Before anyone else makes the same mistake as mine, don't make the mistake of buying U2722D, thinking you'll just not have the Ethernet port. It can't be further from the truth. U2722D, isn't even an USB-C monitor. It's a monitor that has USB hub built in. You run a USB cable to it to distribute the output to multiple ports and run a DP or HDMI cable, for display. The USB port can't charge the connected device by more than 15w and can't carry any display data. I have no idea who feel tried to target with this, but this is the fact.
@@sunil564 U2722D is not an USB-C monitor. So if you're asking for USB-C Daisy chaining, that's not even an option. If you're asking about DP Daisy chaining, I actually don't know.
@@MohammadIshfaqueJahanRafee Daisy chaining regular DP works perfectly. They target non laptop users obviously. I run PC -> Screen1 -> Screen2 -> Screen3. Obviously there is a market for this. Not everyone run a laptop.
Yeah, not a bad monitor, but you can get the Benq PD2705Q with almost similar functionality, but much more color adjustment options for less that 400 USD. Dell is just way overpriced. And without serious measurements it's not possible to judge about the color reproduction accuracy, the mere factory paper is not a source of truth.
Thanks for the extensive and detailed review of the Dell U2722DE! Also nice that the monitor has a true color depth of 10 bit. And that the percentages of the color space(s) after calibration still almost match the specifications of Dell. Also nice that you discussed the questions of the viewers.
@@PlayGameToday You're right, the monitor comes pre-calibrated from the factory. But in the Tech on Tech review, the monitor is recalibrated with the Spider 5 Pro calibration device. This results in almost the same calibration figures as the figures pre-calibrated from the factory. That's what I meant.
Would have appreciated actually seeing the cable input when referencing video & and peripheral inputs when showing the ports when walking through in segment 6. There was also the opportunity to physically show how the changes in different devices inputs work. Also when showing KVM function there was no details on KVM switching on keyboard. This was not really a functional walk-through. More like a technical overview. Beyond that I will say you have the best wall through on this monitor. Even better than the official Dell Technical guides. Great work.
You should link your art channel to this channel as well! I didn’t know you did tech and was so happy to find this review on a product I was sent for work. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video! Thanks a lot for covering display port daisy chaining. I learnt that it's a MacOS limitation to not be able to use daisy chain in extended desktop mode. Glad to know it works with Windows though. And thanks for sharing the less known features like multi-monitor sync. That sounds very useful for me.
Multi-monitor sync works with compatible monitors which I suppose will be Dell monitors too. Not sure which exact models besides the U2722DE and U2722D are supported
Best Review i have seen. The part with your painting show, how good the DELL is. I think about to take the DELL or the ASUS PA278CV, but i think it will be the DELL.
Really great display. The number of ports it comes with is the bare minimum for any professional computer. Glad Dell understands it, while Apple have dropped the ball on their devices recently. If it had a card reader, that would be a 6-star display for this money. Working with text is pleasant and it keeps my Macbook Pro 16" charged. I can work with lid closed and open, which is super nice. The anti-glare coating is also a welcome addition after years of struggling on an iMac. I'm not a designer, so I don't have to calibrate it, but the colors it has out of the box are to the point. I've seen 4K displays which were unworkable due to contrast issues. Exactly the case when the quality of the panel is more important than the resolution in the spec.
Hey, I plan to use this with a Mac as well. I also plan to use the USB ports to charge devices like my phone, watch, etc. Can you please confirm that I'll be able to charge my devices even when the laptop is disconnected?
As usual a great review. Very interesting and good you brought up the resolution/scaling for MacOS. I am using a 1440p 27 inch BenQ monitor and can confirm it is the ideal resolution for MacOS. That or 5K indeed. Greetings, Maurits.
Wow, was wondering why a 1440p was so relatively expensive for a non gaming monitor, if the KVM works well that alone makes that monitor well worth the price. Add in the ethernet (which while I probably wouldn't use it I can see it being very useful for laptop users) and that's almost a bargain if it's actually 10bit. And again I wouldn't use it much but all it's missing is a card reader which is still important to a lot of creative professionals since it would be easy to fill all the USB ports. even with 4k monitors starting to drop in price my personal sweet spot is still 1440p, my eyes are much happier with it so I keep an eye on what's new out there. If I didn't already have an Asus pro art monitor I'd save my pennies for this.
