, still is fun tho.
Not a lot of people mention it, but I was coasting along watching the hype train as I waited for this to come out. I knew what it was, and I was genuinely excited for what it was. And Capcom did an absolutely horrid job of explaining what it was. So many people didn't know, there were questions everywhere, and the general state was confusion and a total apathy to do one's own research. And for goodness sake, with this hamstring already nipping the game...they came to a preview event with a "battlepass trailer." Instead of, you know, "Hey this is overwatch but with dinosaur killing before the player killing." As excited as I was for the game, I instantly saw that battlepass trailer and went "oh no this is going to be dead fast...am I going to waste $60 on it anyway..?" And I did and it was a ton of fun...but yeah. They messed this up real, real bad. Which is truly a shame because it's such a fun and good game. It just buries itself under it's problems and the absolutely concern-inducing furious drive of the devs/publisher to make this live service.
What kills me too is in many places I've looked (especially the hellhole that is Twitter), I just see either complete praise for the game or utter apathy for it and its devs. I also bought the game when it came out as the premise of A) fighting dinosaurs as well as massive hoards, & B) cool robots (w/ pilots inside) completely sold me, and then proceeded to pump a good 90-100ish hours into it on steam. While I'm taking a break from it right now with the intention to go back in once the MH collab drops, it's just a bit disheartening to me personally that people are in all kinds of camps about it. But I know what I bought into and what kind of place the game was going to end up in based on all the feedback people have been giving since the start.
@@Waffersforever I still hope they can turn it around but I doubt it. I don't think they are putting in enough content to make this game worth playing for an entire 3 month season. They should make the seasons really short like Overwatch does or just give us way more content each season.
The way you describe getting thrown into low level missions reminds me of how picking roulettes in XIV can have similar results, like you'd end up having to play through Sastasha or the Crystal Tower raids for the millionth time... except if roulettes were also the only way to access dungeons you just got, which sounds like a maaaaajor pain in the ass.
i was so excited for this game because being cool mech/robot dudes fighting hordes of dinosaurs together sounds fucking amazing but then i found out it doesn't have singleplayer/offline and it's a full price game with a battle pass and tons of things it begs you to buy. i feel like if this game succeeded, it would've been bad for future monster hunter games specifically
i like how we had the same brain wave here "I want to love this game but i can't" like it's really cool game melee and gunplay is super smooth(it's really hard to balance the gun and melee to be this good) but damn this game is like shoot themselves in the foot huh
In the first trailer we've got time travel, dinosaurs and a redhead protagonist. A lot of us assumed that maybe a Dino Crisis reboot is in the works. A lot of us old fans were upset when it turned out to be an another online shooter
I came searching for this comment. Weird he didn't mention how they basically trolled an entire loyal fandom of one of their games for a campy multiplayer shooter. Not even when he listed Capcom franchises and dodged Dino Crisis...
I personally swore I'd never touch this game because of it. There is a very real demand for Dino Crisis to return, and as a result this felt like a slap in the face. Especially when it was confirmed a new Dino Crisis game was canceled pretty recently. I really feel like they took the remnants from that project and remolded assets they had to fit one of the newest trends.
I have hit max level and max suit level for this game. And I can safely say this has been the best multiplayer game I’ve played in so so long. It’s a shame the inevitable end it will receive but I am glad to have experienced it and I hope there will be more of it whether be a sequel or a new strategy to get more players. I’ll be there playing regardless until the future hits
I agree, Its actually been so much fun to play. Haven't revisited it in a couple months but I'm hoping the game sticks around and improves. It genuinely has so much potential and room for further improvements
I think one of the absolute worse parts of this game is that despite making you sign in with a separate Capcom ID, It's never used for well, anything other than random matchmaking. You can't even party up cross-platform; which includes Steam and Gamepass being separate platforms. It doesn't offer any form of cross-progression between platforms with the Capcom ID either, I had started in the very first day of the game with a friend. We played a few hours and enjoyed it. Next day they convinced someone else to try it out, but they bought it on steam, so both of us ended up having to redo that first day of progression over just to play as a small party. At least they started with cross-platform matchmaking, otherwise that would have absolutely destroyed it out of the gate for PC, at least for Steam. It's definitely fun, but they really messed up a number of key points like you pointed out that makes it a very weird experience. Mind you, not a bad experience, just weird.
