  • This is one of my favorite interviews with a Heritage Villager (who died at the beginning of COVID). David was a native of Newtown, but worked and lived in the Middle East and Europe for most of his adult life. Upon returning to the US in 2015, he bought a 1929 Model A Ford and after extensive repairs,, decided to drive it across the US on Route 6 (Provincetown, MA to California) to "look for America".

Most enjoyable interview. Since I drive a vintage car as well I share the experiences with David of meeting people who want to talk about their history with VWs which is my vintage auto .

Sad that he has passed. It’s a shame he didn’t contact and become a member of a Model A club before his journey. There is a vast network of knowledgeable Model A owners that would have been glad to put him up and help him with his A and it would probably only needed repaired one time to be reliable for his road trip.

he did say at 35:12 that he was a member of the Model A club, and he mapped out members near Route 6, and they helped him.