From what I can tell, the difference between the U2722DE and U2722D is more than just the Ethernet port. It looks like only the U2722DE has the USB-C port for video input and laptop charging.
You're right. And there are many more differences compared to the U2722D. That's why I ordered the U2722DE. Better a function too much than too little. And you may use certain functions again later. The U2722DE also comes with a 1m USB-C - C cable. and not on the U2722D.
@@teohontech7141 I noticed the lack of Power Delivery on the U2722D, but also it doesn't support USB-C Video! (i.e HDMI and Display Port only). Strange.
One think to note here: MacOS support daisy chaining via Thunder bolt 3 only. the fact that this monitor is not doing daisy chaining means although its USB-C input but the technology behind is MST and not Thunder bolt 3. which can a common mistake give that the USB-C does 90w power delivery
Hi to all, I am interested in the U2722D model to replace my excellent U2515H from 2015 with intensive use. I am using a desktop computer with an GFX RTX 2080 card, connected via DP. I do intensive work all day but also I do casual gaming on weekends (mostly racing games) without complaints. Checking the specs, both U2515H and U2722D have 8 ms max time response, and, I just discovered that my monitor has a "fast mode" with 6 ms that I haven't tried yet in years hahah!. So, I think it will be okay for me the U2722D for casual gaming. But, I want to be sure that the only difference between the U2722D and U2722DE is in the ports. I don't need USB-C charging, LAN port, etc. since I connect all peripherals directly to the computer. Both U2722D and U2722DE have the same exact panel, right? Thank you and regards.
I have just bought this monitor but do not know how to connect usb-c headphones to my laptop via monitor usb-c port. It does not work neither through usb-c upstream nor downstream port.
Thank you for the video! I would like to ask two questions: - Is it possible to switch the KVM the following way? For example, I am displaying the screen of my PC on the monitor, but I also have my laptop connected, can I use the KVM switch to control my laptop, while I display the screen only of my PC? - What kind of wireless mouse and keyboard do you use? Looks nice!
I no longer have the display so I can't say for sure. But the KVM switch is supposed to work that way, to allow you to use one keyboard and mouse for two computers. That mouse is Logitech M720

It says LG. Anyway as long as you get a typical IPS LCD monitor, the image quality will be good. Don't get curved display. I can certainly recommend this for long hours of work. But if you don't need the built-in Ethernet port, consider other 1440P resolution monitors which are cheaper, but still look for the 100% sRGB ones.
Hi i have just purchased this monitor and I wanted to connect my sound Bar to this via an optical cable. Is this possible so that all audio from my ps5 and laptop will come out through my soundbar?
A very comprehensive review, Teoh. Great work. I am currently using a 16" mid-2014 Macbook Pro and plan to upgrade to a Mac Mini. I do mostly photo edits on Capture One and occasional video editing. Would this monitor be equal to the Retina display on my current Macbook pro? From your review, I guess this monitor would be sufficient for my kind of work. Any suggestions otherwise?
This monitor is good. However, the 1440P resolution on the 27-inch display will appear more pixelated compared to your Macbook Pro. If you don't need the built-in Ethernet port, you can consider the 1440P 25-inch Dell U2520D (100% sRGB) which will have sharper images due to squeezing the same number of pixels onto a smaller display.
@@teohyc Wow! Thank you for your prompt reply. My Macbook Pro display is 2880X1800. This was my biggest concern as the Dell is 1440 only. Okay, will take a look at the 25 inch US2520D. My other option is to get the latest iMac 24-inch screen. Thank you again.
Very nice review. I have some question. I have TAB S7+ and i want to but this Dell monitor. If I connect my tablet with C to C cable it is possibil to use all USB port of monitor? Hi! I have a question regarding the Dell S2722DC. Do the USB-A ports support the wireless receivers of keyboard and mouse? I do not want to plug them into my MacBook and if they work by plugging them into the monitor it would be great! Thank you :)
Great review, thanks a lot! One question about daisy chaining 2 of these monitors: If I would use the USB -C cable on the first monitor, this means I wouldn't need an extra power cable right? Could I then daisy chain to the second monitor via Display Port?
