    How long should it take to charge? I have had a Mac for six months and this is the first time I have had to charge it?? It’s to the point where there is no mouse on the screen so I am not able to check if it’s charging. I love apple products but this is a flaw!!!! Why wouldn’t apple put the charger point at the top of the mouse so it can be used while charging???WTF!!

    Oh my lord. I spent hours with Apple support trying to get this connected. Deleting the plot files. Then I came across your video. Got my iPhone torch out and sure enough there was a small bit of dirt. Removed it as you recommended and plugged it in. Sure enough it has showed up on my MacBook when on the charger. A very very valuable video. Thank you so much

    Thanks! Fixed! Yes, you can't see if your mouse is charging but it is. As someone advised, below, if you can get into Preferences (I'm using my old generic mouse) you can check on your icon for your Mac mouse and it says "Connected - Charging".

    It's so sad. I'm back here a year later as a result of getting a new Magic Mouse and the same thing happened. The lightning cable will not go into the mouse port on the mouse! I don't know....maybe a different kind of mouse would be better or cheaper? I do have a cabled mouse, but you have to manually scroll to scroll. I may try cleaning it first?

      @@Amber-pd4ld mine is also dead and will not charge. Had it 3 weeks, unbelievably dumb design if this is the reason why. It also really pisses me off that you cant leave it olugged in as i always forget to turn it off when i leave my computer and when i return its always dead. Either put the cord at the top or put a sleep timer on the mouse apple?!?! Are they thick?

      @@DanielS10291 I think you can try a different cable for it to charge and see if it works? Because until now, it’s impossible to get it to fit 100%

    Interesting...... I'm back again a year later and I just paid attention to when you plugged the cable in. didn't know the cable should go in further. I thought when you hear the click your in. I'm going to look for something to get the dust out of the port. However, I wonder what the life expectancy of the battery is. I'm not sure, because this is the second MM2 I have. Thanks.

    I am finding out that people are just lazy nowadays. REPLACE instead of fix mentality! I took it to apple and the girl took it to the back room. They looked at the port under a microscope to determine it was bent inside. The girl showed me a new mouse for 80 or 90 bucks. I said I didn't want to buy another one. This was a warranty replacement and I didn't like that you can't recharge it while using it so no I don't want to buy a new one. Then she told me about another store in that mall where I could get another mouse. Geez, in the olden days most businesses would have opened it up and bent it back. The particular time I was there their weren't many people at all to say they were too busy. I might give it a try before I replace it. I have a corded one that I can use for now. Thanks

    Great job and good eyes.
    btw is the battery in these replaceable? After many years of being in the market, this is time to look into the replacement of batteries and I hat when manufacturers make a product only to be sold as new and die permanently due to something very simple s.a. aged batteries.

    Hi,
    I followed your instructions and had to really push down with the tool that you were using to remove fluff/dirt which was inside my mouse. I almost gave up as I was worried about the internal part may get damaged in the process. Anyway I kept going and found dirt that had built up over the last 4 years which I managed to remove and now the mouse is charging. The one point that really stood out was my charger cable was not going all the way in so I kept prodding and removed so much dirt/fluff. Thank you for your video as I was going to fork out for another mouse.

      Im in the same boat. Have you checked if your cabel pins are clean? Did you check if the charger works?
      If all fails the issue could be a faulty battery inside the mouse. That would need replacing.

      Frankly I couldn’t be more disappointed with a product. I paid top dollar to not have to worry about this shit, i barley used it at all and now i need it and it wont even charge. I have the lightening symbol but nothing is happening, this is just pathetic. Just like apples EarPods that broke just before the warranty, not because of misuse but just because they manufacture shit.

    • @elplandedan
      @elplandedan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@liamnicholls7106 Maybe this could help you, it happened me twice: sometimes when the battery is 0 discharged, connecting it to the charging cable is not enough to "break the limit" and start charging. Then you have to take it to someone who has equipment for electronic repair, and they can manually give it that minimum charge, which is at a specific voltage, different from the one it receives through the port where the cable is connected. Moral of the story: never let it get completely drained.

    As a tech repair person you should know about the product before you attempt a repair. Otherwise it makes you look incompetent in the public eye!
    No there is no charge indicator on the magic mouse 2. you have to go into the preferences on the Mac under the mouse and you can then see the level of the charge.
