What i love about this channel, is that Bjorn is not only is looking at the design, but also at the (everyday) practical use of EVs. This video is a good example and also the 1000km challenge, plus all the data that is collected by him and freely shared (via the Excel file). Bjorn delivers tons of useful insights for consumers and EV manufacturers. Hats off!
in Denmark it was a white G6, with a white interior. super cool! But the seller said that the on the European market would not have LiDAR. 99% sure G6 will be the replacement for my ioniq 5 when it is replaced in the autumn.
"Transport headless people." 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Info from Xpeng Denmark is that the interior (seats) and the wheels (20”) are standard on all models. The differences will be only batteries and 2 motors for Performance.
I was waiting so long for this car to come to Europe! Am excited for your tests!
Xpeng is very good on voice control intelligent system. If you speak Chinese you can talk to Xiaopi (the car VR assistant) and tell her how to adjust everything, what light or window to be lowered. It will recognize if the person talking to her is seating on the rear seat being right, left or middle. So there is really no need of so many switches and buttons in the car.
Looking forward to Bjorn’s range tests. G6 is insanely efficient.
The G6 with white interior is gorgeous..I saw it in Shanghai showroom.. well built sporty design..closest fight will be the Enyaq and Cupra Tavascan..depending on prices.
I love your videos, but can you add the drag coefficient to the list of specs you share about these cars? Keep up with the amazing work!! ❤
The lid on the lid shows that they have a strong eye for aesthetics and detail. So do the retractable cup holders in the rear armrest. A commodity that even European luxury brands don't offer. Well executed.
Headrest can be removed because the front seats can be laid flat so that you can watch a movie from the back seats. Alternatively, you could fold the back seats forward to turn the trunk into a bed.
For the interior lights touch the lights in the roof :-).
very promising 👍
You talk about the price, but we have some data now, and while price is "a bit below Model Y" as you say, in Tesla you have to pay a lot for self driving, while it's included in Xpeng, that makes price very different depending on what you need
We don't get any of this stuff in the US so we are somewhat limited in EV choices. Need to wait for Rivian to bring out their new models.
Thanks Bjorn. I can't wait until you get your hands on this in the real world. Be well.
13:42 honestly wish more cars had this.
Is the front passenger door a different color to the rear ? Seems like front and rear came from 2 different paint shops.
Literally came to the comments to see if others noticed the same
Yes I also noticed this unless it was something to do with the lighting.
Same difference on other videos. Maybe was painted post transport to Norway in rush due to damage?
Xpeng told me that this car is pre-production and therefore the paint is not perfect.
@@bjornnyland I call BS on them. They've had it since July 2023 in production. And they send a preproduction crappy colour one to a new continent? Or they're amateurs.
Trunk space seems comparable to Ioniq 5. Same for the rear seats.
Finally some good looking rims. My G9 is a beautiful car and I love driving it but the rims on the standard and long range are just embarrassing (kindest word I can think of)
Xbjorn
When the new Porsche Macan was unveiled a couple of weeks back I thought Porsche copied this G6!
Next to this Xpeng, Nio’s sub-brands Onvo and Firefly are definitely on my radar for very good and cheap ev’s. Onvo will also have battery swap
Those are new brands to me. Do they sell them outside of China too?
@@David_Polak Onvo in China in late 24, Firefly (will get marketing name) in Europe from 2025
NIO is not received well in Europe because swap is sparse. Without swap, XPeng is far more efficient than NIO and better value.
@@enigmatum That’s because NIO is a premium brand. It’s a heavy car. Just like a fully optioned Audi, BMW or Mercedes. NIO’s Onvo and Firefly will weight a lot less and be more efficient. Battery swap system is priceless and will be the future. Will not be suprised Xpeng will be able to swap too in the near future when NIO will standardize it.
@@namanverdu G9 is a premium car. Check their prices in Europe. Gets 100km more range than ES6 in Bjorn’s tests. Pretty much same size and battery. Swap is crutch for bad engineering. No XPeng is absolutely not interested in swap.
I think Xpeng has the best technology for the money and will catch on quickly with new customers.
I have owned the standard range version (LFP cells, 470km WLTP, RWD) for over half a year now, and my biggest complaints about this car are:
1. It lacks a frunk or glove box.
2. The driving dynamics are not as impressive as I anticipated.
Overall, I am happy with it. The efficiency is outstanding (possibly better than the Model Y), the charging speed is excellent, and it offers huge passenger and trunk space. The XNGP (FSD equivalent) is extremely convenient and it comes included in the car price.
What is the charging speed and time at a Supercharger or any other 400V charger?
@@dixikloos5352 i have the lfp version, from what i experienced, on a supercharger, for example xpeng 480kw station, it peeks at 180KW and averages at 140-150kw, for a normal 120kw 400v charger, it can keep full speed till 80%. at winter it'll take much longer to pre-heat the battery. the ncm version can get up to over 220kw and an average of 150-180 kw if not limited by the charger.