Hi have you ever tried to connect your iPad to the monitor via HDMI? If so did you find that the colour on the external monitor looks oversaturated compared to the iPad especially the red colour? Also was there any black bars on top and bottom of the display if you use Mirror or use Project canvas in Procreate? Thanks!
Great video. I am planing to buy this asap. If I connect my laptop one the type C port on the back and I also connect external speakers at the back of the monitor will I be able to have sound through the speakers? Also will I be able to control the volume form my laptop?
@@g_mag USB-C audio control works. "For some reason, the 3.5mm audio out does not support wired headphones/earphones. When I connected my wired earphones, I can't control the volume with MacOS but works fine with Windows. That audio port is probably for Dell's own soundbar which is sold separately."
Hi, great review! I am looking for this monitor for use with Macbook Pro M1 and have seen some reports of image retention on the Dell monitor (on the U2722DE and other models as well). This occurs when connecting to Mac running Big Sur. There is even a reddit about it. Did you notice any problems like that?
I did not notice image retention issues. But then I'm using Intel Mac Mini 2018. There are many reported issues with external monitors with M1 Macs. If you are unsure, it's best to get the monitors that have been reported to work fine with M1. Right now unfortunately it's still risky to buy external monitors for M1.
The colours look good out of the box. By good, I mean they look as I expected with no obvious colour shift, tint. If you don't know whether you need colour calibration, you probably don't. Colour calibration is mostly for graphic designers, photo or video editors who need the extra colour accuracy, and those who use multiple monitors.
I've read the ComfortView Plus feature cannot be turned off and creates a very yellow tint, I was wondering how noticeable is it, and whether this greatly affects color accuracy? Also for $90usd less, would Dell u2520d (117.5ppi) be the better buy compared to Dell u2722de (109ppi) for visual sharpness sitting approximately 70cm away running a 2013 Macbook? Thanks!
Not sure about ComfortView Plus as I no longer have this monitor to test. Anyway, I always colour calibrate my displays so the calibrator will actually just remove any colour tint. 27 inch 1440P will have noticeable pixelation even when working from one arms distance away. So the 25-inch will appear sharper by comparing. But 1440P is not good for MacOS so you'll need another app called BetterDisplay to scale the UI to the best sharpness. th-cam.com/video/1z6SU-eyYQE/w-d-xo.html
Both are good. Main difference is just 4K vs 1440P. 4K is good for this size as pixelation will not be noticeable. If you use Mac, you need BetterDisplay app to scale the UI properly. For coding, I recommend looking for 16:10 display. Coding benefits with more height, eg more lines of code shown. The Huawei Mateview 28 is good for coding because aspect ratio is 3:2.
Hi. Greate video. Question. Would the ethernet RJ-45 supply network to the mac via USB-C ? So you have video, power delivery AND ethernet via one cable?
How would you compare the form factor with the previous U2721DE. Looking at specs and photos, the previous version seems way slimmer at 1,5cm thinner in depth without the stand. And the bezels seems slimmer as well, looking at images on the official dell site. Do you know why the form factor has increased?
I just ordered this monitor. Hope it's not the wrong choice. I will use it for cad applications. There is one thing I am wondering about. If I daisy chain the Dell precision m7750 type c will the monitor at the end run at 4k 60fps?
@@teohontech7141 Thank you for the information. I will only use two monitors. My first monitor is U2722DE and my second monitor is 4k 60hz. Is it possible to stream 4k60 just for an extra monitor? There will be no third monitor.
I'm new to this kind of thing, so my office has been ordering some of these monitors. I wonder if the ethernet port can't be used to output display? I mean, if it isn't, can it even be used to open websites directly without the help of a pc via hdmi port?
Since it is office monitor, why no info how it works with printer/scanner/MFD? I'm interested connecting laptop to monitor via USB-C with PD and connecting Printer/scanner/MFD by USB-A cables to the monitor - will it work?
I was Wondering about the 86% only in Adobe RGB. In comparison to the 2716DA that Supports color accuracy much bether. Do you think professional work is possible for Printing ? 86% really enough?