Thankfully Capcom has heard some of the issues that people have and have made some changes. Most notably in the upcoming season 4 update in mid April, you'll be able to create a lobby and play those special raid missions. You also get xp and campaign progress while doing it. Which is a big win and something they should of done a long time ago
It's because we've got the hype af dinosaur souls-like coming -soon- at some point hopefully (It's DinoBlade) (Jean Nguyen on youtube has posted some updates)
@@yakkocmnthanks for inspiring me to buy tunic. It was an absolutely amazing game and I ended up getting the plushie. I also inspired 5 of my friends to buy it
I just want lost planet back... People have been begging for the ice age co op starship troopers game forever, or just never heard of it, but genuinely there was so much potential that this game seems to potentially tap at, while not serving some of the people who adored it.
I appreciate and commend them for trying something new bc that's how new genres are born, the reality is not everything sticks but maybe now other developers will take elements from this game to create something in their game that will stick. Great video sir.
thanks for the Christmas present - this game seems really cool and refreshing, would be awesome to see another game like this just more fleshed out- though it is mostly unlikely:(
The "Live Service" thing feels kind of an afterthought, almost. Like this was designed to be a unique PvEvP-type game, with a cohesive story happening in the background, but Capcom got their executive grubby hands on it and added enough microtransactions and bonuses to muddle the meaning of the game. In other news, remember what happened to Battleborn?
Honestly, I love Exoprimal as a fun game I can turn my brain off for a couple of hours. I'm glad you had some fun with it too. I agree, it's not worth $60; but it's on gamepass where the majority of people play it on (which explains the terrible Stream numbers.) Even playing yesterday, matches always queued up quickly and I had very few bots (even with a Mangum mission.) Also, the bots are surprisingly competent. You bring up a lot of valid points and I can tell you really played into the game. I feel like it's just a game to have fun for a bit and then play something else and def not meant to always scratch that live service itch. I truly hope the game sticks around and I'm sure the MH collab and Neo Triceratops will breathe life back into the game. But as it is now, it's hanging in there.
I always tought the game was focused on the PVE experience, so when i tried it with few friend, and we understood the main gamemode was the PvP we just left the game. We try the game few month ago when we learnt we could queue for the "PVE mode" only. But its was just a time trial against the enemy team we loose eevery hope we had. But it was cool to play the big dino
I started playing this game 3 days ago from Yakko's recommendation and i'm thoroughly enjoying it. I really hope more people get into this game cause it deserves a bigger player base. As mentioned its also free on xbox games pass and it is really surpising me at how much i enjoy the story and actually care about the characters a little bit. In reality i know no one is gonna read my message. But if you do, thank you. I hope you give the game a shot.
I played for about 90hrs from release until late august (after the 2nd savage gauntlet event) in which I dropped the game due to not releasing any new gear/updates, then I recently got back to the game a few days ago and now its at season 3 and it feels kind of the same. I really enjoyed the game but grinding the game and having all upgrades and cosmetics before any updates to the game were going to drop kind of leaves you with nothing else to do.
I actually enjoyed Exoprimal! I had 0 intention to buy but it was on gamepass. I expected 3 hours of fun before i'd delete it. I ended up putting in a LOT more time tho. It's impressively well made. I actually loved PvP more than PvE, so i wish we had a mode just for PvP... (Even when you select PvP you always have to do PvE objectives first).
