Loved this video... I was trying to setup prongs in the same manner you did in your video. You provided some much needed help. Exactly what I was looking for.
Wow, Nancy! Great job. I appreciate that you keep it real and show your mistakes and how you correct them. It’s a very beautiful, one of a kind pendant. ❤
I did this with a small long, irregular shaped Mexican fire opal. With the fragility of the opal, I drilled and used the saw to cut out small spots where the opal was touching the base. This allowed the prongs to be smaller, the opal to be much steadier and less exposed to being accidentally struck.
One of my favourite tutors to watch....lots of info and explanation generously shared in an informal friendly style - I like too that you show that even the pros can make mistakes, it encourages we lesser mortals!!
Vallorbe I think, made in Switzerland. I do believe that Vallorbe is a place in Switzerland. I didn't know about the difference in measuring a twist and a 3/32. Great video as always Nancy. Good job with the backdrop / green screen? and the piece is lovely. Someone is going to be very proud of that.
Fantastic video! I'm continually surprised at how much useful information you manage to pack into each of your tutorials, and I really appreciate that you keep in all the little mistakes that happen and the fixes you use to get around them. Also, your sense of craftsmanship brings me joy!
I loved this video Nancy! I have binge watched all of your videos! I loved watching your thought process of making a piece start to finish (unlike the ever so beloved demo pieces, ha!), I really hope you make more like this one, although I love them ALL! xx
Oh Nancy, you are SO entertaining!! I love your videos because you make me laugh, and you always end up making something totally awesome, and inspirational! xo
Great video :) I really like that you've shared also the bit where one of the prongs melted. I don't think I've seen that anywhere up until now. Very valuable. :) Thank you!!!
We all like to hide our mistakes! The next video showcases two of my screwups because: they happen to all of us and no one tells you how to fix them! Thanks Moon!
Thanks Anne! It was just such a bear of a video. We edited it over and over again because, I talk too much and say weird things and forget stuff! Oh well, we are going back to filming "normally". Meaning: I'm not left alone with the camera - someone will be filming me and tapping me on the head once in awhile! But, I have an entire series in the can already so, my "normal" videos will be down the road a ways. Thanks again.
ooh I'm really glad I found this channel ...I make jewellery but mostly with Silver PMC up til now and I'm trying to find a course on Silver/Gold smithing but they are all restrictively expensive unless you are an art school design student who wants to do jewellery (There are some short courses but it requires you to know a bit about setting stones etc...Therefore. .here I am! now I'm off to watch your video about prong settings for unusual shaped stones (of which I have literally thousands. ..from semi precious to wildly precious I really like the natural look of nuggets and non faceted stones...I have some cut stones but I really like the organic look) ok enough of me. ...watch this video Annie...cheers again luv x
Absolutely spectacular. btw, do you have a video "tour" of your bench pin? I've had mine for years, and it's pretty pristine - I'm getting ready to customize it, but it would be great to see what you do at specific points on the bench pin...
You liver of sulphured the piece with the coral in place. How does the LOS not ruin the coral? Why wouldn't you do the patina first, then set the coral? Thanks, Nancy, it's a really cool piece and jus the kind of demonstration I needed. Love all your videos.
Hi Nancy another great video... i do how a design question... why do you drill out the back plate for the prongs.. im still new to learning all the tricks... i know theres got to be a good reason... is it to hold them better in place...Thanks as always for sharing your knowledge with us.. xoxoxo
Hi Nancy, didn't you have any problems soldering the jumprings afterwards? I have been having troubles with solder melting again and ruining my previous work when I need to heat up more than once, even when I'm using medium solder first and then soft solder. I have tried using a potato to protect my previous work and it has not worked :( any tips?
In one very telling shot, I noted that your toes have a slick new color on them, as well as your new fingernail polish. Oh, yes, your project! It is stunning, my dear. Did you find your coral in Hawaii?
What gauge wire were you using for your prongs? I am making a piece in copper and want to make sure the copper will hold the stones, yet be pliable enough to bend. Also curious about which flux you were using. Thanks for the awesome video. Just what I needed!!!
No, it's My-T-Flux from Rio Grande Jewelry. I like to keep them in flux so that they are coated with it when I use them. www.riogrande.com/Product/my-t-flux/504006 Thank you!
Wait...you're from Jersey?? If you weren't joking about that, I'd love to know what town you're from! And, as usual, another informative and entertaining video, although I think I enjoyed them more in the old days when you were in more of the shots!

Fantastic video as usual! Loved the quick and easy way to straighten out short pieces of wire. I also need to get my hands on a cup burr.
Thanks!

Love it !! Thank you !!
Great content. Respect
Hi Nancy! Love your videos - but had one question: How do you put liver of sulfur on the piece with the coral already set? Thank you! 😀

Nancy, I love your videos! What hardness was the wire you used for the prongs? Thanks!
Happy Halloween

Nancy, is that oil that your pallions are sitting in? Very good job.

How is everyone treating finger cracks? Been working hard in my studio and my fingers... ugh!!!!
"Bag balm", it's made for milkers, it is amazing!
Gabby Thank you! I'll give it a try.
:-)))my nearly 3 year old daughter ask to repite intro 100 times
You are goofy and weird in all the right ways.
Those dangling silver coral shapesare amazing. Do you cover making these in a video?
Awful, horrible yelling at the start. Unwatchable after that.
