Helldivers 2 - New Patrol Spawns Are CRAZY - 1000+ Kills (Solo Helldive)

  • Once you get past the first few objectives/nests, you have almost no time at all between patrols. Once it hits late game, it feels like you're still fighting one patrol and 2 more show up.

    I know I usually put timestamps for vids but this was pretty much nonstop fighting the whole time, so I wasn't sure how to break it up. Once I get done with the first objective I don't think there's more than 5 seconds without a patrol showing up.

    Honestly helldivers on solo is now simply horde mode. This change is absolutely BRUTAL for solo players

      I'm aiming for 1500 kills solo. With the changes it's actually doable I think. Changes are fucking insane though.

    I’m loving the change to stalkers moving at the speed of light and knocking you back 100 feet with their melees now. Really makes the game less fun

      got killed by the same stalker 3 times yesterday because his meleee nearly one shotted me every time

    Ah, I was waiting for you to do battle with the terminids after the patrol spawn patch.
    I am quite eager to discuss this with you.
    I am fully aware of how both sides of the community feels about this change.
    Some insist that this is how the devs intended for it to be to begin with.
    While the other side, mostly believes that this was a targeted change to hinder solo players.
    Regardless of the devs intentions.
    I feel that the patrol spawn patch kinda compliments the bugs in a way. Since the bugs is a swarm/horde type enemy faction. I find that it actually fits right at home with the bugs.
    My first time going on solo helldive against the bugs post patrol patch was quite an experience. Similar to your helldive here. It was indeed *NON-STOP FIGHTING* from landing till extract.
    It was quite insane. Exhilarating and exceptionally enjoyable.
    So what I'm saying is due to the nature and type of enemy the terminids are, this change is quite complimentary to this specific faction.
    The devs may have accidently made the bugs more fun.
    HOWEVER, I do not agree on the application of this change to the bots.
    The terminids is a swarm enemy faction so it makes sense for them.
    But the bots is not meant to be another swarm enemy.
    What the devs have done is increase patrol spawns for both factions identically. Which is a mistake.
    The Automatons should have a unique set patrol spawn pattern and frequency of their own. That is unique to them.
    Due to the long range firepower the Automatons are able to bring to bear.
    There shouldnt be as many bots as there are bugs.
    There should be much fewer bots in lower frequency.
    It doesn't make sense for there to be 4 factory striders releasing 16 devastators engaging a single player while 2 random patrols comprised of hulks and striders that just happened to be walking by joins in and shreds the player from a distance.
    A single hulk scorcher can delete the player, but now we have to fight bots in bug numbers???
    Yeah no, massive oversight here.
    So while I find the bugs more enjoyable, I find the bots a lot less enjoyable to fight now. Even on lower dificulties when I am testing out new weapons and builds and clear out the entire map.
    There is always a patrol of bots everytime.. as soon as you kill a patrol, another patrol just spawns right outside your line of sight. Which is pure and utter bullshit.
    I thought the devs did not like artificial dificulty but having bots spawn just outside of the players range instead of spawning on the edge of the map and walking through like an actual patrol just screams artificial dificulty and lazy design. (Ofcourse I'm not accusing them of being lazy.)
    But with the state that the bot faction is in, definitely needs a remedy.
    I used to enjoy fighting bots but now it just feels like an unrewarding chore.
    So until they do something about the bots, Ill just be harvesting E-710 and Super Credits.
    Additional side note, with both factions effectively being a high numerical swarm enemy factions.
    I wonder how the devs would balance the new Illuminate faction once that arrives. I read that rhe illumate is a hit N run guerilla warfare race that is not a swarm faction unlike bugs and bots.
    But it would be ashamed if the Illuminate turned into another swarm faction.

      I think the Devs didn't like people being able to solo the hardest difficulty in the game and came up with an excuse to make solo play harder. I think the change for bugs can be fun, but once you get past the first couple of objectives (especially if there are bile spewers) it's nonstop fighting and becomes nearly impossible to get side objectives and nests finished.
      I've spent more time against bots, and today I experienced the full effect of the patrol changes. I can usually salvage most 40 minute missions and complete them. Since the change, I've struggled on multiple occasions due to patrols coming from multiple directions within 10 seconds of each other. You wont' even be finished killing one patrol before you hear another coming, and then you also have drop ships and outpost/objective guards to deal with. The change comes from people who I can almost guarantee never play solo above level 6.
      If they wanted to implement a change that makes the game harder, they should have fixed the bugs first. There are too many bugs that already make the game artificially more difficult and now they added an additional layer on top of that. More patrols that shoot through walls, being staggered by slow and unable to heal, and a laundry list of other things that make the game more frustrating than it should be. They should be less worried about solo players and more concerned about fixing their game before they lose a chunk of their players due to lack of fixes for things that should have been addressed much earlier.