Seems like an interesting test to see what a PvEvP game like this would look like. I'm not under the impression that the fundamental concept of it is what doomed it to fail, but I think this is the sort of thing I'd like to see future games take and innovate/improve upon. Things I'd like to see from new games inspired by this: - All modes unlocked from the beginning, or at least made clear that they will be unlocked the more you play - New modes being unlocked with story progression is a cool novelty, but for a live service PvP game, it would really struggle to bring in new players since the barrier to entry of playing different (potentially more interesting) parts of the game is locked behind a linear progression system - Alongside the whole "new modes no longer being locked behind story progression," being forced to play the levels the lowest level player is on would be done away with as well. Modes would be more standardized and wouldn't inherently be restricted by relative progression with the main story being a separate entity. - Maybe the game would take inspiration from Helldivers 2, where everyone is part of a massive cohesive story, and everyone works to fulfill Major Orders. But instead of Major Orders, you're working to reach your personal next story beat/cutscene. Maybe you get unique dialogue or visuals for whatever part of the story you are at, but at that point it's be less of an experience with others and more of a personal experience that others just happen to be the backdrop of, so I'm leaving that one of the backburner. - Make playing new characters/versions more accessible. While I do think personal progression systems in PvE games are pretty cool, I think a more parallel progression system could work better in a PvEvP game, working to diversify playstyles while still keeping it relatively balanced. - Allow all players to use beeg dino boi, or this new game's equivalent. Maybe make it so that only one teammember can do it at a time or something, but everyone should be allowed to dino it up. - Stylize it, or just reduce the visual clutter because dear god there is a lot going on and its hard to follow. Visual and audio feedback should be made more impactful and distinct, and keep as much stuff off the screen that doesn't immidiately need to be there. Another example from Helldivers, being able to pull up the map when you want, but having it off screen whenever you dont want it/aren't using it. Apply that principal to the stuff n things and maybe itll help. I also just think theres a lotta dinos and a lotta numbers and not enough visual feedback to help make heads or tails of most of it. - Make PvP more prominant and frequent, it shouldn't be a race of optimizing your payload push until you finally meet at the end, it should be a constant back and forth until one of you can pull through. - All major events to play out and maybe even halt each's progression until its taken care of (da flyin dinos mane) - erm. Uhm. Hrmsh. Idk maybe a thousand other things but ill think brainstorming more for this fairytale game some other day. I don't even understand a good chunk of how this game actually functions so im really just spit balling cuz it seems interesting, but i aint throwing 60 bucks and several hours at a, "ok" experience. I just wants someone to be like "shit mane, this could be rlly cool, lets doing something like that, but restructure it without the fundamental flaws"
Why'd it flop? People wanted dino EDF, capcom gave them Overbotched. Pure co-op and story would have been the way to go, it could have been a big deal.
I played this game for a few minutes to an hour but I never dedicated time to it. I got it on Game Pass so even though I was kind of excited it was just whatever to me. Your video tells me why I was interested in the first place but it also lets me know I probably don't need to go back anytime soon. I also have to thank you for pointing out that amazing theme song that I didn't hear my first time so now I get to add that to my playlist
I hadn't heard a thing about Exoprimal since it came out, and yea I would expect it to flop on reviews with how you said the game opens up with more you play since game journalist normally only play a couple of missions before giving a review and move on to the next game. All I heard was how the Dino Crisis community was in such a uproar that Capcom director Takuro Hiraoka had to state in a interview it wasn't apart of the Dino Crisis franchise and I stopped paying attention to the game when they announced that.
Some of the PvE progression style reminds me of Resistance Fall of Man 2's online PvE. There were multiple campaigns that each had 5-6 parts, but what you matched into was random and based on all players' progression in the lobby. Amazing game tho, probably the most underrated FPS ever imo
I expected more PVE than PVP. It is a decent game at the core, but it has immense flaws that keeps it from succeeding. Game looks really good though. I admit, I did play it on Gamepass, so I saved money on it. PVE raid moments really start kicking in after 10 hours or so. Didn't have a lot of variety in game modes. It was a DPS check simulator in the end. Did play really early. Don't know how it is now.
