    2022 vs 2021 Tesla Model 3: What's Changed?
    In this video, we showcase, compare and review the new 2022 Tesla Model 3 vs the old 2021 Tesla Model 3. We put these two head to head and uncover 11 changes. The cars used for the comparison are the 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD (2022 Tesla Model 3 Rear Wheel Drive) vs the 2021 Tesla Model 3 SR+ (2021 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus). Majority of these differences would also apply to the 2022 Tesla Model Y vs 2021 Tesla Model Y.

      Are both of these rear wheel drive? I heard about the steering wheel and back seat warmers needing to be paid for but hadn’t heard until your video that that was free again. Is that the case with all Tesla model 3s?

    I think the data transfer USB port being in the glovebox only is so that sentry mode and teslacam footage is stored in a more secured area and can't be taken easily. The touchscreen would have to be accessed in order to open up the glovebox and take the footage versus opening the center console and taking the USB drive out.

      Absolutely! That's exactly why Tesla introduced the USB port in the glovebox starting from the 2021 models. It's just that some people still liked to have data transfer capability in the center console in addition to the glovebox port so they could play music, etc off a USB drive. I personally only stream my music but guess there are still a few people that use USB sticks.

      Hey! Sorry I wouldn't be able to comment on the LR version with certainty but I haven't felt too much of a difference in the suspension performance between the RWD version of the 2022 & 2021 models. Tesla does use parts from different manufacturers sometime so there could surely be a difference

    I'm not aware of anything you have missed (and I did do some obsessive research before buying my 2022 M3) - so great job! Of course there were some additional features that came in during 2021 too.
    I think a side by side comparison of acceleration could be helpful for people, as its something some people fixate on.
    Although, while I was a bit worried that I might be disappointed with the 2022 M3 acceleration, I'm very happy with it, as in majority of situations, its still pretty impressive. The possible exception is that, to me, its not super impressive from zero speed (possibly due to 3D7 motor lower torque at zero speed?), but as soon as its say 30kph or faster, it pushes you into your seat very nicely. So might be interesting to compare both from 0 - 100 kph and say 50 - 100 kph?

      Thanks so much mate! Yeap it's hard to do an exact model comparison with Tesla as they continuously make changes throughout the whole year... And looks like a lot of people are requesting the acceleration test so will work on sorting it out for a future video. That's a fantastic point you raise there so I will definitely be doing the test both from 0-100 km/h and 50-100 km/h.

      2) Sound system: 14 speakers + sub + 2 amps in 2022 LR vs 13 speakers + sub + 2 amps. According to Tesla, reduction of a speaker has not caused any noticeable differences to the sound experience.

    Tesla upgrades are not from year to year, but from car to car... You get randomly new upgrades from one production batch to the next one :/ I think it is somehow ok, but they should mention this for new buyers since even their sellers are unable to know if your car will have or not a new feature. I got my m3lr an year ago, and they were totally unaware of the heated steering wheel (which I got, but someone else didn't even ordering just some day before me)

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you're absolutely right! Since Tesla has an agile approach to changes that they rollout in their production, it's really hard to do an exact side-by-side comparison for the year models to be honest. But totally agree that it would be nice to have some more transparency over which features the car assigned to you is getting.

    My 2022/Q1 Model3 has still the old rear lights. But anyway, I was one of very few people that got the car within 2 month, between order and get the car :-)

      Ahh yes it must have been one manufactured in the first half of Jan which is why it was missing the light upgrade. Not a deal breaker and you must be glad to have the car in your hands so early compared to the wait people have to go through now for new orders 😊

    They need dual pane glass all around bad! What I don't understand is how so many cars with single pane are quieter, yet Tesla needs dual pane with added weight to quiet the car.

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn't agree more! Don't know why they left out the rear windows when it was introduced in the front ones. And I would say Tesla (or any other EV) feels louder than other cars due to their being no other noises of the engine, etc. So the road noise is just more audible in the cabin than other cars.

    • @PandanNyTV
      @PandanNyTV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello,
      Previous Tesla owners ran an experiment and found the reason being the glass top of the car. In typical cars, the roof has insulation that dampens road noise. The glass roof of a Tesla does not have insulation and there is no sound dampening. This is why they focused so much on the sound system - to distract people from the loud cabin

    1:45 exactly how is ryzen using more power? it has more tdp? doesn't it just finish the task faster, and therefore can idler longer at low power usage? and even if it does use more power - is it even noticable on your range? because lets say atom idle power at 10w, and ryzen idle at 30w, then even if it is 3 times as much, its basically nothing in comparison to a 55kwh battery....

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have expected both the chips to use similar levels of power but this doesn't seem to be the case based on what I've read and what I was told by some Tesla reps (source: wccftech.com/amds-ryzen-cpu-reportedly-cuts-down-tesla-model-3s-driving-range/). It definitely seems to have higher phantom drain (which may or may not be completely due to this chip). I will do more tests on this and try report on real world differences if any.

      @@EVKiwis I have just broken my windshield on the motorway and once I went to a windshield dealer, we discovered the windshield ordered was not the same at this level (model 3 Performance, March 2022 from Shanghai factory). Even Tesla Service Center in France has changed some 2022 windshields and they had to remove them and replace with the right reference. It seems they didn’t care this change and were not fully aware about this. I was told it could seriously put the mess on autopilot (software a bit different to take into account these changes, physical camera calibration?)