Well, it looks like model y, but in my opinion, it has a better looking!
I bought a G6 this January, the basic version, cost me 195K RMB, or about 27K USD.
I did not know about the button in the charge port until I saw this video.
Had also being using the phone APP to control the charge port all these times.
What are your impressions and where are you living?
@@CapitanHarlockisbackIt felt great.
But that could be because I used to drive a 12-year-old Toyota RAV4, so I never experienced all the newer functions like the auto parking, assisted driving, phone APP control, voice control before.
I live in China.
What is the charging speed and time at a Supercharger or any other 400V charger?
@@dixikloos5352 10%-80% in about 15 minutes on their own 800V chargers.
But I usually just charge overnight at home cause it's cheaper.
Side mirrors are adjustable from the driving wheel buttons, as on the G9. The inner lights are activated by pressing on the right place, but strange that English voice commands did not understand you wanted to light them up.
Didn’t logo lights stop working when you closed the bonnet?! Haha
I am very interested in the charging performance of the „small“ battery…
Close to a Macan look 😁
It looks like a mix of Model Y and Kona
pricing will be interesting!!
❤❤❤
Når får du prøvekjørt denne?
What is the charging speed and time at a Supercharger or any other 400V charger?
I think I sat in this exact car today. At xpeng barcode
I see some Kona vibes on this car...😊
But does it void warranty?! ;)
Yes, MS and MX are no longer buyers Choice, M3 follows them already, next will be MY. Too many issues don’t get fixed. It can not even autopark in 2024, so far behind in driver assistance systems. That is an easy Target for Chinese carmakers. They can cheap as well but with working rain sensors😄.
There has been so many Model Y killers already. Y looks terrible but still no one mastered the efficiency and interior space better…
Maybe... Maybe just bcoz those real killers are blocked outside your country🤣
G6 does not have LiDAR in eu. autopilot is camera based only
It does have radar and ultrasonic sensors though.
@@Jajalaatmaar not in denmark🤷🏻♂️
@@rasmusjensen9146 All Xpeng cars have radar and ultrasonic sensors in addition to camera's. Lidar is indeed skipped, but lidar is no radar.
Only Tesla's have nothing but camera's.
This is a Chinese car right? I expect them to remove Lidar from it for the European version. Also no spoiler on the Performance model in Europe i've read.
Why is that?
Does EU have laws against Lidar?
The interior looks a bit cheap. Especially the hard plastic phone chargers. No frunk and probably no updates.
Not sure if this is a Model Y killer.
The “leather” seats look weirdly shiny. Like they are worn.
If they are going to present a bright orange car, it’s a shame about the glaring paint colour mismatch on the side. After seeing that I would be worried about quality control.
The car may have been dented during transportation from China to Norway, and the local painter may not have been aware of the exact shade of paint, rushing to get the car ready for display.
Xpeng told me that this car is pre-production and therefore the paint is not perfect.
@@bjornnyland If I were showcasing a new car I would at least have the paint looking good.
@@user-hb8sq6ce9u Excuses, excuses, excuses.
4:57 because of charge port being on the wrong side?
The G6 is a much better vehicle than a Model Y.
The G6 is even more energy efficient than the G9.
Yes even I'm considering a Chinese car or even Korean as my next EV
What about a Chinese Tesla?🇦🇺👍
@@Michael-gp7mv only if they made a right hand drive model X
They have to price it 450k for AWD or it's a nogo vs Model Y
Headless people😂 tack👍
How many of these Chinese companies are going to be around in 5 years time? How are you gonna get parts and service? Is BYD the only Chinese company making a profit, it’s like a race to the bottom for the rest. Will it end up like their property market.
They don't make a profit because they spend all their income expanding.
Many of the bigger ones can already make a profit if they stop or slow their expansion.
Just as Tesla did a few years ago.
Who needs buttons anyway when you can multitask a 10 level buggy menu whilst driving at 100km/hr?
I wish buttons were mandatory for many functions. But at least car makers are now starting to put them back in the card.
Everything you need to do while driving can be done with voice control.
Outside design well done, inside too much boring grey, looks a little bit oldfashioned.
Well…
My impressions are… looks nice… but please please PLEASE … carmakers…!
LISTEN UP…
I understand that you copy things from other carmakers if they look good and attract customers, but don’t copy the stupid stuff, like flimsy doorhandles or electric operated gloveboxes 😂
Please 🙏🏻
Thank you 🙏🏻
Greetings from Germany everybody 👋
How much is the car again ..?🤔
What i rly like about the chinese cars is:
Dashcam integrated
Why no other country does this in their cars? They have all a camera face forward and a backup camera. Make them safe files on a sd card or so :/
Tesla has it.