Unrelated to the video (will still be watching it afterwards dw): I know you really liked the idea of good 3d platformers given your video on Spark 3, and I think it might be in your interest to look into "Rollin' Rascal." The demo came out a couple weeks ago and it looks outstandingly promising. You may have already seen it, and you only post once in a blue moon so who knows if you'd ever come back to read a comment like this, but i figured i might as well bring it up anyway.
They marketed it a surprising amount, they failed to tell people that the content they played the first hours was nowhere nearly the full amount of it.... and probably shortening that starting up period really.
@@danxol9588 This, they hiding the rest of the multiplayer modes behind pve progression is one of the dumbest design decisions I've seen. It's like popping a Halo game, going to the matchmaker and seeing only two gameplay modes are available only for the game to tell you that you first have to complete the campaign in order to unlock the rest. They alienated most of their playerbase because of that and they even didn't know there was more to the game because there wasn't a single prompt that stated that was the way to unlock more content. If I were they I would have patched the game so all the pvp modes are available out of the box.
It’s not the marketing man, the game is a mess, it’s not a well made game, sure it has some fun moments and ideas but it’s not a good pvp or pve or pvevp game
This was fantastic. This kind of video is why I subscribed. Even the overall references to Sonic Unleashed, likely because its another weird game with two very different modes smashed together and you don't actually understand how cool it is until you just play the game for a few dozen hours. Even the dinosaur joke you made at the end and the outro, man. Keep doing what you do man. Fan who used to live in Indiana
Exoprimal is good but the main issue isn't anything about the gameplay loop or pvp vs pve. It's the lack of content. The alpha variants of suits weren't available on launch and there were like 3-4 maps.
Game have a decent amount of content which isn't well used by the game. the real problem is the matchmaking put you almost every time in the same mission path and maps too many times in a row (take the first map and doing the exact same thing for the 5th for example) every single time a low level is in your match, and believe me, in season 1 was worse this type of saturation. Aside of that, since launch we had 6 maps, as 1 added with season 2, but usually you just see 3 maps, especially the first 2, again, thanks to the matchmaking. Obs: sorry for the bad text, hope it did turn out to understand better now.
@@NotAGreatPlayer man you should change your name to not a great english speaker because I am trying to decipher what you are attempting to say but I have no idea.
"Yah know, the game has it's flaws but it sounds pretty fun if you're willing to look past it. Maybe I'll get some friends together and give it a sho-" *$60 price tag* No, absolutely not. This game can die.
Yeah, for a lot of folks its "You can have that F2P economy garbage, or you can charge full price, not both." and I generally agree with the sentiment.
I think this game needs a mission selection option, i just wanna play the pve raids (i also think it's funny seeing adult men cry about needing to sign in)
I was super tempted to get this game a while back when I saw the raptor cascade down the tower, then I looked at the steam player numbers and decided against it. If they game had more players, I would have definitely gotten it because this is totally my thing.
i played more than hundred hours in this game, loved it, loved the cheesyness, love the dynamic fights, love the exo design, shame that it did not fight theyr players
"Imagine being invited to a banquet and when you arrive there isn't much food set out and what you do try is good if not a bit average. Still being a bit hungry you go for seconds and find that the attendants have set out more dishes that turn out to be better than what was originally out. Curious to see if it'll happen again, you go for thirds only to find that the attendants have hidden all the good food because someone new had showed up. On a completely unrelated note, have you heard of Exoprimal?"
This game is one I found extremely fun to play but I was hoping to find the next EDF for me and my friends and the biggest issue is that I have gamepass and they don't. I played and had a good bit of fun on my own but without a consistent group, I tend to drop pvp games decently fast and even though I did play longer than I usually do, the progress to unlock new game modes is so slow that I unfortunately hardly reached most of them. Maybe I'll play again, but I just feel sad knowing that I will likely never see this game at full glory with my friends.
