These are rare as they reduced spec 340im that replaced some 330d orders, prior to BMW pulled out of the UK Authorities market all together over the 3.0d issues. The outside is basically 320 mpsort with 340 exhaust
Someone on my street has the identical M340i even down to the colour. Due to BMW refusing to provide any British police force with 330D's are alot replacing their traffic cars with straight 6 petrol Turbos which offer the same but use far more petrol over the diesel 3 series. For the traffic coppers this must an improvement even if the BMW straight six diesels are fantastic.
BMW no longer supply UK police cars as a result of the N57 fires even the Public can no longer order a brand new 3 series with a diesel unit in the UK, my grandads recently got a Tesla but he did have a 435d beforehand I love the 6 cylinder diesel BMWs can get some really good mpg out of them.
Lovely car and normally a decent hob done with it however I hope that sun strip doesn’t come more than 10mm into the swept area of the wipers…. We can’t have one rule for one and another for everyone else can we 🤔

BMW will keep top speed limited to 155mph as per retail car. They are homologated for higher speed. Similarly Volvo police cars/SUVs are limited as per manufacturer spec.

Saw this car Wednesday morning pulled up behind me on the pumps on the Esso on the A45 3 police in it pulled someone not long after pulling out on the A45

If an unmarked car finds itself in that situation, it should call for a marked vehicle to come to make the stop (in their presence, or otherwise). Unmarked cars are (obviously) very useful for police (& I’m not saying they shouldn’t have them at all) but public safety should come first & foremost. Anybody can slap some blue lights on a car & that’s probably enough to get most people to pull over (especially at night).
If you’re unsure of the legitimacy of the vehicle attempting to stop you , you should just dial 999 , let them know what road you are on and ask them to verify . But you do raise a valid point for sure .

There’s a prescribed limit for several drugs, cannabis being one! Test +ve & you’re getting a sobriety test & bloods drawn. Refuse & you can lose your licence!
I hated the pot holes with the low profile tyres, my 435D X Drive was quicker that this one and had more torque at 630 Nm, it costs over £500 per alloy to replace due to the potholes, Sadly it has gone as it was super quick. I now have a more refined 2024 Ford Ranger Wildtrak 500 Nm that laughs at the potholes and is more comfier than a BMW but sadly not the acceleration. Would I trade less acceleration and speed for more comfort and the ability to travel any road and terrain plus floods in this run down country, definitely YES.
The vehicle is prosecuting us, huh? I routinely drive 100+ on Northants roads. Never been caught once. Love my 340. Thanks for the plate number. Added to my list of local plate numbers.

British Transport Police are using Teslas, apparently the drivers absolutely hate them.

What's the difference between unmarked and covert, then..? I can usually spot an unmarked car, there are giveaways if you know what to look for.

Havent been tuned for years uprated brakes and electrics was all they had. In 90s there was so running as with kit and old light bars they were slower

I might be old fashioned but I think you are better off passing the test in a manual and then you have the option to drive both.
