  • Episode 92: Whether it's in the form of an original Postwar #356, an MPC era 6-2323, or one of the many modern reissues, Lionel's Operating Freight Station has been entertaining operators and spectators alike since 1952. These dock workers are clearly the "buzziest" and hardest-working crew in all Lionelville, yet they never seem to accomplish their work!
Let's take a look at these entertaining accessories through the lens of my recent $21 purchase - a #6-2323 from 1984.

My PWC version came with the lithographed baggage. I made a small weight for the other cart out of green putty that sits down in the base of the other cart. They now run perfectly in-synch.

Yes. I forgot to mention in the video that some of the recent reissues come with loads. Thanks for the reminder.

Great video as always, Mike. Note to self: Don't run when Wife is trying to sleep.

Very informative video as usual. It seems to be a little temperamental for me, but it might be entertaining if you could get it working right. Norfolk Southern is experimenting with LCL again, according to Railfan Magazine. Thanks for sharing.

It does require frequent adjustment. I have mine on a dedicated variable voltage transformer to help fine tune the action.

Always enjoy your videos and am a subscriber. I did notice that the switch you show on this video is not the one supplied. It came with a much smaller 364 switch. What you show in the video is actually an HO whistle controller and would not be used with an accessory. I collect Lionel HO and would be willing to buy from you that 0147 controller. They were made in 1962 and discontinued not long afterwards. If you would like to sell it - I would be interested. Please reply - Thanks

Thanks for the info. Since the video, I have moved and also had to defend the new basement from floodwaters. As a result, some things ended up in the wrong boxes. I will look for the switch and let you know!

@@ToyTrainTipsAndTricks Thanks for your reply and sorry to hear about floodwaters. I had a similar experience with a basement filled up to 10 inches. Mine was the result of a burst pipe. The best advice I got was to engage a private adjuster. They get a percentage, but they got me more than 3 times what I would have accepted. Hope your losses were minimal.

@@tomtweed123 My losses were almost zero, but only because I caught it early and scrambled to get items into various plastic totes. Thisngs got scrambled in the process, but they were saved.

I guess the nub of the issue is to keep the carts on track...

Another outstanding review and demonstration. Due to the idiosyncrasies of the operation of the 356, I actually prefer the prototypical look of the 256 on my layout. Of course there is no animation, but there is no frustration either.