2day usage review. Dell Monitor management on windows is junk don't bother (as of this date). OSD menu can do all the functions that I have wanted. Daisy chaining monitors when trying to use KVM/PIP breaks the second monitor. I'm not sure what would happen if you do not daisy chain. USB Switch is also annoying. When using a usb drive it also moves the drive (which makes sense) Plug in your usb into one of the pc ports not the monitor when using KVM. When using the KVM switch, it also moves the network to the other device even if the device already has a network connection. this can be a pain because it could pull away a needed network connection on a device if it doesn't already have its own connection. Makes sense but is annoying, if you can disable usb switch, but note it won't function as a stand alone kvm any longer. Display is rather awesome. but glare/reflection is an issue even if it isn't glossy. I notice this on a lot of Dell monitors, less so on other brands. Not sure why. the PD USB charge is also great if you are using it for a laptop that can do USB-C charging like newer Surface Laptops and Macs. the same usb-c cable also is the device that connects to the built in usb hub. drop in a wireless keyboard and mouse and you can have only one cable coming out from behind your monitor. Can really clean up the desk space in front of your monitor. So far i give it an 8/10 due to the KVM not working as I would like and the glare. no monitor is prefect but this is pretty good for office use as a docking station. If they had a 120+hz I would really look close at getting one for my home setup
Hi, I just both this Dell monitor to use with my MacBook Pro but I my laptop is overheating so much, do you have that experience? How did you solve it?
If you are using MBP with Intel processor, it's not unexpected. But with Apple M1 and M2 processors, the MBP should not heat up because the resolution with this Dell monitor is not taxing to run.
Hi, Sorry to bother you. If you have to choose, which model do you go for it: 1. U2520D 2. U2722D Monitor for coding, work, youtube I’m still very confuse how to choose the monitor. Once again thank you 🙏
Dell U series is the one I usually recommend. The main difference between the models are just the size and features (e.g. ports). Just get one that suits your budget.
Hello, if you have only the power usb c cable connected, can you connect mouse and keyboard in monitor usb ports? Or you have to connect the laptop with the upstream usb-c monitor port?
Thanks for the review! If you had to choose between this monitor and the Dell U3219Q, which one would you choose? (I'm currently using a 24"monitor, but it's too small for multitasking)
If you use MacOS, don't get 32-inch 4K. Also note that 4K resolution requires a powerful computer to run smoothly (maybe computers from 2017 or newer are good). Personally for me. I will go with the Dell U2722DE because I don't have table space. But I may also go with Dell U2520D which has same resolution, cheaper and sharper due to smaller display but with 1440P resolution.
I find anything above 27" uncomfortable, as you have to rotate your head too much. I basically leave a part of my screen unused if I have to work on a 32-34" display. That's why they started making curved displays, guess that's what makes sense if you absolutely must watch a lot of information side by side, but for a flat panel I'd say 27" is tops of what's reasonable.
@@teohontech7141 My problem is that I work with too many documents at the same time, so I need a larger work area. Because of that I was thinking on a 32-inch flat panel (Dell U3219Q) or maybe a 38-inch curved ultra-wide panel (Dell U3821DW), but I have heard some negative comments from the curved panels (some people see distortions in the image). About your comment related on MacOS, the upscaling feature it’s poor against Windows upscaling? (My main device is Windows) Thanks for your time!
I'm deciding to buy a computer monitor between benq model PD2700U and dell model U2722DE and I see your review is very good. I want to know one more thing, this dell model has eye care mode. Blue light reduction and flicker reduction like benq? Because I use my computer all day for documents and video and photo editing.
hi, is there any reason why you didn't go with 4k Dell monitor? or maybe based on your experience the 1440 is more than enough to represent the retina display? i'm stuck between U2722DE and P2721Q because both of them are in the same price range. my main usage will be for daily Office work, entertainment (netflix youtube etc), amateur Lightroom editing. currently i'm using 2017 macbook pro, should i go with 4k or 1440? i hope you could share some of your expertise. thank you in advance :)
Two reasons. With 4K display and UI scaling, some graphic design software will not show you 1:1 pixel representation at 100% zoom. And my M1 Mac Mini (2020) can drive 4K but I'm not sure if it can drive 4K smoothly.