      @@Not_Harvard Dude 150% I just ended up getting a headache. Its not like its any harder when you have to fn avoid everything. You can still get the missions done but they just aren't fun especially at helldive. Bot faction needs separate patrols and spawns from bugs thats the best idea ive seen so far, might not be possible with this ancient engine tho.

      I also wanted to add that I had to switch armor to the trailblazer the one that everybody uses for the reduction in spotting. I had never used it before since I felt that it was overused now its even more of a requirement. Is like they want a specific meta that everyone has to follow which is the opposite of what they want...

      A fair and valid assessment. I do agree with you wholeheartedly about the solo players thing.
      I feel that the devs should be thrilled and impressed that there are people willing to play their game on the highest dificulty setting all by themselves. And that this should warrant more reward to solo players and not penalties.
      I do wonder though, alot of people defending the devs keep saying this was how it was meant to be. And yet, what strikes me odd is the timing of the patrol spawn change.
      They could have added this change 1 week, 2 weeks, or even 1 month post release. It seemed like quite an easy thing to adjust as well.
      They never made mentioned about patrol spawn changes at the start during launch as well. Which if they did would have lended more credibility and believability to their claims and change.
      It rather seems quite sudden and out of nowhere.
      Anyway, a good chunk of the community is being quite vocal about this change. Lets see how the devs navigate this issue.
      Also I do hate the Quasar Cannon cooldown time now.
      Illuminate are coming.

      @@TheNuttyStrongman Honestly, I wouldn't have cared if they said they wanted to make the game harder for solo players. But when you have a game in development for 7 years, and you try to tell the community in all that time you never tested patrol spawn rate for solo players, you're either completely incompetent or lying. And neither is a good look for a company that refuses to fix their game.

    It's the same for the bots. Patrols get crazy as you get higher. I don't have your skills, but I could occasionally solo lvl 7, but now I can't get lvl 5 without getting, what seems like one patrol right after another. It's pretty frustrating. Scorch Hulks aren't as bad with the fire nerf, but so many of them!

      I haven't really noticed the nerfs to scorch hulks tbh. I still get 1 shot by them.

      Using max FOV for console, which I believe is 90.

    Bro, this was nuts! This change to patrols is wild too! When I start a Helldive and some of my friends join in, I can literally feel the game slow down. It's so weird!

    Something got changed. I played our usual 3-man game and about 5 rhinos spawned back to back on Hard.

      I think they messed up when they made the adjustment for solo players. A lot of people are saying the patrol spawn rate increased regardless of how many players are in the game.

      @@Kaiesis I know I'm reaching that point, but mainly because of frustrations with content creation. I've had so many incredible videos with full commentary ruined because of game crashes on extract or late into the game. I record everything on PS, so when the game crashes, I lose the ability to save the gameplay.
      It's been a very frustrating game to make content for, even though it's incredibly fun to play most of the time. Lately it's definitely been getting to me a bit more though, mainly because the longer it goes on, the less patience I have with the Devs. Part of that is probably something I need to work on as a person, but I also think I'm not the only one feeling this frustrated atm.

    The fact that you get more spawns running solo than with team is crazy. Devs made it to where the spawn rate is higher for a solo player because they wanted to incentivize team work.

    I've been using the punisher a lot vs bugs because of stalkers, it completely shuts them down

      You have to build around the punisher if you use it solo. It's nice that it has stagger, but with the increase in patrols, it's not that viable against 30+ hunters.

    Why is it when you streamers play, theres virtually no breaches or drop ships and way less enemies? I get twice the enemies spawned in on me at lvl 4, 20 or more bugs with a charger or two EVERY patrol and patrols always near me. 12 to 16 bots with a hulk etc. I kill a bot putting up a flare and another one shoots one off before i can reload...i dont understand. I cant solo 7 anymore since the "patch" -The game has become a stealth mission until i shoot one enemy then its a shitstorm of never ending reinforcements with no possibility of extracting unless u let the whole timer expire and catch the last ride out.