True, most hate comments I see are from people who either hate it just to hate it, or from people who didn't even really give it a chance (and by that I mean like, watch some lore and fight the first boss).
I have +100 Hours in this game and I find it a damn shame that the game's doing so poorly but I absolutely get why: PvEvP is generally a weird balance to strike and thus far the pure PvE people were hoping for doesn't exist yet and thus far all the new Mechs we got are alternative versions of the regular ones, with more to come and no new original one in sight. I hope they miraculously manage to make a comeback, They planned cross invites and custom games by the over next Season (with the coming one starting January that adds MH crossover content like a new Map and even Rathalos as a boss) but I fear it might be too late by then. It seems like a badly mismanaged game that had weird progression but a really cool story, a massively fun base gameplay but an odd system in terms of the PvEvP. It's great but flawed and I wish it the best because damn: capcom cooked with this but they forgot the Bread and butter. Also yeah Leviathan is hilarious in his delivery and me and my friend quote that mad AI every now and then.
I loved how this game played so much. All the characters were super fun, and the raids were awesome but the PVP was just....why? Also savage gauntlet the only purely cooperative PVE challenge is locked to only certain days and you have to beat the story to unlock it. So good luck playing it with your friends. You just introduced to the game.
I honestly really love the game, its a combo between mostly pve with a bit of pvp at the end, bit like destiny 2's gambit mixed with l4d2 versus, its weird and nothing is like it
this game is a very good time, but the only gripe i have with it is that even when there's only one person in the lobby who didn't get to a certain progression you'll do what they have, so you almost never see the new stuff until you get a lobby filled with only people who would have been able to be at your progression. So it feels like a back in forth of easy boring matches and interesting challenging one.
It also makes it so that more experienced players _hate_ being matched with newbies, simply because of how boring the limitations are going to be. Either they'll overhaul that system or... well, it was a pity they went with this.
I remember hearing about this. Check out Earth Defense Force if you don't already know about it or no one's mentioned it to you. It's kind of a similar thing. But you get giant ants pouring out the sky by UFOs. Also the redheaded woman might've been a nod to Regina from Dino Crisis. Another Capcom series about time travel and dinosaurs. And the third game's in space!
hello! here’s another video about a weird game you probably haven’t played! thanks for watching my stuff, and i hope you have a lovely holiday season. (also i tried holding the mic this time, not sure if i’ll stick with it but i’ve been in an experimenting mood lately)
nice video, would you consider trying to learn to play the piano
Thanks for the video, Yakko! You have been my favorite content creator for years now
@BOOMBO11 im secretly hoping this is a gentle nudge to Yakko that there isnt a proper appreciation to ProjectMoon games. It's a vague, naive but genuine hope.
i played and agree. fun game, rapidly became boring and seems useless to play (similar to those resident evil multiplayer games)
exo primal has no content only 1 game mode and fihgting bosses (the actual fun part of the game) is random and you can go hours without seeing one. and the pvp can be fun but very unbalanced as they focused balance for the pve and you also have to slog through the same repetitious pve to get to the pvp and then you might not even get the type of pvp you enjoy and most of the pvp is also pve (nothing quite as frustrating as losing a 1v1 pvp encounter cus you had 2 raptors chewing on you and they didn't)
so conclusion:
if you enjoy pvp too bad you have to do pve to get to it
if you like the pve great but you will run out of content fast
if you like to fight giant raid bosses good luck ever getting the boss fights to roll
fixes that would get me to play again:
they need to add a matchmaking selection that lets you enter queue with players of >x level
and a mode that is just boss fights like i wouldn't even complain if they made it random what boss you get but just a mode that can only roll the boss fights would be amazing
(same thing with pvp)

Hello friend. Have you heard about this game called "Evolve"? Hmm actually never mind, I said nothing!
@@__-be1gk that's the reason people still like tanks the vehicles

I think I have 45 minutes checked into the game. I wish I could've got a refund.