@@teohontech7141 things are getting trickier for me since you mentioned the ability to run 4k smoothly lol in your video you also mentioned that 1440 is some kind of "sweet spot" for 27" monitor. i think i will consider 1440 more from now, its just Dell sell both at almost the same price that make it hard for me to make a decision anyway i really appreciate your time for replying my question. thank you and have a good day, sir

Not sure about PC gaming but console gaming should work just fine. If you use Windows, S2722QC is good, sharper with 4K. But otherwise both displays are good
There's no way to switch off. Anyway don't worry about charging. Laptops nowadays are smart enough and has many battery protection features. You should check out those features within your OS settings instead.
Very in-depth review of the monitor, super interesting. I've been looking into 27inch 1440p monitors and I've narrowed my list down to the Dell U2722DE and the Benq PD2705Q. I'm an architecture student who mainly uses CAD, Photoshop and other graphic design programs. I will use my laptop to connect via USB-C. What would your recommendation be? Thanks in advance!
@@CyberMew I can't remember why I gave that recommendation. Anyway, if you have the budget the U2722DE is definitely the better display with a lot more features. The U2520D is a budget display with 1440P and USB-C. That's the 1440P display I always recommend for people with mid-range budget.
Maybe this a stupid question, but... If I have a couple of hard drives constantly connected to the monitor, and then I switch the monitor off, and the drives are also switched off, could that cause any problems to them? And what would be a good way to have the monitor off, but still have the drives powered by it?
Either eject the drive from OS or shut down the computer which will shut down the hard drive. Shutting down the computer will also make the monitor go to sleep so there is no need to power off the monitor
@@teohontech7141 Thanks a million for replying! So, should I always keep my Macbook on (and even prevent it from sleep) if I have my drives connected? It's a bit annoying if you're using the drives for video editing for example, and want to put your mac to sleep or have your screens off, to always have to close everything, and eject the drives. I wonder if there's a smarter way to do this.
@@carvalho_jgIf your Mac goes to sleep, the drives will also go to sleep. The only issue is whether the drives can wake up when the Mac wakes up because that's problem I've seen posted by other people, but I've not experience that personally). You don't really have to think too much about how the drives are powered on or off or sleep. The OS will handle all that. There are billions of people who use external drives so there are proper processes to prevent damage through various forms of usage. The most important thing is never to plug out the drive physically while it's still in use, and or not ejected.
That's difficult to say or troubleshoot unless you have something else to connect to the monitor. Unfortunately, M1 Macs are known to have compatibility problems with external monitors. See if you can connect something else to the monitor to test. Maybe another computer, an iPad or phone that can output video signal.
Thanks for the video. I really would like to know if it is possible to temporarily disable charging via the usb c port, to prevent the laptop from overcharging and damaging the battery. Is there a menu for that? I can't find anything on this topic and would appreciate an answer.
Your laptop will just stop charging on its own when it's full. Laptop battery safety is quite good, and it has to be good because there are so many laptop users.
Hello, do you know if I can connect my notebook to this dell monitor via USB C (thunderbolt) and another monitor to dell monitor via Display port as a daisy chain?
Hi, I am newbie for video editing. I have smaller budget here, and was thinking to get U2421HE. It has the same color profile as U2721DE, just the size and resolution different. May I ask for your advice on this? Thank you~
If you have limited budget, go with 100% sRGB displays instead of 100% AdobeRGB displays (anything above 80% is good) because sRGB displays are significantly more affordable than AdobeRGB displays. Then use the savings to get a 27-inch with 1440P resolution. The 1440P resolution is HUGE upgrade over 1080P resolution. Video editing apps work better on larger and and higher resolution displays. You can go with older models if they are cheaper. Display technology has matured years ago so displays years ago can look as good as new displays released today.

The USB port can't charge the connected device by more than 15w and can't carry any display data. I have no idea who feel tried to target with this, but this is the fact.
Is Daisy chain possible with these U2722D monitors from macbook air?