Not a killer, but its a shame Janet Yellen won't let us have the choice to buy one in the USA. Unless maybe Ford or GM can stick their labels on it. Working people cant afford legacy ICE cars with 5-6 years of interest payments to bankers, outrageous dealer markups and servicing costs, along with crazy auto insurance rates.
Actually it was Trump era tariffs put on chinese autos that is preventing you from getting them in the US. The Biden administration just left them in place during their administration.
Passenger side front door is a lighter colour 👎🇦🇺
This is the result if Model Y and Jaguar I-Pace would have a baby
It used to be every car was VW Golf or Passat killer but today everything is a Tesla killer 😅
Why no Frunk ? What a waste of space. I hate the covered engine bay designs.
Short hood. More space for passenger and cargo. Just like MEB platform.
This car breaks easy and is not cheap.
I’m actually tired of those “Tesla killer” titles…
Could at least YOU be the one who will not use those?
Since this is 99% same looking outside maybe it's ok here :)
Looks not like a tesla, more like typical chinese car
or how everything is a model y os 3 copy.😂
"there we have sending data to China "🇨🇳 😂
The color is not consistent across the car, the back half is darker
Xpeng told me that this is a pre-production car from China.
Very nice but hardly a Model YLR killer, no frunk, small bottom boot, range ?. no dedicated charging network. So saying fantastic to see another EV entering the market
More like Model Y copy?
Because of bigotry you have to shoehorn the copy trope in there? cause this does not remotely resemble the Model Y.
Sending data to China 🤣🤣
Every panel is a different colour
Xpeng told me that this is a pre-production model.
@@bjornnyland lucky they found matching wheels 🤣
It has to be a lot cheaper then the tesla Y for any succes in europe. I wouldnt see any reason to go for a unknown chinese brand.
It's 30% cheaper than Tesla Y in China.
But might not be the case in EU because of taxes.
@@pikapika8294 Tesla Y is 45k so 31.5k euro. I doubt that, just like most chinese EV's its going to priced simular or a little below.
@@k995100 I bought one this January, the basic edition, cost me 195K RMB, which is around 25K Euro.
The Model Y basic edition costs 264K RMB in China, which is around 33K Euro.
Every car is a Model Y killer as the Model Y is ugly AF and boring. A refresh is so overdue, but Tesla is cash cowing AF on this piece of shit.
Same for your mother but I don't annoy nobody because of that.
Can’t imagine driving a car named Xpeng or hongxi
Imagine driving a "Hyundai" lmao
@@Jajalaatmaar still better than Xpeng or hongxi. At least it doesn’t sound ridiculous.
@@mehrshadvr4 Nah you're just used to hearing Korean names.
I like the shameless Chineseness of it. China makes some of the best EV's, they don't have to hide it anymore.
@Jajalaatmaar I didn't use to hear it. Hongxi sound like holy shit.
@@mehrshadvr4 Hongxi does sound like shit. And it means Red Flag.
It's like naming the Volkswagen brand "Swastika".
Tesla is already dead.
When you order a tesla from wish.
There is no Tesla killer. Tesla is 10-15 year ahead there competitors.
LOL. Just no.
😂idiot
@@Beamer_i4_M50 haha beamer i4 M50 thought he bought a better car but now he knows he didn't but keeps screaming.... indeed LOL. Newsflash: Tesla out performs german engineering and will do so for decades... Face it..
Tesla is hamstringing itself by going cameras only for ADAS systems.
This car has indicator stalks. Tesla doesn't anymore, quite useful in European roundabouts.
This car has ultrasonic parking sensors. Tesla only has camera's now.
This car has 270kW charging speed (800v system). Model Y has 170kW max (400v system).
This car has all autopilot systems as standard that are working on a high level, outside of beta in China. For Tesla you have to pay €3500 to €6000 extra. And said autopilot systems also use the radar and ultrasonic sensors as well as the camera's.
This car will be cheaper than a Model Y. And you don't have to pay extra for autopilot features.
Honestly, Tesla seems kinda behind.
@@Jajalaatmaar Car wont be cheaper. You have to get the facts correct before you comment. Model Y has indicator stalks and 250kw (LR) charging. 400v is an advantage because most chargers dont support 800v and then a 800v car will get half the power because of current limit. Tesla are the safest and lightest en most efficiënt EV's . Proof me otherwise..
So.. The Chinese are still copying the western automakers 😂
You expect 5 wheels and wings or something otherwise it must be a copy because old bigot trope?
@@ensteffo
Well.. It's almost an exact copy of a Model Y. The thing with all Chinese manufacturers is that they all a owned by the government.. And to make an almost exact copy, and simply just price it lower, because the company is backed by the government... Is not really an appealing package at all
@@ubergaard You obviously have zero idea what you're talking about.
@@pikapika8294 more than you most likely
@@ubergaard Yeah right.
Can you read Chinese?
Ever been to China?
Know anything about China that didn't come from third-hand media or internet hearsay?
I think not.