This
I wanted this to be EDF but with Dinosaurs but they just had to glue the PVP onto it
Not really. What killed the game was having like 3 maps on launch and not releasing any new content
@@yakkocmn Making a completely different game with the same design and gameplay would be better.
The industry has a lot of PVP games already.
Yeah, the problem I had with Exo was that there was genuinely a funny and campy story going on, but all that Live Service PvP stuff was getting in the way. I would've liked a PvE hero shooter.
Preach. PvE is best and isn't pay to win.
Why do one thing well when you can do 7 things subpar. I wonder if devs are trying to get their games on as many for you pages as possible, so the more tags they can put the more people they can reach 😑
Prepare for managed democracy
Fun fact: the pure pve is basically gambit from destiny. It suffers from a lot of the same issues.
I am glad to see a game try what gambit did all those years ago but it seems like the idea is a lot touchier than anybody thought and is incredibly difficult to execute. I have hope for these ideas in the future though.
Ah yes a game bassed on the worst game mode in destiny that's how to sell something
@@The_Genigambit is at least somewhat interesting and it felt like your or your teams actions matter

Main reason why I refused to play this game
I remember pretty much the consensus with this one was "oh; that's cool, but where's the PvE only mode?" and then the devs said it was on the way, and put out beta tests with the forced PvP that made a lot of people upset lol
I think the devs had an interesting vision for this game; but I also feel like they needed someone to tell them to just focus on ONE aspect of the game, and tune it to perfection.
@@danxol9588
Well, if I don't want PvP, I don't want any player controlled dino attacking me. It's that simple.
i do not understand people crying about the pvp on the game because it only comes from people that havent played game. if you did you would know that the pvp is trivial and can be avoided by simply choosing to play pve
All I wanted is a Dino Crisis remake. That is all.
You preformed sub-optimally in your last match
"Summoning Carnataurus....Summoning Carnataurus."
"Summoning Neo T-Rex swarm."

farewell durban
14:54 i guess we can now safely say that this issue has been alleviated as of the recent Season 3, where you can now see the exosuit's abilities from the hanger menu
Savage Gauntlet's weekend exclusivity is almost certainly to centralize players towards the main queue during weekdays, which is especially important considering the lower player counts.
Even though is quiet problematic, the mode itself is fun.
But is really like, get top 20%, then leave, there isn't much to keep you playing the mode more, specially in solo which is terrible.
As a Warframe player, I was put off from trying by the PvP. And I bet the people who like PvP were put off by almost all of it being PvE.
im a slightly old warframe vet and generally I hate competitive pvp, but this game is absolutely amazing and did both pve and pvp very well and they blend awesomely and I have tips to give players that only want pve or only want pvp
At least if you have game pass I say give it a try..... and keep playing until you finish the story lol
Yeah in Warframe, PvP, like the minigame collection, feels like an afterthought that's just collecting dust at this point. I'm expecting these modes to just get axed from the game to save on server cost or storage space, or something.
I actually really like it, I'm mostly pve but love a touch of pvp and this works for me
I played this game for a good while man like probably 20 plus hours and it still has some of the highest highs I have experienced in recent multiplayer.
I hope so cuz your 100% right, when exoprimal hits, it HITS. But it only hits 15% of the time.
So it's a game for people who really, *REALLY* hate dinosaurs.
absolutely hilarious that the devs decided to hide the majority of their game and as a result most people never even heard about it.
I bought and refunded the game twice, and this is the first time i heard about new game modes to unlock
Most refundable multiplayer game
that is my ONLY criticism for the game.
Thank You! This is exactly it!
I actually played a couple matches of exoprimal but only as Roadblock, I had a couple moments i thought was cool (and i liked the voice, it sounded like he was struggling a bit when the shield was about to go down)
but i was really in it for the PvE, and if exoprimal wasnt on gamepass, it would've been even more of a flop
edit: I did remember as roadblock actually tanking a dinosaur charging at me with my shield up as it pushes me back, and that. was. epic. I love that so much.
also a full price game with battle passes and microtransactions, I definitely would not have experienced without game pass, even now I wouldn't buy it myself though
ah I see you stopped a triceratops' charge! it's an awesome feeling. You should have tried more classes too though.