@@sunil564 U2722D is not an USB-C monitor. So if you're asking for USB-C Daisy chaining, that's not even an option. If you're asking about DP Daisy chaining, I actually don't know.
what is display data? is us722d good enough for everyday monitor for business and school?
Just bought the monitor last night based on your great first video. Thanks for this detailed followup video. Great job.
Thanks for the extensive and detailed review of the Dell U2722DE! Also nice that the monitor has a true color depth of 10 bit. And that the percentages of the color space(s) after calibration still almost match the specifications of Dell. Also nice that you discussed the questions of the viewers.
What exactly do you mean "after calibration"? This monitor comes calibrated from the factory.
Great work.
Thanks for the great review! After watching it, I bought Dell U2722DE and it's really great!

Thank you so much for the video, now I can buy this monitor without hesitation

Thanks a lot for this very detailed and well ordered review! This is a very interesting monitor. Thanks again!! 👍🏽
Thanks. I missed that

Hi to all,
I am interested in the U2722D model to replace my excellent U2515H from 2015 with intensive use.
It's the same display, the difference is in the ports and 90W vs 65W charging.

I appreciate you for this wonderful review. Is 24 inch P series USB C is fine ? Or I need to prefer Ultra Display this model ?

I would like to ask two questions:
- Is it possible to switch the KVM the following way? For example, I am displaying the screen of my PC on the monitor, but I also have my laptop connected, can I use the KVM switch to control my laptop, while I display the screen only of my PC?
- What kind of wireless mouse and keyboard do you use? Looks nice!
I no longer have the display so I can't say for sure. But the KVM switch is supposed to work that way, to allow you to use one keyboard and mouse for two computers.
That mouse is Logitech M720
Thank you for the detailed review! 😊
Can you daisy chain the monitors using the USB-C upstream port with power delivery, or do you have to be connected with an actual Display Port?

What is the matrix model of this monitor? Sometimes DELL put LG, but sometimes AUO.
Can you recommend this monitor for hours of work (coding)?

How good would you say the standard color reproduction is as it comes factory calibrated. Did your calibration change the colors much?
Monitor for coding , work, watching movies
U2723QE or U2722DE
Which one is best? Or what monitor you suggest for these purposes?
Both are good. Main difference is just 4K vs 1440P. 4K is good for this size as pixelation will not be noticeable. If you use Mac, you need BetterDisplay app to scale the UI properly. For coding, I recommend looking for 16:10 display. Coding benefits with more height, eg more lines of code shown. The Huawei Mateview 28 is good for coding because aspect ratio is 3:2.
Hi. Greate video. Question. Would the ethernet RJ-45 supply network to the mac via USB-C ? So you have video, power delivery AND ethernet via one cable?
Yes. You can get internet from the USB-C after you connect the RJ45. You'll get internet through all USB ports.
How would you compare the form factor with the previous U2721DE. Looking at specs and photos, the previous version seems way slimmer at 1,5cm thinner in depth without the stand. And the bezels seems slimmer as well, looking at images on the official dell site. Do you know why the form factor has increased?

For those who got the monitor or use it, how is the anti-clear coating, is it heavy and interfere with the quality or it’s not noticeable
Not noticeable unless you have light source pointed at it
Hi, I just both this Dell monitor to use with my MacBook Pro but I my laptop is overheating so much, do you have that experience? How did you solve it?
If you are using MBP with Intel processor, it's not unexpected. But with Apple M1 and M2 processors, the MBP should not heat up because the resolution with this Dell monitor is not taxing to run.

You don't really have to think too much about how the drives are powered on or off or sleep. The OS will handle all that. There are billions of people who use external drives so there are proper processes to prevent damage through various forms of usage. The most important thing is never to plug out the drive physically while it's still in use, and or not ejected.

@@teohontech7141 Thanks for your reply. Probably Benq pd2700q may do the job well. Gigabyte M27Q is surprisingly good at the price point... But overall I actually love Dell U2520D but it's expensive.
@Teoh Please tell - Does 720p video looks good or pixelated on this monitor ? If possible please share screenshots
Yes it's going to be pixelated. Very pixelated.
