I love how raw that first car sounds. Felt so badass driving it, especially with the steering wheel controller. Lol, this game was difficult at certain points, but playing with the racing wheel made it pretty insane.
This game was ahead of its time. The hubs caps disappeared after hitting hard curbs or corners. The bumpers were chrome and reflective, damage to the car was active by proximity points. Also, felonies/infractions were real-time activated. So if you pull up to a red light next to a cop and you squacked your tires when the light went green, that was an infraction. Soooo impressive. To add, on PC, if you ran the game you could put a music CD in your drive and you could control the music on it IN the game as if the car had a CD player in it and your real disc was in the car's stereo in the game. If it came out the way it was but with better draw distance and era-current graphics 5 years later (2004) it still would've been a hit. But would've lasted better through the ages.
That engine sound good. Best engine i ever heard in a game. That's what loved most about it was that sound. Me and the police be flying off downtown going down hills both of the engines be loud ash. I'm miss this game. Didn't even know about the mission. The map was big as hell it was a like u was driving forever. I knew the right streets to take the police. I used to hit back of the cars . They just pop out anywhere lol.

PS1 games always had the best music. I gotta throw a little love to Allister Brimble, that title theme alone is gold. Between his soundtrack here and Chuck E Meyers doing Jet Moto/Twisted Metal, the late '90s/early '00s had great original music
Even if they just reskined everything and did nothing else. It would be a good new release. Same sound effects, same mechanics. Everything. Great game.

The first level can be a pain for the first time player but the veterans it's not a big problem.

I played this when i was little oh the memories.
I have trouble with the driving test. I can do everything except the 180 and the reverse 180. I try repeatedly, and it never gets counted.