@MainGoldDragon it's a triceratops 😭
@@peterhiser7883 bruh aint no way I actually said rhinoceros 💀

Something about the payload race mode is that, it used to be like what you wanted. The city payload mission had both teams start at the coastline and push up to the museum, resulting in a lot of Vigilant and Nimbus harrassing over the coast from atop their payloads, with stuff like Murasama and Zephyr rushing down to push them out from behind tank shields, and then more closer ranged skirmishes as they pass by the openings between the buildings. It was a lot more directly engaging, but then they just outright removed that varient? And then to add insult to injury, made it so that whatever team arrives second on it is forced to be on the coastline giving super easy access for the team ALREADY IN THE LEAD to rush over to their payload and do a cheese teamwipe with Roadblock or Nimbus ults.
when you said dinosaur overwatch I was hoping you played as the dinosaurs in pvp,,, now im sad
well technically ONE person gets to play as the dinosaur
If Exoprimal was a single player / offline game, I’d have been totally interested, but it being online only absolutely killed the idea for me, I’ve not even bothered giving it a proper look.
Had a grand time with the game, just felt like after I finished the story there wasn't enough to keep me interested, and the alpha variants (which were post launch content) just weren't enough
This, really enjoyed playing through and beating the story but after that it was straight crickets.
Someone in the Capcom office after Exo-pPrimal flops: Told you we should've gone with making Dino Crisis but, no, we need to make our own Overwatch.
Its not trying to be overwatch, so I don't get the comparison.
@@oddbunchyeet28 It's because young people didn't play the first DotA so they don't know that all of this is just Warcraft 3 heroes in another genre.
They should make the seasons really short like Overwatch does or just give us way more content each season.
you absolutely nailed it. it's the same reason no mans sky suffered on release too
The way you describe getting thrown into low level missions reminds me of how picking roulettes in XIV can have similar results, like you'd end up having to play through Sastasha or the Crystal Tower raids for the millionth time... except if roulettes were also the only way to access dungeons you just got, which sounds like a maaaaajor pain in the ass.
i was so excited for this game because being cool mech/robot dudes fighting hordes of dinosaurs together sounds fucking amazing
but then i found out it doesn't have singleplayer/offline and it's a full price game with a battle pass and tons of things it begs you to buy. i feel like if this game succeeded, it would've been bad for future monster hunter games specifically
i like how we had the same brain wave here

I personally swore I'd never touch this game because of it. There is a very real demand for Dino Crisis to return, and as a result this felt like a slap in the face. That Vocal theme from Casey Edwards single handedly made this game memorable. God it’s a banger.
I played this on launch while i was recovering from a broken arm and I absolutely loved it. It was a blast to play.
I played it religiously and streamed it for about 2-3 weeks.
Thankfully Capcom has heard some of the issues that people have and have made some changes.

Yakko, everytime: So Why do I like game? well its simple, Have you heard music?
*Montage to epic game soundtrack*
Things I'd like to see from new games inspired by this:
- All modes unlocked from the beginning, or at least made clear that they will be unlocked the more you play
- New modes being unlocked with story progression is a cool novelty, but for a live service PvP game, it would really struggle to bring in new players since the barrier to entry of playing different (potentially more interesting) parts of the game is locked behind a linear progression system
- Alongside the whole "new modes no longer being locked behind story progression," being forced to play the levels the lowest level player is on would be done away with as well.
- All major events to play out and maybe even halt each's progression until its taken care of (da flyin dinos mane)
- erm. Uhm.
Preach
Amazing game tho, probably the most underrated FPS ever imo
holy shit i remember that mode god i would kill for a new Resistance game or remake
Don't know how it is now.
it is primarily pve tho...
