- In this video, we're taking a look at the hilariously bad Lionel No. 356 freight station. This Lionel accessory was released in 1952 and was sadly infamous for its terrible design and construction.
Thanks to this video, we can all enjoy the hilarity of this failed Lionel accessory. If you're a train modeler or collector, be sure to check out this video and see just how bad this Lionel accessory really is!
I have 0 interest in model trains yet here I am, watching this video that TH-cam has recommended me, of a process slightly faster than paint drying in it's entirety. Great video!
It is so bad that it is good 😊
The narrator is hilariously honest .. yes I love Lionel postwar items .. this one is painful .. but I own two of them ..
Great accessory when it works. Nice video Greg!😊
I really like the accessory for what it is and when it came out :)
I need two for mine too just so I can say I have it on the platforms.😊
You have to have a cardboard load on one cart so it looks like the cart goes in with a load and comes out unloaded these are suppose to be busy biggest men.
I just picked one of these up in York, and I've been trying to find out just what makes these so awful. All my life, ever since I was a toddler anyway (Did my first loco repair - solo - at three years old) I've heard these are a poorly designed accessory, problematic, and so on. Frankly I don't see it. Mine works well. Worked OK when I tested it after I got home, but for five bucks, can't go wrong. I used a liquid contact cleaner, De-Ox-Id, on a Q-tip to clean that cart stop mechanism, the stuff leaves the metal slightly slippery, and also adds a protective barrier against corrosion. Did the same with the 'trough'. Added some oil barrels from the 455 oil derrick I just picked up too, and observed no issues with the carts lapping each other. The stop mechanism was very responsive after being cleaned and a light oiling (I use Zoom Spout oil, the stuff is designed for use in turbines, it's thin, and does not turn gummy with age, and I find it lasts much longer than the La Belle stuff people keep yapping on about). Frankly I'm kicking myself for not getting one of these sooner, and now I want a second one too!
Mine is good for laughing at , I’m happy yours is working smoothly !! 😊
@@GGSRailways I got to admit, that laugh is a bit contageous. My workload repairing and restoring old trains has been heavy since I got back from York, and I needed some levity.
I can't decide if the laugh rubs me the wrong way or is charming.
An acquired taste perhaps 🤔
Thanks for sharing sir
Great video
Looks nice when it works.
It's not bad if you understand how it works if you have a load on one baggage cart and the other one is empty it looks like the baggage men are busy loading and unloading the carts.
Excellent answer , love that