Hi Teoh,
I'm not sure are you going reply on this comment since the video has been sometime,
I wish you can advice me, which model should i go for Dell 2722D or P2721Q ? I'm going to use for my dell XPS 9570.
Once again, thank you.
Or maybe you can advice which 27inch monitor good for dell XPS 9570, thanks
If you’re doing graphic design work, get Dell U series monitor
@@teohontech7141 Wow, thanks for your time. God bless you !.
I think i will go for Dell U2520D
If you had to decide, would you buy a Dell U2722DE or a Dell U2720Q for a Mac?
For Mac, for 27 inch displays it’s best to get 1440P resolution
@@teohontech7141 And what do you think is the best 1440p monitor?
@@paulgrwd Since you're asking me on this video, then this Dell. lol. If you need AdobeRGB then the BenQ SW2700PT or the newer models. Or the Dell U2520D if you're looking for a budget monitor
Does the daisy chain extended (not p2p) work this way:
• laptop --> usb-c --> Dell --> DP --> Monitor 2
or does both chains need to be DP?
It works. USB C is DisplayPort
Why is the P2723QE with 4k resolution cheaper?
Hello m8 great review, just bought the monitor. I just have one question, i connected my keyboard to a usb port and it didn t work. I have connected the monitor with an hdmi to hdmi graphics card. is this not enough for the keyboard to work?
You need to connect USB from monitor to computer too.
@@teohontech7141 yes i figured it out later! Thanks nice review
My U2722DE unfortunately has two lines of bright (sub) pixels on the lower bezel in the middle that permanently emit light upwards at the same strength, diagonally to the left and right. Are there people who also have this with this model? I don't know whether to return it or not.
This shouldn't happen, would it? Or am I too critical?
Having dead pixels is a possibility with any monitor. But having lines of dead/bright pixels is not normal. Definitely get it changed because the problem may get worse in the future.
@@teohontech7141 In the meantime I have returned the monitor and received my money back. Good service from Dell. I hope that in the future Dell will check the quality of the panels better before putting the case around the panel.
@@keesswier212 So what monitor you get now?
@@nicky3587 The Dell U2722DE because I really liked the monitor otherwise. I will try again at a later time to place an order. Hopefully Dell will deliver the monitor with a good panel.
By the way, I am very satisfied with the service from Dell. I could choose between two options: return the monitor and get my money back or exchange it for another monitor (same type).
I chose the first option.
@@keesswier212 Happens to everyone. Can also be a transport damage. I've had an iMac with dead pixels too. Luckily could exchange it.
can you just use the included cable apple gives you for max charging speeds or do you need an extra cable?
You can use the included Apple cable
hey i have a question! Would you know if I can use the USB-A ports as a hub when I connect this monitor to my desktop via DisplayPort or HDMI?
No because using it as a hub requires connect USB (for data) from the monitor to your computer. DisplayPort and HDMI transmit video and not data.
@@teohontech7141 hey, so i have to use the usb c upstream (data only) to connect to my pc right? So two cables: 1 usb c upstream to take advantage of the usb hubs and 1 hdmi/displayport to transmit video.
@@SillyMeTime If you use USB-C, you just need one cable for data, video and sound. But if you use HDMI or DisplayPort, you will also need USB-C
do anyone see monitor flickering or ghosting when pair with macos like mac m1, m2 run ventura? before i have there issue with U3023E and i will receive this monitor after few day more.
is the Daisy Chain extended already supported for the current MacOS ?
Mac only supports daisy chain with Thunderbolt. This monitor does not have Thunderbolt
Would this be a good solution for a single cable connection to a MacBook Pro or something like that using the usb-c port?
Yes, it’s a good solution. But if you don’t need Ethernet, consider Dell U2520D
My Dell U2719D, the predecessor, appear to be grainy on the display. I don't scale the display. Does this monitor has the same problem. Is it coz of the coating ?
It could be the coating. Most Dell monitor have the same anti-glare coating.
Which one would be better for photographers this one, or Asus ProArt that you reviewed before?@
I prefer this because this has a lot of features
@@teohontech7141 but this one is not pre calibrated?
@@JevgenijMisevic Most monitors that advertise colour accuracy are pre-calibrated.