I absolutely love this game, even the PVP side. I just feel like Capcom didn't really do a good job marketing it and it's suffering as a result.
You should try the game it's blatantly ripping off; Warframe!
@@devastatheseeker9967irony. Do you even grammar?
@@PeopleRTheProblem It's easier to understand what I wrote than what they did
@@PeopleRTheProblem Also it's Ironic to call out my grammar without capitalizing the first letter of your sentence too.
It’s because we didn’t want Exoprimal, we wanted Dino Crisis.
I love this game, one of the most fun and unique multyplayer games I have played. Looking forward to Season 3 and Season 4.
Casey Edwards did make some of the scores for this game, so music checks out.
"you can see what your abilities do" ignores the training area that you can play even locked characters to get an idea for.
At the very least he's pretty much the only reviewer to actually beat the game XD
I mean hell even when you go I to the menu of one of the suits on the top right there's a clickable box
I completely forgot this game existed
Fair
"Yah know, the game has it's flaws but it sounds pretty fun if you're willing to look past it. Maybe I'll get some friends together and give it a sho-"
*$60 price tag*
No, absolutely not. This game can die.
Yeah, for a lot of folks its "You can have that F2P economy garbage, or you can charge full price, not both." and I generally agree with the sentiment.
So listen, that ending gave me goosebumps, yeah, the guy with rose tinted sunglasses too, yakko ending this year with this video would be perfection
Everytime I see someone chill looking at this game, I ask them, "What do you think this could have become if it was a EDF like game?"
I think this game needs a mission selection option, i just wanna play the pve raids (i also think it's funny seeing adult men cry about needing to sign in)
I was super tempted to get this game a while back when I saw the raptor cascade down the tower, then I looked at the steam player numbers and decided against it. If they game had more players, I would have definitely gotten it because this is totally my thing.
that's an L decision
I have never in my life been sold a game to on its flaws. You are a genius yak. And then passing it off to the games soundtrack. You are wild.
i played more than hundred hours in this game, loved it, loved the cheesyness, love the dynamic fights, love the exo design, shame that it did not fight theyr players
The game is soo interesting, I wish more people played it :)
They would if it actually were soo interesting.
That ending was epic.
It really sucks that nobody seems to be able to make a good dinosaur game that has staying power.
Yakko video on Christmas Eve? Lets goooo!
Is that the riddler voice actor as laviathan? What!
This game is criminally underrated and it deserves so much more. Its such a joy to play!
Yep 100% true
True, most hate comments I see are from people who either hate it just to hate it, or from people who didn't even really give it a chance (and by that I mean like, watch some lore and fight the first boss).
Omega strikers is soo good and I can't get over its death
5 hours is alot to ask if the promise is "Trust me, it will get good soon"
I have +100 Hours in this game and I find it a damn shame that the game's doing so poorly but I absolutely get why:
PvEvP is generally a weird balance to strike and thus far the pure PvE people were hoping for doesn't exist yet and thus far all the new Mechs we got are alternative versions of the regular ones, with more to come and no new original one in sight.
So instead of a Dino crisis remake they gave us an overwatch clone. Yikes.
"Yikes" indeed
I loved how this game played so much. All the characters were super fun, and the raids were awesome but the PVP was just....why?
Also savage gauntlet the only purely cooperative PVE challenge is locked to only certain days and you have to beat the story to unlock it. So good luck playing it with your friends. You just introduced to the game.
Showing TOTK footage while talking about life changing experiences is one of the best jokes I've ever seen.
Just wanted to add that the vocal theme “Exohuman” at the end was made by Cassey Edwards, THE SAME GUY WHO MADE THE VOCAL SONGS FROM DEVIL MAY CRY 5
And the third game's in space!
thank you yakko for introducing one of my new favorite songs ever from a video game
Yakko not talking about the game's music until the last minute of the video... Almost got scared for a moment there.
