so useful, this is exactly what happen to me! For others watching and reading this, I used an plastic card instead of the metal screwdriver that he used and it opened up just fine without any scratches! I then used a liner between the pliers and mouse to bend the casing back to also prevent scratches. Turned out perfectly fine with hardly any scratches!

Awesome! Did as I've mentioned using plastic card - zero scratches and mouse like new now

Mine too. Apparently someone dropped my magic mouse from the table but didn’t tell me. Thank you for helping finding out the issue and making this video. I noticed there’s a bend and tried to widen it using knife carefully as suggested in one of the comments. Now it works!

Many thanks. I had exactly the same problem and cause of the problem, but instead of taking it apart I just used a kitchen knife to twist it back to shape. The gap was not the same all the way around. No need to take it apart.

I had the same problem of dropping the mouse - hit a hard floor on the right hand corner. After watching your video I simply slid a screwdriver between the back and front cover edges and eased the aluminium down. It worked! There was no need to remove the bottom from the top. I took me less than a minute to fix.Thank you so much for working out how fix the problem.

Thanks for the help!!! I dropped mine this morning and researched TH-cam. I pried it apart with my finger nails working around the edges and opened perfectly. As per your video I was able to fixed it. I also found some foreign particles---cleaned it and now working perfectly. Thanks again for the help, Jack B

@Jackburton5809 Thanks for your comment about removing foreign particles--- It made me consider that this is the reason that my mouse was not moving the cursor on the first try. I had to use several swipes across the mousepad to get the cursor to go where I wanted it. I just forcefully blew air into the little tracking light under the mouse, and, Voilà! It works again!

Had the same problem, and your video helped a lot, thanks!
For those who have decided to take the risk of opening up your Magic Mouse 2, just be extra careful as mentioned to avoid breaking any plastic components that might be helping to hold the upper and lower part of the mouse together. I broke one such component on the left side, but it is fortunately not affecting the usability of the mouse.

Thank you so much! I dropped my mouse from the 2nd floor and the right click wasn’t working at all. Didn’t have to open it up, just lifted it with a small screwdriver and adjusted the part with pliers. Left a dent but what’s important is that it works now!

I had the same issue. Dropped it on the ground due to carelessness, and the right click wasn't working properly. Though mine isn't 100% back to normal, it's certainly much better than it was after I dropped it. Thanks friend!

Thank you! I didn't even have to take mine apart to fix it with this method! I was able to wedge the edge of a knife in the opening of the right-click and bend it down ever so slightly. That did the trick! And no visible damage to the mouse! Thanks again for risking your 100 euros, it saved me 100 dollars 🙏🏻 😄

My kids' mouse as same as your mouse problem, i think the dropped the mouse and the right click exactly can't work and also a bit dented at the right click, so i opened the mouse like what you show, and use a metal letter opener to push the lower metal part of the mouse, and IT IS WORK! you save me S$99 for another mouse!!! Thanks a lot of your video.

I'm not going to say this didn't help, because I just watched until you opened it and not a second further. But in all honesty, it reassured me that if I did open it, it wouldn't be permanently broken. All I did was pry open the forward-facing side and put it right back and BOOM! Either way, good video, 10/10.

It looks like there is no internal/mechanical left and right click, just the one little switch with the bright mechanical button beside the metallic spring bar. Left and right clicks are detected by the touching sensors under the upper part of the mouse, i.e. by the position of your fingers.
Our problem was that the little switch didn’t „click“ any more, its button just moved within a smaller range. This was not caused by any dropping or dirt, but by wear.

I thought this wasn't my case. I've never dropped my mouse, it seemed to be ok, so I was looking for another solution. I found that there is no "right click" on this mouse to be exact. It's just one click (one physical button) and "right click" is simply a click with a touch on the right side of the panel. So I came back, followed your advice, I bent it a little and BINGO ;) Thanks a lot.

Thanks, I fixed mine which had the same symptom but a different issue. When I clicked on the top right, the bottom left would lift up, therefore not applying any force on the button which is at the top left. Couldn't see any damage which is responsible for this laxity. Closed it again and put a bit of stickytape over the bottom left between the casing and surface. That is enough to hold the buttom left, so that the top right can apply pressure to the button which is on the top left. Genius engineering but maybe the casing connections could be a little stronger :)

Thank you! I had the exact same problem and was able to bend out the front with a flathead screwdriver without even popping it open thanks to your video

i had an issue of the left click working intermittently, took it apart and found a lot of grime one the left side. it seems to be working better now. thanks for the hint on how to take the thing apart.
