    When you connect type c of your laptop to type c of the monitor, do the usb ports in the screen work for both power and data as well?
    Or to use the usd ports in the monitor for data (connecting mouse, etc..) we need to:
    1-connect the screen using hdmi or DP.
    2-connect usb type A of the laptop to usb type C of the screen.
    Thank you very much ❤️

    Even though my laptop's usb-c doesn't support display output (version 3.1) but otherwise this seems quite good option for me as a second hand monitor. I thought attaching wired headset, wired mouse and wired keyboard to (I hate loading batteries ) usb-hub of the monitor would make my laptop easier to detach when leaving to school or work. My next laptop will absolutely have full usb-c possibilities to exploit.

    Hey Joseph, thanks for the video. I have a question for you. I have a Dell XPS 7590. Technically I can plug in just the usb-c cable in my laptop (data + power) while having on the main screen the ethernet cable + USB-As plugged in together with the second monitor connected to the main one through the DP to DP cable, right? Thank you in advance, ML

    • @JosephKim
      @JosephKim  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think you can support another monitor via DP. Meaning, you will need both USB-C and DP cable connected to your laptop. Not sure if your laptop has DP port.

    • @MatoVuc
      @MatoVuc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The DP OUT on the primary monitor can be used to passthrough the signal to the second monitor, however the monitors' panels need to be the same resolution and if the laptops GPU is not strong enough, it won't be abke to run the second monitor in full resolution.

      What you are needing is a KVM switch or monitor with such feature. You will have to switch at the hardware level. Another method is to use Logitech's Flow software to go between two setups. But I don't think it connects to the phone. Just on computers. Also, you need to make sure your devices are compatible. And you will still need to fiddle swapping the input on the monitor.

    #PlsRead #Sorry for long comment...
    My doubts are:
    1)Do you think that such continuous charging will affect laptop life?
    2)Where do we connect wireless keyboard/mouse to Laptop' usb port or Monitor in such setup?
    3)Is Lenovo ThinkPad is compatible with such 27" monitor? Configuration is mention below

    #OS:Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise(10.0.17763 Build 17763) 64x bit,LENOVO- 20T7S0M800
    #SystemSKU-LENOVO_MT_20T7_BU_Think_FM_ThinkPad E14 Gen 2
    #Processor-AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with Radeon Graphics, 2100 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
    #Resolution :1920 x 1080
    #My Office Usage: 9hrs daily Technical DBA tasks Coding, Excel, docs, browsing, office audio Teams meeting
    4)Would you recommend P2422HE or P2422H for office usage and below configuration or Do you have any other suggestion. ?

      Thanks for the comment!
      I assume you are intending to use your laptop connected via single USB-C port:
      1) No, laptop will regulate the charging.
      2) I would connect all peripherals to the monitor as I want to keep amount of cables I connect to my laptop.
      3) Many windows laptop with USB-C port charging & display out should be compatible. Because your specification is AMD Ryzen CPU, there is a chance it might not work as it often doesn't charge via USB-C. I actually do not have experience with recent ThinkPads, so I can't answer this with confidence.
      4) This will depend on whether your laptop is compatible or not. Without single USB-C setup, there are cheaper monitors available on market.

      @@JosephKim Thanks for quick reply.
      I am ok to have monitors without USB C charging & also don't mind extra wires.
      My ThinkPad supports HDMI Port. Ok to have HDMI cable too.
      So #RequestYou to please suggest me any 24 -27 " monitor for my office usage (mentioned already)

      You can't. Unless you get another wireless display device.