UP2716D or U2722DE? For graphic design
It's AdobeRGB vs sRGB. If you don't know if you need AdobeRGB, then go with the U2722DE which has more features, 100% sRGB and actually pretty good AdobeRGB coverage.
I am about to purchase this monitor.
Can I share/connect my Laptop screen to this monitor via RJ45 cable only. (like we do with HDMI port and HDMI cable)
Laptop HDMI port is damaged so.
You need a video port and RJ45 is not a video port
@@teohontech7141 thank you
Please, can someone tell me, who owns a U2722D(E) Monitor if this is an AH-IPS Display? Can read out with Aida64
Man..., thank you for the effort but you could have told us that font rendering is awful on this monitor. I connected my macbook pro (2018) to this monitor and font rendering is complete garbage, maybe you have some walkaround ?
Not sure what you mean by “awful”. It’s 1440P resolution on 27 inch so there will be pixelation
Hello, I would like to know how the clarity of documents and web pages on this monitor is? Thank you
It’s good
I just got this monitor. How can I make sure the screen is perfectly level? The 90 degree adjustment means I can't work out if the screen is level or not, it looks lop sided. Shouldn't it look into position? Also, it wobbles when I type?
Maybe place some boxes or books below the bottom edge to help get the correct alignment. The monitor is heavy and should not wobble when typing. Something's wrong.
@@teohyc I feel like I can't get it straight haha, it's driving me nuts. Do other monitors have a 'locked' position so u can be sure it's perfectly horizontal?
@@fruitpunch5260 Not that I know of. The hinge/part should be very stiff and should not move once it's set into position. Make sure there's a CLICK sound when you first place the monitor on the stand.
Please give e recommend....
I need a monitor 27inch for photo editing...
Iif compared with dell s2721qs 4k which one is better?
Dell U or BenQ PD series are good sRGB monitors. If you need even better colour accuracy, go with Dell UP or BenQ SW series with 100% AdobeRGB coverage.
sorry bro 😢... my budget is not enough to buy a benq...
Dell u2722de or s2721qs
Hello, can tell me the dimensions of packaging? Thank you.
If I connect my macbook to this monitor using type-c port from Mac to type-c on the monitor, will the mac get the charged from the same connection and will the usb ports on monitor will work as hub?
Yes and yes.
@@teohontech7141 Thanks buddy. Greetings from India!!
Would you recommend this over the huawei mateview? Seems like the mateview does everything this does and more
I actually prefer the Huawei MateView due to the 3:2 aspect ratio. But that size and resolution combo is not good for MacOS
@@teohontech7141 ah okay, so a mac mini will look better on the dell u2722de?
@@billybrown2363 I think it looks good on the Dell U2722DE. But it's 27-inch with 1440P resolution so pixelation is noticeable. With the Huawei, there's no noticeable pixelation but the visuals will be slightly fuzzy. Fuzzy like using a matte screen protector over a glossy display.
@@teohontech7141 ah okay i see. I currently have the mateview in hand and looks really good but i do see what you mean. I think ill stick with it at the moment as prefer the build quality of it as well

Hi, if I wish to connect this monitor to a M1 Macbook Air via USB-C without constantly charging, which USB-C port should I use? Thanks.
If you want to output video from your MBA, use the 90W USB-C port on the monitor. Don't worry about charging as your MBA will be smart enough to charge and stop when needed.
@@teohontech7141 Hi Teoh, I read that Apple Silicon Macs have some display problems on 3rd party monitors. The rendered texts are either too small to read or too fuzzy. What's your take on this?
@@retrovox Some M1 Macs can only have maximum of two displays. E.g. if it's M1 Macbook Air or MBP, then only one additional display can be connected. You cannot use more than 3 displays. Some of the newer Macs, e.g. Mac Studio, can use more than 2 displays.
With regards to fuzzy text, it's likely due to the low resolution that makes the text look pixelated. To get sharp visuals, you need the PPI to be above 200. You can use the PPI calculator online to calculate the PPI. www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/technology/ppi-calculator.php
I would like to know if it has built-in speakers? To turn the sound out of the computer screen
No speakers
